Originally my house had an aluminum shingle roof by Fin-all. Eleven years later, after an oak tree fell across my house , my insurance company installed a steel shingle roof because they said Fin-all was no longer in business. I was disappointed because I felt the replacement roof was not up to the standard of the aluminum roof that I originally had. Then we had a bad ice storm that broke huge branches from all the trees - sending a large branch spearing through my roof. After failing to be able to find out what kind of roof the insurance company had installed on my house they finally agreed to replace the entire roof again. After much research I finally found Interlock. I found out from Damon that Interlock is actually the company that bought out Fin-all; my original roof! Even though interlock was more expensive than any other estimate I received my insurance company accepted their estimate. All this to say: Interlock is even better than my original roof because they have made improvements on the original design and the quality is obviously better than the steel shingles that were replaced. The Interlock crew chief took the time to explain the differences in manufacturing and installation -Interlock is sturdier and has better texture for a much more appealing look. Both my previous roofs would take damage if walked on but because of the design and texture in these new shingles, they are much sturdier. I am confident that I now have the best roof on the market- and an excellent warranty as well!! Positive: Responsiveness, Quality, Professionalism Services: Roof damage repair, Roof installation

We are completely satisfied with our beautiful new roof. We had an old concrete tile roof before which had developed a few leaks and was extremely heavy for our 1960s house to continue to support. I love the look of a tile roof and really wanted to continue with something that looked similar. Interlock produces a tile look roof which I fell in love with. Yes it is more expensive than most other roofs but the benefits make it worth it in our opinion. The aluminum roof will last for longer than we will, it is the lightest roof we could get and we have definitely noticed the difference in how cool the house has been since it was installed. The garage has been a good 10 degrees or more cooler and is actually comfortable to work in now!The crew of young men who did the installation were fantastic. Victor and his crew had the tile roof and the composition roof underneath torn off and disposed of in two days and the new roof on and the yard completely cleaned up in another two. This was during 100+ degree weather. We had an all-around wonderful experience with Interlock and definitely will recommend them to anyone who needs a new roof. We think our roof is the prettiest one in the whole neighborhood!

Review: August 15, 2021 Completion: March 26, 2019

Update on my Interlock Roof System. I encourage you to read all of this review, because it has a very important element to it, and it might surprise you.I had the roof installed 2 years ago, & as noted in my original review below, the subcontractor at that time was less than attentive. Turns out, his crew was, too. In late 2020, there was a pretty significant leak into the kitchen from the sola tube, which prompted a repair call. The responses from customer service were a bit iffy, but Ivan (super knowledgeable guy) came out to inspect the leaks. At that time he also investigated the leaking behind the gutters & facia boards that had been happening right from the beginning. Apparently there was excessive condensation happening above and below the waterproofing, & it was a mystery why that was happening. It took two attempts to fix the leak into the kitchen, & a few more inspections to investigate the failing roof. There several visits and emails, & finally, in early 2021, I found it necessary to formally executed a warranty claim on the roof to HQ in Canada. I expected resistance. Here is the great part. Not only did Interlock Roofing take my warranty claim seriously, having Ivan come back yet again & open up a portion of the roof to inspect further; Mr. Yvon Giroux, VP of Installation in Canada, decided to have his best crew come out & completely tear off not only the Interlock Roof, but the asphalt roof underneath it as well, & start from absolute scratch. A fully new installation. To no one's surprise, they found mistakes were done by the first subcontracting crew (who didn't work for Interlock very long that year). I can tell you, the crew that came out last week were top notch. I haven't seen that amount of dedicated hard work in a very long time. It was obvious right from the start this crew was knowledgeable & well polished.I am so impressed with the Interlock Roofing System, the Company, and their integrity! The tear off, any repairs, & full installation was done in 2 days. Right after, we had several days of heavy rain. Not. One. Drip. Anywhere. The roof is even more attractive and beautiful than before. Interlock earned every one of their 5 stars. The roof is amazing, and I am one very satisfied customer.\*\*Original Review\*\*The roof is amazing. It looks great and the neighbors compliment it all the time. Big bonus is I have hardly used my air conditioning at all this year. What Interlock told me appears to be pretty spot on as far as the roof keeping the house cooler during hot weather. And finally, I really enjoy not having to get up on the roof several times a year to maintain it, knowing it is going to outlast me.The company was very gentle with us when we asked to postpone our fall scheduled installation for a few months due to a series of deaths, and as soon as weather permitted in the spring, we had the roof installed. The only thing that I was not thrilled about was when the installers arrived, I found out they were not employed by Interlock, as we were led to believe when we signed the contract last year. Quite honestly, had I known the installation was sub-contracted out, it would have been a deal breaker and I wouldn't have signed the contract. The sub-contractor was often busy with his other business needs and wasn't always on site during the installation. I understand his crew might only work on Interlock installations, but the owner of the contracting business was not solely dedicated to Interlock. He was a really nice guy, but not super attentive to my questions or concerns, which came back to haunt him later. I had requested a customer service follow-up after the installation that took a couple of months to have my concerned addressed fully. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the sub-contractor instead of employees for the install, and the fact the customer service response was pretty slow. In the end, Interlock made good on everything. I still recommend them as a company, and I definitely recommend the roof. Services: Roof inspection, Roof installation, Roof repair

