If it would have not been so expensive I would have chosen the company.

Review: December 2, 2016 Completion: October 7, 2016

The roof when it rains is very noisy. I think with their starting time, it should be from dawn to dusk that they work. Several nights they were up on the roof with headlamps and I don't think that is right in doing a roof. They could do better with the clean up of the site. I don't think it is a good idea to be up on my roof with head lamps on.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Wilsonville

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Wilsonville, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Wilsonville.

Does metal roofing handle heavy rain well? What about Wilsonville's wet winters?

Metal roofing excels in heavy rain because the four-way interlocking aluminum panels create a continuous, overlapped surface with no exposed fasteners—water simply sheds off without pooling or seeping into seams. Wilsonville receives about 1208 mm of annual rainfall, and the solid deck plus underlayment system ensures leak protection even during the region's wettest months. The tight panel interlock means water pressure never forces moisture upward into the structure, making this roofing system ideal for climates where precipitation volume is high and prolonged.

Can a metal roof handle Wilsonville's wind and gusts?

Yes—Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph when properly installed, and Wilsonville experiences typical gusts around 120 km/h (75 mph), well within that safety margin. The four-way interlocking panel design means each piece locks to its neighbors on all four edges, creating a unified system that distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. During the region's windier seasons, this engineering protects both the panels and the structure beneath, with no rattling or panel lift.

Does metal roofing need structural reinforcement, or will my home's frame handle it?

Your existing structure almost certainly handles metal roofing without reinforcement—that's one of aluminum's greatest advantages. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Compare that to the snow loads Wilsonville sees (about 29 cm annually) and the freeze-thaw stress of roughly 37 winter cycles per year: traditional materials create constant structural strain, whereas aluminum metal roofing can often be installed directly over your existing roof with no costly frame upgrades.

Why is aluminum roofing better than steel in a wet climate like ours?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—that fundamental difference matters greatly in wet, coastal-influenced climates. When aluminum is scratched or exposed, it forms an oxide layer that self-heals and actually protects the metal underneath. Wilsonville's 1208 mm annual rainfall and occasional salt-air influence from the Willamette Valley make this chemical immunity invaluable. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides) adds an extra 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, ensuring your roof resists the combined corrosion stress that steel roofing simply cannot survive.

What's the hail rating on metal roofing, and could it lower my insurance?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That robustness can qualify you for insurance discounts in hail-prone regions, and while Wilsonville isn't a high-hail zone, the Class 4 rating means zero worry during spring storms. When you add in the 37 freeze-thaw cycles the region experiences annually, the aluminum's impact resistance remains unchanged year after year, unlike asphalt or wood that degrade with thermal stress. Many insurers recognize this resilience.

Will a metal roof reduce my cooling bills in summer?

Metal roofing in energy-efficient colors reflects rather than absorbs solar heat, with reflectance values up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning less heat transfers into your home. Wilsonville receives about 3033 sunshine hours annually, so even in the Pacific Northwest's moderate climate, summer cooling costs add up. The reflective coating pushes heat away before it reaches your attic, lowering air-conditioning load on warmer days. Over a 50-year lifespan, these energy savings compound, particularly if you choose lighter energy-efficiency finishes that also coordinate beautifully with local architectural styles.

How long does metal roofing actually last, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years from completion, which effectively means your roof is covered for as long as you and the next owner live there. In Wilsonville's climate, with 37 annual freeze-thaw cycles and ~16 km/h mean winds, that longevity matters: aluminum doesn't suffer the thermal-stress failures (curling, splitting) that plague asphalt and wood. This is the last roof most homeowners will install.

How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires minimal maintenance—no granule loss tracking into gutters, no moss growth cycles like wood, no thermal cracking from Wilsonville's 37 annual freeze-thaw days. You'll rinse debris twice yearly and check gutters, but that's it. Asphalt shingles need regular inspection for curling and granule wear in these conditions, while cedar shake demands annual treatment to prevent rot and splitting. Aluminum's Alunar coating (30-year warranty against chalking and fading) means the finish stays vibrant without refinishing. The CALGreen compliance verification confirms reduced maintenance burden, saving you thousands in labor and material costs over the roof's life.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost, or should I stick with asphalt?

Metal roofing costs more initially but becomes the last roof you buy—that's the financial reality. Over 50 years, you'd replace asphalt shingles 3–4 times in Wilsonville's freeze-thaw environment (roughly 37 cycles per year accelerate asphalt aging), plus pay for repairs, maintenance, and eventual landfill disposal. Metal roofing eliminates those cycles and ends the tear-off-to-landfill waste pattern. Current financing includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—meaning you can spread the cost across years while your asphalt roof is already failing. Homeowners who quantify total-cost-of-ownership consistently find aluminum saves 30–50% over five decades.

Does a metal roof add resale value to my Wilsonville home?

Yes—metal roofing is a visible, long-lasting upgrade that signals quality to buyers. Unlike asphalt shingles (which show age and wear), or wood shakes (which raise maintenance and liability concerns), a metal roof in Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, or Standing Seam profile looks modern yet timeless. Buyers in Wilsonville recognize that a metal roof eliminates their first major expense and hassle, which translates directly into higher perceived value. The non-prorated lifetime warranty transfer (50 years to the next owner) also becomes a marketing asset—you're essentially offering the buyer a roof-system guarantee. Combined with energy savings and the region's 3033 annual sunshine hours showing off your roof's finish, that curb appeal converts to measurable price appreciation.
