Communication from the administrative staff Roof looks great. However the scheduling, communication and the ordering of the wrong color really made this more difficult and confusing than the job needed to be (Rolland and Lavenna). YES, homeowners typically need play by play communications since their lives are impacted by this rather large type of job - and that means responding in a timely fashion and being aware. Not professional to ask for full payment before the job begins, either (Lavenna). Perhaps more employee training? We hope this helps. Thank you.

The skylight above my front door still fogs up in the morning. Very different than the other one. The installer guy (I forgot his name - he was nice) said it will go away when I put the sheetrock in. If it doesn't, I hope to have you guys still sort out that issue.

We had a pushed back start date. That was about it.

Review: August 11, 2016Completion: July 9, 2016

They could improve on the sales technique and quoting of your prices. There were two guys who made the sale and one of them quoted a $1600 price for each skylight, in the end it was $585. The second guy said he never quoted that price and I could never get a hold of the one who did. It is not a big deal. The whole sales technique you use is high pressure. I did go with it because I wanted a long lasting roof. I think you need to make the sales a little softer somehow. That almost made me go with someone else. It is a good roof and they did a good job. The guys on site did really good.

My wife and I chose the cedar shake look. It turned out very nicely. The crew took the time they needed to do the job right and explained the steps they were taking along the way. If you are looking for a high quality, long lasting, product that will impress, look no further. Services: Roof installation

Review: August 16, 2021Completion: July 26, 2021

While the product is excellent, the customer service regarding installation was poor. Multiple times I was given a date and time for installation, and the day ended with no one showing up or notifying me that there had been a change. They need to have better customer service and provide accurate information that they'll stick to.

The project was very professional and the crew was great. I was less enthusiastic about the selling tactics. Part of the roof was just damaged in a storm so we will be contacting you soon.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Oak Grove

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Oak Grove, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Oak Grove.

Will a metal roof handle Oak Grove's snow and ice, or should I worry about buildup?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface won't trap moisture the way porous shingles do. Oak Grove averages about 48 cm of snow annually with roughly 36 freeze-thaw cycles per year—exactly the pattern that stresses traditional roofing. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, and the lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means snow load never strains your structure. If you'd like extra protection in heavy snow years, optional snow guards are available. The real advantage: ice dams that plague asphalt simply don't form on aluminum.

Why can't an aluminum roof rust, and does that actually matter in the Pacific Northwest?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and causes rust stains. Instead, aluminum forms a microscopic, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath. In the PNW's wet climate (1468 mm of rain per year), this distinction is crucial: steel roofs gradually corrode, creating streaks and weakening seams, while aluminum stays structurally sound. Interlock applies Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating to both sides of every panel, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading—extra insurance for regions with persistent moisture and salt air exposure. You get a roof that improves with age rather than deteriorates.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost if I'm comparing it to asphalt shingles?

Metal roofing costs more initially, but you're buying your last roof. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years in Oak Grove's freeze-thaw cycle; Interlock's Guardian Warranty covers the original owner for life, then transfers 50 years to the next owner. That means one installation replaces 2–3 asphalt roofs over the same timeframe, eliminating repeated tear-off costs and labor. Add the regional promotion—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—and the math shifts immediately. Factor in potential insurance discounts for the UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating, and energy savings from reflective coatings, and you're looking at decades of predictable, zero-maintenance protection. Current regional financing makes it accessible now.

Will a metal roof really save me money on heating and cooling in Oak Grove?

Oak Grove receives about 2957 sunshine hours annually, and reflective metal roofs capitalize on every sunny day. energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve up to 0.55 initial solar reflectance and 0.84 thermal emissivity, meaning they bounce heat away rather than absorb it like dark asphalt. This reduces cooling demand during warmer months and keeps attic temperatures lower year-round, easing strain on HVAC systems. The Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms measurable energy savings. In a maritime climate with variable sun, the benefit compounds over years: lower energy bills every season. Combined with the roof's longevity, you're locking in efficiency gains for decades.

What protection does a metal roof offer against hail, and can I get an insurance discount?

Interlock metal roofing carries the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the material absorbs severe impacts without loss of impact resistance. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts for Class 4 roofs in hail-prone regions. While Oak Grove isn't classified as extreme hail territory, the regional wind gusts reach 116 km/h, and severe weather can include hail. A non-combustible, impact-rated roof often qualifies for better rates. Contact your insurer directly, but the aluminum's proven resilience is a conversation starter that can lower your costs.

How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood shakes?

Metal requires almost no maintenance. Asphalt shingles in Oak Grove's wet, freeze-thaw climate need frequent inspection for curling, moss, and damage; wood shakes demand yearly cleaning and mineral treatment to prevent rot and splitting; tile roofs require mortar repointing. Interlock aluminum sheds debris, resists moss growth, and the Alunar® 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty) never needs reapplication. Occasional gutter cleaning suffices. The Guardian Warranty covers cracking, curling, splitting, and rot—issues that plague other materials. With 1468 mm of annual rainfall and 36 freeze-thaw days, your roof faces real stress; aluminum simply weathers it without degradation or maintenance expense.

How long does installation take, and can a metal roof go over my existing shingles?

Most metal roof installations take 3–5 days depending on roof size and pitch. Interlock's lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means installation often happens over existing asphalt without structural reinforcement—a major labor and cost saving. The installer removes only flashing and valleys, lays down a solid deck or uses existing decking, adds underlayment, and interlocks the panels. This approach avoids landfill waste from tear-off and shortens project duration. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and understands Oak Grove's compliance with ICC-ES ESR-1790 standards. The local team can assess your roof and confirm the over-existing-roof path during a no-cost consultation.

Is a metal roof fire-rated, and does that lower my insurance further?

Interlock aluminum roofing achieves Class A fire classification (the highest) when tested for non-combustibility. Aluminum itself is non-combustible—it won't ignite or spread flame. This rating exceeds asphalt and wood, and meets CALGreen building standards verified for reduced maintenance and durability. Many insurers recognize Class A ratings as a separate discount opportunity beyond impact or structural benefits. In the context of Oak Grove's climate, a non-combustible roof also provides peace of mind: while wildfire risk is modest locally, the added resilience protects your home if external fire exposure occurs. It's another layer of insurance recognition that can compound savings.

Does a metal roof weigh too much, or can my house handle it?

Interlock metal is extraordinarily light compared to traditional slate or tile. The Slate profile installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft and the Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This weightless footprint means no structural reinforcement is required, even on older homes. Standard residential framing easily bears metal's load; asphalt shingles weigh roughly the same, so your structure is already rated for it. The real advantage: you avoid the $3,000–$8,000 cost of beam reinforcement that tile demands. Interlock's lightweight design is why installation often proceeds over existing shingles without adding stress, a critical benefit in Oak Grove's older neighborhoods. Your house stays as-is.

Are metal roofs secure in high winds, especially in Oak Grove's storm season?

Oak Grove experiences typical daily winds around 15 km/h with gusts recorded to 116 km/h—enough to stress conventional roofing. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels form a unified system that resists wind by distributing force across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. The warranty covers wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The interlocking design means each panel locks to four neighbors, creating redundancy: if one fastener loosens, the system remains secure. This engineering is why Interlock has been installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station since 1998. In regional storms, you're protected by proven, tested design.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Oak Grove’s climate?

Yes. Oak Grove averages about 48 cm of snow, 1468 mm of rain, roughly 36 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 116 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
