Review: June 10, 2016Completion: March 1, 2016

I am very disgusted with what happen in terms of what the salesperson told me I was going to get. My neighbor has the same roof and said that he had a good job Interlock was over sold and under delivered in terms of what they promised. I think they could have improved on customer service, follow up, letting the customer know when the start dates change, and the installers should be more prideful in their work. I called back several times about when they were going to start the work. I was told by the contractor that my problems would be forward to the office but no one in the office knew about my problems. I know foresee that I will have issues down the road because it was not put on properly. I think they should do it right the first time and do exactly what they say they will do. Some of my concerns and issues are based on what I have gone through. I don't want anyone else to go through this. I feel that there might be some customers who don't speak up and will just let things slide by and that isn't right. The owner doesn't know what the people are costing his company by the lack of workmanship and quality of work and customer service. When people get this kind of service they will never use that company again. I told Jennifer that they gave me a Mercedes roof but had installers for Ikea install it. My neighbor feels bad for recommending them to me.I work at home and I am most of the time. The last day they completed the job no one told me that it was going to be the last day. I was two hours away when I got the call that it was the last day and they were done and I needed to sign paperwork. He wanted me to walk around the property to look at the work but by the time I got home the sun had already set and I couldn't see anything. I refused to sign off on the work.

I would love to do it, but I can't justify spending that much money. I love the product, but I'd have to win some money to afford it. I like the sales pitch, and the salesman, but it cost too much. They have a unique product, and the design is good.

We are writing to thank your company for the wonderful new roof installation that we have. It is refreshing in today's business world to be able to have a company say and do exactly what is expected of them. Your sales representative, Robert Allen, was very knowledgeable and informative about the product and the installation of it. He was not an aggressive salesman, which we appreciated. The installers were the BEST! Dmitry, Leonid and Danny were the hardest working men we have ever had work on anything that we have ever had done at our house. They worked every moment that they were here, and the most severe conditions. The job was finished in a timely manor. We definitely will recommend your company to our friends.

I’m not sure who to best direct this letter of appreciation to but I’m assuming it will be shared with Interlock officials. As briefly mentioned in an email to you we are thrilled with everything. From our initial deliberations in choosing Interlock to the completion of the project we have been impressed. We have completed many remodeling projects in our home. Replacing a roof certainly would be considered major. To know that we will not need to worry about replacing it is very comforting, not to mention the impressive appearance and worth it has added to our home and neighborhood. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the extraordinary work and work habits of Nazar. Committed, exacting, attention to detail, particular are words that immediately come to mind. His knowledge and work ethic are off the scale – long work days, mindful of what needs doing next (particularly with vagaries of spring weather) are noteworthy. He’s a gem you can absolutely depend on. We await our first major nasty weather event to put this all to test – one that we were very confident about. Thank you once again. It is reassuring to know we will benefit so nicely from the superior workmanship and quality of the roofing products.

My wife and I wanted you to know that we are very pleased with the new Interlock shingle roof recently installed on our twenty year old home. The color matches the rest of our home and the shingles look tremendous. While we knew we needed a new roof and we we looked at a number of different options and contractors, we believed that selecting your company was without a doubt a winner in every respect. We became aware of your product through the website of the ">Metal Roofing Alliance that led us to your company's own web page. Subsequently, we met with Mr. Robert Allen, Regional Marketing Coordinator of New York's Best Roof, Inc., who fully addressed all of our questions and was readily available throughout the process. Installation was also handled in a very professional manner, and we could not ask for better assistance from either Mr. Allen or the installation crew of New York's Best Roof, Inc. We look forward to many happy years under the security of our new aluminum shingle roof, and would gladly recommend your product and the team from New York's Best Roof, Inc. to anyone. We are also very pleased with the energy savings, maintenance free characteristics and environmentally friendly aspects of our new ">aluminum roof.

To: Interlock / New York's Best Roof My husband and I wanted to write to you to let you know how pleased we are with our entire experience working with Interlock. We now have a beautiful new roof and the process was totally professional and first rate. We first learned about Interlock from information received in the mail. However Mr. Robert Allen, our sales coordinator, gave a very thorough, knowledgeable presentation of the roofing product, answering our questions, showing samples and leaving us with written materials we could look over at our leisure. Mr. Allen was always a phone call away to answer our questions, returning our calls if not the same day certainly with a 24-hour period. Once we decided to purchase an Interlock roof, the time frame spelled out in the contract was adhered to. Financing was available and Mr. Patrick Doyle worked very diligently to get us the best rate of interest available to us. Whatever concerns we had were addressed and the paperwork was simple and straightforward. The installment crew was professional, courteous and hardworking. Our roof was done in 2 1/2 days and clean-up was always done at the end of each day. The crew always spoke with my husband in a polite, unobtrusive manner and did whatever it took to make the installation as easy as possible. Now not only do we have a great looking roof with a 50-year " title="warranty" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty, we also bought a great product. The roofing itself creates minimal waste and is recyclable. It reflects the sun in the summer so our air conditioning works more efficiently. In the winter we no longer have to snow rake the roof, the snow melts off automatically. Our house now seems quieter, even our 14 year old son remarked he didn't know it was raining until the rain hit the windows. Our new roof gives our house a more finished look and according to our tax expert, ">metal roofs are tax-deductible! My husband and I can not only say enough positive things about interlock. We would highly recommend their product and company to anyone considering a new roof. Drive by and see the finished product!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Centre Island

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Centre Island, New York. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Centre Island.

