Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Nininger Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Nininger Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Nininger Township.

How does a metal roof handle Minnesota snow and ice dams?

Metal roofs shed snow efficiently because the smooth, hard surface doesn't trap moisture the way asphalt does—critical when Nininger Township sees about 96 cm of snow yearly. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels stay rigid in freeze-thaw cycles (you'll experience roughly 82 of these per year), so they don't buckle or cup like wood shakes. Optional snow guards let you control where snow slides off. Unlike asphalt, which deteriorates faster under repeated freeze-thaw stress, aluminum's self-healing oxide layer handles that punishment year after year without degradation.

Why does freeze-thaw cycling in Minnesota winters damage some roofs but not metal?

Wood shakes crack and curl as water soaks in, freezes, expands, and thaws—that cycle repeats about 82 times per year here, wearing them out. Asphalt becomes brittle and loses granules. Aluminum never absorbs water, so it expands and contracts minimally and never splits or rots. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered for exactly these conditions. With 831 mm of annual rainfall plus snowmelt, staying moisture-proof isn't optional—it's the difference between a 25-year roof and a 50+ year roof.

Can an aluminum metal roof rust?

No. Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—ever. When exposed, it forms a thin oxide layer that's self-healing: scratch it and it seals itself. That's why Interlock installs roofs everywhere from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading) provides an extra protective layer on top. Steel roofing rusts; aluminum just ages gracefully. With 831 mm of rain and 96 cm of snow annually washing over your roof, that corrosion-proof advantage saves years of maintenance and worry.

Will hail damage a metal roof, and could it lower my insurance?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That extreme durability often results in lower homeowners insurance premiums because insurers recognize the reduced risk. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels distribute impact energy across the roof rather than concentrating it on a single spot. Homeowners in hail-prone regions regularly report insurance savings that offset part of the installation cost. Ask your agent for a quote once your metal roof is installed.

How well does metal roofing stand up to Minnesota wind gusts?

Nininger Township experiences typical daily winds around 20 km/h with gusts reaching 97 km/h—well within Interlock's warranted resistance to wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h). The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors on all four sides, so wind can't work panels loose or peel them back. This mechanical grip means no fasteners failing under stress, no panels lifting away from the deck. When installed to specification over a solid substrate, the system moves as one unit rather than letting wind isolate individual panels.

Is metal roofing heavy? Will my house need structural reinforcement?

Not at all. The Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and the Slate at roughly 0.41 lb/sq ft. Most homes can handle that weight without any structural work. In fact, the lightweight nature lets Interlock install metal roofing directly over your existing asphalt roof, avoiding the cost and debris of a full tear-off. Older homes and those with rafter concerns benefit especially from this advantage. You avoid costly framing upgrades and reduce the load-bearing stress on walls and foundation throughout the roof's 50+ year lifespan.

Do metal roofs reduce cooling costs in summer?

Yes. energy-efficient Interlock colors have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny profile), meaning they reflect heat rather than absorb it the way dark asphalt does. Nininger Township receives about 3,138 sunshine hours annually, so that reflectance advantage compounds month after month. Cool Roof Rating Council testing confirms the energy benefit. The reduced heat absorption lowers air-conditioning load during summer, and on a 96 cm snow year where the white/light underside reflects light, winter heating benefits too. Many homeowners see 5–15% cooling savings depending on color choice and local utility rates.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need?

Minimal. Unlike wood shakes that require regular inspection for splits and rot, or asphalt that sheds granules and needs patching, Interlock metal roofing is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. No staining, no granule loss, no wood rot—ever. A rinse-off with a garden hose every few years handles pollen and dust. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish resists chalking and fading (30-year warranty), so your roof doesn't fade into a dull gray. With 831 mm of annual rainfall, Nininger Township's wet climate actually keeps the roof self-cleaning. That low maintenance saves you time, money, and the risk of standing on a ladder in winter snow.

What warranty does Interlock metal roofing come with?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion—valuable when you sell. That means if you install at age 40 and sell at 60, the buyer gets 30 more years of coverage. Covering everything from freeze-thaw damage (you'll face about 82 cycles yearly) to hail impact, it's backed by the same company manufacturing since 1998 in Delta, BC. Few roofing products offer this level of long-term peace of mind.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over the roof's life, metal roofing is the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt lasts 15–25 years, requiring tear-off, disposal, and reinstallation; metal lasts 50+ years with minimal maintenance. The upfront cost is higher, but when you amortize it across five decades—plus no tear-off, no granule cleanup, no insurance premiums for impact damage, no structural reinforcement needed—the cost per year drops below asphalt. Many homeowners also recover 60–80% of metal roofing cost at resale. In Nininger Township's harsh freeze-thaw climate (82 days yearly), asphalt deteriorates faster, making metal's durability even more economical. Calculate total cost of ownership, not installation price alone.
