Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Rush Point

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Rush Point, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Rush Point.

Will metal roofing handle Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles better than asphalt or wood?

Yes. Aluminum roofing is immune to the moisture absorption and expansion that crack asphalt and split wood shakes during Rush Point's roughly 83 annual freeze-thaw days. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy doesn't absorb water, so ice buildup and thawing don't degrade the material itself. The Alunar coating on both panel sides adds a second barrier against moisture intrusion. Wood shakes absorb moisture, swell when frozen, and crack as they dry—a cycle that repeats 83 times yearly here. Asphalt becomes brittle in cold and softens in spring sun (3,113 sunshine hours annually). Aluminum simply cycles without degradation.

How does Interlock metal roofing handle heavy snow loads in Rush Point?

The Interlock Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, and Standing Seam profiles all meet ICC-ES ESR-1790 snow-load requirements for Minnesota. The real advantage: at just 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft (compared to concrete tile at roughly 12 lb/sq ft), the aluminum panels are light enough to install directly over your existing roof—no structural reinforcement needed. Rush Point receives about 92 cm of snow yearly. That weight savings matters: it eliminates the foundation and framing stress that forces expensive retrofits with heavier materials. The four-way interlocking design also prevents edge lifting when wind gusts to 100 km/h push against accumulated snow.

Can a metal roof withstand Rush Point's wind and ice-storm gusts?

Yes. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—well above Rush Point's typical gust extremes of roughly 100 km/h. The interlocking system transfers wind load across the panel grid, not through fasteners alone, so individual panels don't lift. The UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating also proves the panels' rigidity under lateral stress. In ice-heavy regions with frequent freeze-thaw cycles (83 days annually here), the lightweight design prevents the sagging that concentrates ice weight and creates uplift vulnerability. Contrast this to asphalt shingles, which curl and separate at the edges during temperature swings.

Why doesn't aluminum metal roofing rust like steel?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes in moisture. Instead, aluminum forms an oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, so the panel continuously repairs surface damage. Rush Point receives about 778 mm of rain annually plus 92 cm of snow melt, both moisture sources that would accelerate rust on steel roofing. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of every panel and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, adds redundant protection. This dual-side coating is essential in regions with freeze-thaw cycling: it prevents moisture from entering panel edges and causing corrosion traps. Steel roofing requires ongoing maintenance; aluminum requires none.

Does Interlock roofing qualify for hail-damage insurance discounts in Minnesota?

Many insurers offer discounts for UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated roofing, and Interlock qualifies. The Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, and Standing Seam profiles all carry this highest available hail rating and are warranted against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Contact your local agent for your specific policy, but Class 4-rated metal roofing often reduces your premium because it minimizes claim likelihood. Rush Point's climate brings both freeze-thaw stress (83 days yearly) and spring convection storms—conditions that test impact resistance. Aluminum's rigidity means hail energy transfers to the interlocking grid, not to deformation of individual shingles. Asphalt shingles offer no impact warranty and often sustain cosmetic damage that voids coverage.

Will a metal roof keep my Rush Point home cooler and reduce energy costs?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorb it, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—measurable under ASTM standards and verified by the Cool Roof Rating Council. In a location with 3,113 annual sunshine hours, that reflection matters in summer. A light-colored metal roof reflects solar radiation that asphalt absorbs and transfers into attic space, reducing cooling load. The benefit compounds during freeze-thaw cycles: reflective coatings also lower surface temperature swings, reducing thermal stress on the substrate. Over a 50-year roof lifespan, the energy savings offset the initial material cost, especially in homes with air conditioning. Asphalt absorbs heat, raising attic temperatures and cooling costs year after year.

Can I install a metal roof over my existing shingles without reinforcing my home's structure?

Yes. The Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is needed. All five Interlock profiles (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, Standing Seam) meet this weight standard. This matters in Rush Point because your existing roof and framing are already engineered for asphalt shingles and snow loads of about 92 cm annually. Installing aluminum directly over your current roof avoids the expense and disruption of tear-off and reroofing. Your home's joists, rafters, and foundation carry the existing load without modification. Steel roofing or upgrading to concrete tile would require expensive reinforcement. Aluminum's lightness is a structural and financial advantage.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Aluminum metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish resists chalking and fading for 30 years, so you won't repaint or reseal. Rainfall of about 778 mm yearly keeps the surface clean naturally. Asphalt shingles require inspection for granule loss every few years, crack sealing, algae treatment, and eventual replacement—a cycle that repeats. Wood shakes absorb moisture during Rush Point's 92 cm of snow and 83 freeze-thaw days, requiring annual inspection for rot, insect damage, and splitting. Metal roofing's non-porous aluminum and sealed interlocking joints prevent water penetration and eliminate these recurring issues. Over a 50-year lifespan, asphalt and wood demand ongoing labor and material costs; aluminum demands none.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over a traditional asphalt shingle roof?

Yes, when you compare the total cost over the roof's lifespan. Asphalt shingles last 15–25 years in Rush Point's climate (83 freeze-thaw days and 92 cm of snow yearly accelerate degradation), requiring at least two complete tear-offs and replacements in 50 years. Each replacement includes labor, disposal fees, and roof-off vulnerability to weather. Metal roofing carries a Guardian lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner, then 50 years for the second owner), eliminating the replacement cycle. The upfront cost is higher, but you avoid multiple asphalt purchases and landfill disposal. Add energy savings from energy-efficiency reflective coatings and the lower maintenance burden, and the total cost of ownership favors metal. This is the last roof you buy.

Does Interlock Metal Roofing serve Rush Point, Minnesota?

Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing has served this region since 2001 and maintains the local expertise to install and warrant all five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, and Standing Seam—to ICC-ES ESR-1790 specifications. Our local team understands Rush Point's specific climate: roughly 778 mm rain, 92 cm snow, 3,113 sunshine hours, and gusts to 100 km/h. We're familiar with regional building codes, local permit requirements, and the freeze-thaw and wind challenges that define Chisago County installations. As the manufacturer and local installer, we stand behind every panel and warranty claim without middlemen. Contact us for an on-site assessment and a timeline that fits your schedule.
