Everything was great. I would've gone with them, but if you want people to buy your roof, your interest rate is ridiculous. The salesman was a great guy and the company gave me a discount, but I couldn't see paying a 12.9% interest rate for 15 years. That's something you should work on or you would have had me.

Review: April 7, 2016Completion: February 29, 2016

During installation there are a lot of small metal shards littering the yard. They were in the bushes, flowers, on our deck, and in the grass. I even found some on the driveway and could of easily punctured a tire. The only time they were cleaned up was at the end instead of every day. We have dogs and they were at rick of cutting their paws during the entire installation. They should have covered bushes and should have tried harder to ensure a safer environment during installation. This would have been a bigger issue with young children. They cleaned up at the end and after making them walk around multiple times we signed off. Though even a month later I can still find one.

The interesting thing, and it still irritates me, is the estimate form looked like something I would've expected out of a company that started 3-4 weeks ago.

There could have been more communication regarding the changes that we wanted to make mid-way through the project. My roofing crew was great.

There was a slight miscommunication regarding location of the roof vents. We sort of had to guess how to get it fixed. Fortunately your customer service was very responsive and got the issue straightened out same day.

They don't deal honestly with their customers, and you have to watch them the whole time. You contract them for one thing, and they subcontract for something else. You need to check with the sub's contract and compare it to what you contracted them for because they try to skim. They could have improved with a more thorough assessment prior to the contract, adherence to the contract as it was written, and not trying to cheat us by contracting the sub to do something different from what I paid for. If I had not had asked for the sub's contract, I would not have known. That is what they were counting on.

Took a little longer to get the project started than quoted. The scheduler appears a little overextended. Product is expensive, but I am pleased with the results and look of the roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Crompton

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Crompton, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Crompton.

Does metal roofing handle Rhode Island's snow and ice better than asphalt?

Yes. Crompton receives roughly 75 cm of snow annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt shingles because the smooth, hard surface prevents adhesion and ice dam formation. The panels' extraordinary lightness—the Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft—means no structural reinforcement is needed even in snow-loading zones. Aluminum's non-porous oxide layer won't absorb moisture that leads to freeze-thaw damage. Over an 80 freeze-thaw cycle year typical here, that resilience compounds.

Can aluminum roofing rust in a humid New England climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects against corrosion—a critical advantage in Crompton's ~1264 mm of annual rainfall. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is applied to both sides of every panel and carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading under ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards. Steel roofing requires constant maintenance to prevent rust; aluminum requires none. This aluminum-versus-steel distinction becomes obvious after 10–15 years in wet climates.

Will freezing and thawing cycles crack or degrade an aluminum roof?

No. Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly with temperature swings, and unlike asphalt or wood, it doesn't absorb moisture that causes material breakdown during freeze-thaw cycling. Crompton experiences about 80 freeze-thaw days per year, making this durability critical. The four-way interlocking system accommodates panel movement while maintaining watertight seals. ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms performance under thermal cycling, and the Guardian Warranty covers cracking, curling, and splitting for the life of the original owner—a non-prorated guarantee that reflects confidence in aluminum's freeze-thaw resilience.

Can I get an insurance discount for a metal roof rated for hail?

Impact resistance is rated UL 2218 Class 4—the highest available—meaning your Interlock roof resists hailstones up to 1.5 inches without perforation. Many insurers offer discounts for Class 4 impact-rated roofing. The aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) absorbs impact energy without shattering or losing structural integrity the way asphalt or tile can. Because you're investing in a roof that resists the damage that drives insurance claims, contact your carrier about premium reductions. Some homeowners see the cost difference between aluminum and asphalt vanish within the first few years through lower premiums.

How does interlocking metal roofing perform in Crompton's winter wind gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Crompton's typical wind gusts reach about 125 km/h (78 mph), well within this rating. The interlocking design distributes uplift forces across the entire roof assembly rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners. Unlike single-layer shingles, aluminum panels lock together mechanically, so wind cannot work its way under edges or corners. This design has performed at coastal research stations and salt-air environments for over 25 years since 1998 manufacturing began in Delta, BC.

Do I need to reinforce my house structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is required. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and can install directly over most existing roofs without load upgrades. Even the heavier Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is negligible compared to traditional tile. This lightweight advantage matters in Crompton, where your home has already settled under an asphalt roof's dead load. Installing aluminum over an existing asphalt layer is straightforward, faster, and avoids the cost and disruption of structural work. The Guardian Warranty applies the moment installation is complete.

What maintenance does an aluminum metal roof actually need?

Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles, which require regular inspection and repair starting year 5–8, or wood shake that needs treatment and re-nailing, aluminum resists splitting, cracking, curling, and rotting by design. The Alunar coating prevents fading and chalking for 30 years under warranty. The non-porous oxide layer and sealed panel interlocks eliminate the moisture-absorption cycles that plague traditional materials. Occasional gutter cleaning is the same as any roof. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance needs. Over Crompton's ~3075 annual sunshine hours and 80 freeze-thaw cycles, this difference accumulates into hundreds of dollars saved versus asphalt over a 40-year lifespan.

What's the actual warranty on an Interlock aluminum roof?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It is transferable one time to the next owner, who receives 50 years of coverage from completion. Non-prorated means you pay nothing for defects whether they occur year one or year 50. This structure reflects the product's durability: aluminum doesn't age like asphalt. For Crompton homeowners, this is the last roof you'll buy and likely the last your buyer will need, making it the true cost-per-year bargain against multiple asphalt replacements over 60+ years.

Is metal roofing fire-resistant in Rhode Island?

Yes. Aluminum is non-combustible and achieves Class A fire classification when installed with appropriate underlayment. Unlike asphalt shingles, which ignite and contribute to fire spread, aluminum roofing halts fire propagation at the roof surface. ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms compliance with IBC/IRC fire-rating requirements. For homeowners concerned about wildfire exposure or near forested areas, and those seeking lower homeowners insurance rates, Class A certification is a tangible safety advantage. Rhode Island building codes recognize this benefit, and the non-combustible status of aluminum can qualify for insurance premium reductions depending on your carrier's underwriting.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Crompton, Rhode Island?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. serves Crompton and the surrounding region, with roots here since 1999—over 25 years of local installation experience. They understand Crompton's snow loads, freeze-thaw patterns, and wind exposure, and they install per ICC-ESR-1790 specification to ensure your warranty is valid. Currently, the region is offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off metal roof installation. Contact the local installer to schedule a free inspection and quote; they can assess whether installing over your existing roof is feasible, which typically saves time and cost compared to tear-off and replacement.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Crompton’s climate?

Yes. Crompton averages about 75 cm of snow, 1264 mm of rain, roughly 80 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 125 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
