| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sunrise Estates MH Park
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sunrise Estates MH Park, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sunrise Estates MH Park.
How does metal roofing handle Minnesota's heavy snow and ice buildup?
Interlock's four-way interlocking panels shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, reducing ice-dam risk in a climate that averages about 92 cm of snow annually. The smooth aluminum surface, combined with optional snow guards, allows snow to slide safely rather than trap moisture and freeze at the eaves—critical in Sunrise Estates where you experience roughly 83 freeze-thaw cycles per year. The lightweight design (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural stress even from heavy accumulation, and the non-corrosive aluminum won't degrade from repeated thaw-and-refreeze cycles that pit and crack other materials.
Will metal roofing crack or split after many freeze-thaw winters?
No. Aluminum expands and contracts smoothly without the brittleness of asphalt or the splintering risk of wood. Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy is engineered for thermal cycling; your region's 83 annual freeze-thaw days and mean temperature of 7.8°C create exactly the stress that fractures ceramic tile or causes asphalt to curl—but aluminum flexes and recovers. The Guardian warranty explicitly covers cracking and splitting for the lifetime of the original owner, a guarantee that reflects the material's proven durability in far harsher Arctic conditions, including an Antarctic research station installation.
Can metal roofing rust in Minnesota's wet winters and spring melt?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When scratched, its oxide layer self-heals, meaning it actually strengthens over time rather than oxidize like steel. In Sunrise Estates' 778 mm annual rainfall and seasonal moisture swings, this distinction matters: steel roofing rusts from the inside out, often invisibly until failure. Interlock's Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides) adds a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, protecting the metal beneath. The result is a non-corrosive roof that performs identically in coastal salt air and inland freeze-thaw climates—no hidden deterioration, no surprise replacements.
Is metal roofing safe in Minnesota storms and high-wind events?
Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, well above the typical gusts of 100 km/h (62 mph) recorded in Chisago County. The four-way interlocking system mechanically locks each panel on all edges, preventing uplift even in sudden wind spikes. Chisago County's daily-mean wind of about 18 km/h, combined with seasonal storm gusts, is exactly the variable-force condition that stresses loose-fastened roofing—Interlock's design eliminates that vulnerability. The system's rigidity also means no metal-to-metal rattle or drum effect during storms, a concern many homeowners share about metal roofs.
Does metal roofing withstand Minnesota hail, and can it lower insurance costs?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this non-combustible, impact-resistant rating and offer premium discounts; contact your provider for quotes. In a region experiencing variable spring and summer storms, Class 4 protection is substantive: it means dents may occur but structural integrity and weather resistance remain intact. Aluminum's high elastic recovery means minor impacts often pop back to original shape. The combination of durability and insurance-friendly credentials makes metal roofing a long-term savings strategy in a climate prone to unpredictable weather events.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to replacing asphalt shingles?
Metal roofing is a lifetime purchase, not a 15-to-20-year replacement cycle. The Guardian lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner, then 50 years transferable to the next owner) means you will likely never replace this roof. Asphalt, by contrast, requires tear-off and landfill disposal every 1.5 to 2 decades—adding labor, disposal, and new material costs repeatedly. Over 40+ years in Sunrise Estates' climate of 83 annual freeze-thaw days and 778 mm rain, metal avoids the cumulative expense and hassle of shingle failure, moss growth, and storm repairs. Initial cost is higher; lifetime cost is lower. It's also the last roof you buy.
How much upkeep does a metal roof need in Minnesota weather?
Virtually none. Unlike asphalt, which requires moss removal, shingle replacement, and gutter clearing as debris accumulates during 92 cm of annual snowfall, aluminum sheds organic material and water freely. No coating reapplication, no algae or fungal treatment, no wood preservation. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance and warrants against chalking and fading for 30 years (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured). In Sunrise Estates' freeze-thaw climate, asphalt's brittle curling and cracking demand frequent attention; aluminum's smooth, flexible surface needs only occasional visual inspection. This simplicity is worth significant time and money saved over decades.
Can metal roofing reduce cooling costs during Minnesota's summer?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, lowering attic and home temperatures on high-sun days. Cool Roof Rating Council–rated colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they bounce solar energy rather than store it as heat. Minnesota's 3113 annual sunshine hours create real opportunity here: even moderate solar reflection cuts air-conditioning demand on the 50+ warmest days per year. The savings compound over decades and add up even in a northern climate. Combined with the non-combustible aluminum and its durability in freeze-thaw cycles, energy efficiency becomes a dual benefit—comfort and efficiency in one material.
Can my existing roof structure support metal roofing, or do I need reinforcement?
No reinforcement needed. Interlock's aluminum is extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Even your home's original framing, built decades ago for asphalt or lighter materials, can support aluminum without modification. You can install Interlock directly over most existing roofs, eliminating expensive tear-off labor and structural work. This advantage is concrete in Sunrise Estates: older mobile home and modular construction often has lighter roof systems by design. Aluminum respects that constraint while delivering tile-like aesthetic durability and the full 120-year lifespan. Installation is faster, cheaper, and simpler than any heavy-material alternative.
How long does it take to install metal roofing on my home?
Installation typically spans 2–5 days depending on roof complexity and weather; Interlock Metal Roofing, serving the region since 2001, can provide a specific timeline during consultation. The lightweight panels and four-way interlocking design speed installation compared to tile or slate labor. You can install over an existing roof (no tear-off required), cutting labor time and eliminating the disruption of debris and exposed decking during Sunrise Estates' unpredictable spring and fall weather. The process uses standard roofing tools and techniques familiar to local contractors. Once complete, your roof is weather-sealed and ready to handle the next 778 mm of annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycling without further attention.