Looks great, unlike the common metal roofs you see.And being aluminum it won't rust out. Recently we had freezing rain which caused some tree limbs to break off and fall from a tree close to our house which demolished one gutter and part of another one, also partially smashing a roof vent ; but the metal roof held up supprisingly well. We also had a forest fire this past summer before putting this roof on that came close.A metal roof is just a little more deterent you can add against such events.5 stars. Damon, the installers, and everyone at interlock were wonderful and easy to work with. THANKS . Positive, Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, Value, Services: Roof installation

Review: June 15, 2020 Completion: February 26, 2018

We had our roof replaced about 1.5 years ago with Interlock and the experience was amazing. They were easy to schedule, matched their estimate to the cent, helped us find a great financing company, and were ahead of schedule. The whole process from meeting & picking from a great selection to watching them tear down layers of shingles and apply a seamless roof was impressively efficient. It still looks amazing, and we’ve had no problems. I’d highly recommend them & their products. Our house is a ton lighter, easier to maintain and is more efficient to heat & cool. Great product, great selection, and great company overall. Positive Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Value

Excellent product and insulation was also excellent. I would recommend this product as the last roof your house will ever need. The fir needles wash off with a good rain and the slate roof looks just like slate. AAA+++

Review: March 9, 2017 Completion: December 30, 2016

We had a metal roof already, but we wanted a nicer looking metal roof that didn’t stand out in the neighborhood. After seeing the Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems at the Home Improvement Show, we set up an appointment. I had already checked them out on their website, so it wasn’t whether or not we were going to do the roof, rather what style and color did we want. Interlock kept us up to date on when they would be out here. The installers arrived in December 2016 and in two days we had a new roof. They were the most polite workers that we have ever had at the house. They showed us the material they that lay down before the roof goes on it was a very thick underlayment. No wonder our house is 5 degrees warmer and the heater doesn’t come on as much as it did before. They did an excellent job of clean up. You could not even tell that we had anything done outside. A few weeks after the roof was installed Glenn Boss and his boss showed up in person to make sure that everything was right and see if we had any questions. You do not see this level of service anywhere. This year here in the Pacific Northwest we have gotten a record amount of rain. With our old metal roof, it would have been really loud, but with the Interlock Roofing System, we can barely hear it. The only way that we knew it is raining is if we hear it hit the windows or we look outside and see it coming down. We just love our new roof! The house looks so much nicer than it did before with our other metal roof. And we are really enjoying how much warmer our home is now.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Hubbard

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Hubbard, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Hubbard.

