Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Amador Township, Minnesota
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
The communication is incredibly poor, mind-boggling poor. I would suggest improving the communication. I still haven't received my warranty or final payment statement. The sign is still in my yard. I don't want to throw it away. It's a nice big sign, and I'm sure they would like to use it. I didn't threaten them with anything.
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
They were courteous and very efficient. They did a fine job.
They could have improved on the scheduling.
I have no feedback for this rating. I felt they could have improved in communication, specifically a few days notice before the start date. There is nothing else I would like to share.
Communication about the date of the project was difficult to ascertain. The crew was very hard working, courteous and kept the job site clean, but they cut down branches of a tree in my front yard that made me extremely upset.
Our new roof looks fabulous! We’re optimistic that we’ll be equally as pleased with its performance. The installers were professional, safety conscious, and courtesy to our dog. We appreciate how understanding they were of our dog needing a little time in his yard when they were working in that side of the house.
They could have improved on communication.
Interlock Roofing- Minneapolis is a very professional team for installation and quality of material! We are very happy! Considering the quality and endurance of the material, the cost isn't high in the long run. It absolutely makes the product much more feasible and reasonable than shingles!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Amador Township
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Amador Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Amador Township.
Does a metal roof handle heavy snow loads well in Minnesota winters?
Yes — aluminum's extraordinary lightness actually prevents ice dam formation better than heavy asphalt or slate. Amador Township receives about 92 cm of snow annually, and that snow slides cleanly off smooth metal panels without the weight that causes structural strain or ice backup at the eaves. The four-way interlocking design keeps panels locked tight through freeze-thaw cycles (about 83 per year here), so snow movement won't open seams. You can add snow guards if you want to control where snow falls.
Will Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycling damage a metal roof over time?
Aluminum is naturally immune to the freeze-thaw damage that cracks asphalt or concrete tile. With roughly 83 freeze-thaw days yearly in Amador Township and 778 mm of rainfall, moisture that would expand and contract in other materials simply doesn't affect aluminum — it has no pores to absorb water. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading) sits on both sides of each panel, sealing out moisture before it ever reaches the aluminum core. Interlocking seams keep water from traveling horizontally.
Why should I choose aluminum instead of steel metal roofing?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms a protective oxide layer that heals itself when scratched. This matters in a climate with nearly 780 mm of annual rain — water exposure won't corrode your roof the way it does steel. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) has been installed in coastal salt-air environments since 1998 and even on Antarctic research stations. You're getting proven durability in Minnesota's wet-freeze environment without the rust risk of steel competitors.
Can metal roofing withstand Amador Township's winter wind gusts?
Absolutely. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph even though Amador Township's typical gusts reach only about 100 km/h (62 mph). That margin of safety means winter storms won't lift panels or open seams. The interlocking design — where each panel locks on all four sides to its neighbors — distributes wind pressure across the entire roof rather than letting gusts catch a single panel edge. You're getting a wind warranty that's nearly twice your local weather demand.
Does a metal roof survive hail better than asphalt, and can it lower my insurance?
Metal roofing earns UL 2218 Class 4, the highest hail-impact rating available — and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Because aluminum is non-combustible and won't split, curl, or lose impact resistance, many insurers offer discounts on homes with metal roofs. In Amador Township's climate, hail and storm damage are genuine concerns; a Class 4-rated roof demonstrates loss prevention to underwriters. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 rating and ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation — these credentials often qualify you for measurable premium reductions.
Is my house strong enough to support a metal roof, or do I need expensive structural work?
No structural reinforcement needed. The Slate profile installs at about 0.41 lb/sq ft, the Shake at 0.58, and the Tile at only 0.59 lb/sq ft — roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Because aluminum weighs so little, it installs directly over most existing roofs without adding load to your framing. Many Minnesota homes can accommodate a metal roof retrofit simply by removing old asphalt shingles and securing new panels over the existing deck. Your builder or contractor can verify your structure in minutes; in nearly all cases, you'll avoid reinforcement costs that would accompany real slate or tile.
Will a metal roof stay cooler in summer and reduce air conditioning costs?
energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it the way asphalt does, thanks to thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (in Aged Copper Penny). Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms this performance under real-world conditions. Amador Township enjoys about 3113 sunshine hours yearly, so reflective roofing matters — it keeps attic temperatures lower and reduces your cooling load even in Minnesota's moderate summers. The difference compounds over the roof's lifetime; a lighter attic also means less strain on HVAC equipment.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles over the roof's life?
Yes, when you calculate the total cost of ownership over decades. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years; you'll replace it multiple times before you're done with an Interlock roof. The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and curling — the failures that force asphalt replacements. You also eliminate the environmental and landfill cost of repeated tear-offs. One roof, installed once, lasting your ownership and passing to the next owner with 50 years of coverage remaining: that's the math that makes metal roofing the last roof you buy.
How much upkeep does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or tile?
Virtually none. Asphalt requires regular inspections, repair of curling shingles, and moss removal in damp climates; tile cracks and needs resealing. Aluminum panels don't rot, split, curl, or need sealant reapplication. Rainfall of 778 mm yearly keeps your roof clean naturally; twice-yearly gutter cleaning is standard regardless of roofing type. The CALGreen-verified Interlock roof qualifies for reduced-maintenance building credit. You're no longer replacing flashing, re-caulking valleys, or patching storm damage — that time and money stays in your pocket.
Can metal roofing look like real slate, cedar shake, or tile instead of looking 'metal'?
Interlock offers five distinct profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile — each with authentic texture and dimension. The Slate mimics natural stone; Shake and Cedar Shingle capture wood-grain character; Mediterranean Tile replicates clay barrel profiles; Standing Seam delivers a modern architectural look. All use the same underlying aluminum panels and four-way interlocking system. Your choice is purely aesthetic, matching your home's style and Amador Township's character, while you gain aluminum's longevity, lightness, and durability beneath.