Will a metal roof hold up through Centre Island's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, splitting, or curling—the failure modes of asphalt and wood in freeze-thaw climates. Centre Island experiences about 66 freeze-thaw days per year and roughly 63 cm of snow, conditions that degrade asphalt shingles and wood shakes within 15–20 years. Aluminum's self-healing oxide layer actually strengthens with thermal cycling. The Guardian warranty covers splitting and cracking for the original owner's lifetime, with transfer protection to the next owner for 50 years.

How does an Interlock metal roof handle heavy snow and ice dams?

The four-way interlocking panel design and smooth surface shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, which traps moisture and develops ice dams. Centre Island receives about 1251 mm of annual rainfall plus 63 cm of snow; the metal's continuous interlocking seams and low profile prevent water penetration even during freeze-thaw transitions. Snow guards can be installed at eave edges if retained snow is desired for insulation. The lightweight design (Shingle at ~0.41 lb/sq ft) eliminates the need for structural reinforcement, so older homes on Centre Island can upgrade without foundation or beam work.

Can an Interlock roof withstand Nassau County's coastal wind gusts?

Yes. Centre Island experiences typical wind gusts up to 135 km/h; Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking design creates a unified system that distributes uplift forces across the entire roof plane, preventing panel lift-off and leakage common in high-wind zones. Installation over a solid deck with proper fastening meets ICC-ES ESR-1790 requirements for coastal and storm-prone regions. Homeowners in exposed locations often qualify for wind-related insurance discounts due to the UL 2218 Class 4 impact and wind-resistance ratings.

Why is an aluminum roof better than steel for a home near saltwater?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes when exposed to salt air and moisture. Instead, aluminum forms a transparent, self-healing oxide layer that protects the base metal even if scratched. This is critical on Centre Island, where ocean salt spray accelerates corrosion of steel roofs. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides of every panel) adds a second 30-year warranted barrier against chalking and fading, creating a dual-protection system. Since 1998, Interlock roofs have performed in coastal salt-air homes and an Antarctic research station—environments that would destroy steel in years.

With 1250 mm of rain per year, will the roof leak?

No. The four-way interlocking seams are engineered to overlap and shed water continuously, even during the heavy rainfall Centre Island receives (about 1251 mm annually). Each panel locks on all four sides, creating a unified membrane that routes water downward without pooling or infiltration. Installation over a solid deck with ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliant underlayment adds a secondary water barrier. The warranty covers water penetration, and the 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft weight allows installation over most existing roofs without removing old shingles, reducing labor costs and installation time while maintaining a redundant water shield.

Does a metal roof reduce hail damage and insurance costs?

Yes. Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty specifically covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Insurance companies recognize this durability; many Centre Island homeowners qualify for premium reductions because metal roofs eliminate the repeated hail-damage claims that plague asphalt. The aluminum alloy maintains impact resistance over decades (not degraded by UV, salt air, or the 3115 annual sunshine hours Centre Island receives), whereas asphalt becomes brittle and more prone to puncture after 10–15 years. Request a quote from your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 certificate; savings often offset installation costs within 5–7 years.

How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof need?

Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles (which shed granules and require patching every 5–10 years) or wood shakes (which split and require regular staining), Interlock aluminum panels are inert and non-combustible. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden. Occasional debris clearing and gutter cleaning (standard for any roof) suffice. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty against chalking and fading, combined with aluminum's immunity to rust, rot, and splitting, means no resealing, restaining, or granule replacement over the roof's 50+ year lifespan. Centre Island's 63 cm annual snow and 66 freeze-thaw days accelerate deterioration of asphalt and wood; metal avoids that cycle entirely.

Can my older Centre Island home support a metal roof without reinforcement?

Yes, without structural work. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only ~0.59 lb/sq ft—approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofs without reinforcing beams, trusses, or foundations. Even the Shake profile at ~0.58 lb/sq ft is negligible compared to slate (7–9 lb/sq ft) or traditional tile (10–15 lb/sq ft). Older homes on Centre Island built for asphalt (1–2 lb/sq ft) can be upgraded to the durability of tile without expensive structural engineering. This light weight also distributes load evenly across rafters, reducing stress concentration and extending the life of the underlying framing in freeze-thaw and snow-load conditions.

Is Interlock roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Significantly yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, with no degradation in properties across multiple recycles. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, end up in landfills by the millions of tons yearly and cannot be reclaimed. A roof lasting 50+ years (vs asphalt's 15–20 years) means three fewer tear-offs and landfill dumping over a century. The lightweight design reduces installation waste and allows reroof over existing shingles, eliminating one disposal cycle. energy-efficient colors with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 reduce cooling load in summer, lowering lifetime carbon emissions. Aluminum's durability across 3115 annual sunshine hours and 66 freeze-thaw days in Centre Island's climate eliminates the early replacement cycle that drives asphalt's environmental footprint.

Is an Interlock metal roof worth the upfront cost over asphalt?

Yes, over the roof's life. Asphalt costs $8,000–$12,000 installed on a typical home but requires replacement every 15–20 years; metal costs $20,000–$28,000 but lasts 50+ years with no major repairs. Over a century, asphalt requires 5–6 replacements ($40,000–$72,000 in 2024 dollars) while one Interlock roof with routine maintenance totals $20,000–$28,000. The Guardian warranty is lifetime non-prorated for the original owner and one-time transferable for 50 years to the next owner—no depreciation of coverage. Centre Island's 1251 mm rain, 66 freeze-thaw days, and 135 km/h gusts shorten asphalt lifespans further. Add potential insurance discounts (UL 2218 Class 4), eliminated tear-off and disposal costs, and no structural reinforcement needed, and metal roofing becomes the lower total-cost choice within 25–30 years.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Centre Island’s climate?

Yes. Centre Island averages about 63 cm of snow, 1251 mm of rain, roughly 66 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 135 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