Why doesn't aluminum metal roofing rust like steel roofs, and why does that matter in Oregon's wet climate?

Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust at all—even in Hubbard's 1,329 mm of annual rainfall. Instead, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal when scratched or damaged. Combined with the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, your roof resists corrosion and maintains its coating integrity for 30 years. Steel alternatives require ongoing maintenance to prevent oxidation; aluminum does not.

Does a metal roof leak in heavy rain like Hubbard gets?

The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed water with overlapped seams that direct rainfall away from the deck. Hubbard receives about 1,329 mm of rain annually, and the standing-seam and slate profiles excel at rapid drainage. When installed over solid decking with underlayment—the standard approach—water has nowhere to pool or penetrate. Combined with professional installation to ICC-ES ESR-1790 specifications, leak risk is eliminated at the roofing plane.

How much lighter is metal roofing than slate or tile, and can my house handle it?

Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. The Slate profile is even lighter. This weight advantage means you need zero structural reinforcement, and the roof often installs directly over an existing roof. Hubbard's typical 16 km/h winds with gusts to 111 km/h impose far less stress on a lightweight aluminum system than on heavy traditional materials, improving both safety and installation cost.

Will a metal roof hold up to Oregon wind and ice-storm gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Hubbard's typical gusts reach 111 km/h, well within this capacity. The interlocking design distributes wind load across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fasteners alone. During freeze-thaw cycles—Hubbard averages about 39 per year—the aluminum's flexibility and lack of brittleness prevent the stress cracking that weakens asphalt shingles and traditional tiles.

What happens if hail hits my metal roof, and will my insurance help pay for it?

Interlock holds the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability record often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts; contact your agent with the UL 2218 rating and warranty details. Hubbard's 3,054 annual sunshine hours mean hail is infrequent, but when severe weather does occur, aluminum's non-brittle nature and impact rating provide superior protection compared to asphalt shingles or slate.

How long does a metal roof last, and what does the warranty actually cover?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—defects that plague asphalt, wood, and traditional tile. The warranty transfers once, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. This dual-owner protection, combined with aluminum's inability to rust and the 30-year Alunar coating warranty against chalking and fading, means you install the last roof your house will need.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Aluminum requires virtually no maintenance. Asphalt shingles degrade under Hubbard's UV exposure (3,054 sunshine hours annually) and fail in freeze-thaw cycles (about 39 per year), demanding roof replacement every 15–20 years. Wood shakes absorb the region's 1,329 mm of annual rainfall, leading to rot, mold, and costly repairs. Interlock's aluminum never rots, never splits from moisture, and the CALGreen-verified design eliminates the maintenance burden—just occasional visual inspections and gutter cleaning.

Will a metal roof reduce my heating and cooling costs in Oregon?

energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs. In summer, this reduces cooling load; in winter, the reflectance still matters on sunny days throughout Hubbard's 3,054 annual sunshine hours. The Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms measurable energy performance. Combined with the aluminum's thermal conductivity—it distributes heat efficiently—you lower overall HVAC strain across seasonal swings.

How long does it take to install a metal roof, and can you install it over my existing roof?

Interlock's lightweight design—the Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft—installs directly over most existing roofs without decking removal, cutting labor time and disposal costs significantly. Installation proceeds faster than asphalt or tile, typically completing single-family projects within days rather than weeks. The four-way interlocking panels require precision alignment, not complex flashing. A professional installer like Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving this region since 1997, can walk you through timeline and site-specific options during a no-obligation assessment.

Is a metal roof actually better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Hubbard-area roofing waste otherwise accumulates thousands of tons of non-biodegradable asphalt annually. When your aluminum roof finally reaches end of life—potentially beyond your lifetime—it enters the recycling stream as raw material for new products. This closed-loop approach, verified under CALGreen standards, contrasts sharply with asphalt shingles that degrade under 3,054 hours of annual sun, demand replacement every 15–20 years, and contribute to persistent landfill burden.
