From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lake Shore Terrace MH Park

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lake Shore Terrace MH Park, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lake Shore Terrace MH Park.

How does metal roofing handle Lake Shore Terrace's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum metal roofing sheds snow naturally due to its smooth, sloped surface and low friction—critical in a climate that receives about 92 cm of snow yearly. The material itself is immune to the damage that freeze-thaw cycling inflicts on asphalt: with roughly 83 freeze-thaw days per year in Chisago County, asphalt becomes brittle and cracks, but aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched and never degrades from thermal stress. Four-way interlocking panels also prevent wind-driven snow infiltration during gusts that reach 100 km/h. Snow guards are available if you want to retain snow for insulation or aesthetic reasons.

Why doesn't an aluminum metal roof rust like steel roofing?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, transparent oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath; when scratched, that oxide self-heals. Steel roofing requires paint or coatings to prevent rust and needs regular maintenance in humid climates. Interlock's Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides of every panel) adds a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, ensuring durability through Lake Shore Terrace's 778 mm annual rainfall without deterioration of the protective coating itself.

Does freeze-thaw damage affect metal roofs the way it damages asphalt shingles?

No—asphalt shingles crack, curl, and lose granules as water trapped in their layers expands and contracts through approximately 83 freeze-thaw cycles per year in this region. Aluminum roofing avoids this entirely because it doesn't absorb water; precipitation runs off immediately, and the material's thermal expansion is gradual and predictable. The four-way interlocking design seals panel joints so water never penetrates the deck. Over Lake Shore Terrace's heavy snow season (about 92 cm annually) and spring melt, this difference compounds: asphalt weakens year after year, while aluminum maintains its structural integrity indefinitely.

Can my mobile home's frame support a metal roof, or do I need structural reinforcement?

Your mobile home almost certainly won't need structural work. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the look of heavy clay or concrete tile, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. Even the Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is negligible compared to your home's existing load capacity. Most installations go directly over your current roofing material, saving the cost and mess of a full tear-off. Our local installer, serving the region since 2001, performs a site assessment to confirm, but structural reinforcement is essentially never required for residential mobile homes in Lake Shore Terrace.

Will metal roofing blow off in Lake Shore Terrace's spring and winter winds?

No. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, and Lake Shore Terrace's typical gusts reach only about 100 km/h. The four-way interlocking design creates a mechanical bond between adjacent panels—wind must lift the entire roof structure, not individual shingles. This system has been tested and certified under ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) for compliance with residential wind load codes. Over the typical 18 km/h average wind speeds and seasonal gust events this region experiences, the roof functions as a unified assembly rather than a collection of loose components.

What warranty covers an Interlock metal roof, and how long will it really last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—issues that plague asphalt and wood within 15–20 years. It's transferable once to the next owner, who receives 50 years of coverage from completion. This structure reflects the material's actual lifespan: aluminum doesn't degrade like asphalt shingles do under Lake Shore Terrace's 83 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 778 mm rainfall. Your roof is designed to outlast your home, making it the final roof you'll install.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance. Asphalt shingles need annual inspections for damage and granule loss, especially after freeze-thaw cycles; wood shakes and shingles must be treated against rot and insects and re-sealed every 5–7 years. Aluminum roofing simply sheds debris naturally—about 3,100 hours of annual sunshine help keep it clean, and the 778 mm yearly rainfall rinses away dust. The Alunar coating doesn't chalk or fade over its 30-year warranty period, so you never need to repaint or re-coat. Most owners simply inspect gutters and trim vegetation away from edges, just as they would with any roof.

How long does installation take, and do you remove my old roof?

Installation typically takes 2–5 days depending on home size and complexity, performed by our local installer who has served the region since 2001. Most homes don't require old-roof removal: Interlock's light weight (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) means it installs directly over your existing asphalt or wood shingles, eliminating tear-off labor, debris disposal, and exposure time during construction. This also preserves an extra insulation and vapor-control layer. If your current roof is severely damaged or if local code requires it, removal is an option we'll discuss during the site assessment. Either way, the process is faster and cleaner than traditional roofing work.

Does hail damage metal roofing, and can it lower insurance costs?

Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and is even warranted against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means it withstands impacts equivalent to 2-inch steel balls dropped from 20 feet; such resistance is rare in roofing. Because of this durability, some insurance carriers offer discounts on homeowners' policies for metal roofing, though discounts vary by insurer and region. In Lake Shore Terrace's climate, where spring and summer storms do occur, this combination of impact resistance and potential premium savings makes metal roofing a financially sound choice alongside its other longevity benefits.

Is metal roofing more expensive than asphalt, and does it pay back over time?

Initial cost is higher, but total ownership cost heavily favors metal. An asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years in a climate with 83 freeze-thaw days and 92 cm of snow annually; you'll replace it twice during a single metal roof's functional life. Interlock's lifetime warranty (non-prorated for the original owner) and 50-year transferable coverage mean no replacement expenses after installation. Add zero maintenance costs versus annual asphalt inspections and repairs, and metal roofing becomes your final roof purchase. Over 40+ years, the savings in labor, materials, and landfill hauling dwarf the upfront premium, making it the most cost-effective long-term investment for Lake Shore Terrace homeowners.
