What our customers are saying:

★★★★★
Review: August 15, 2018 Completion: June 8, 2018

Well, I stand corrected. First I want to apologize for the tone of my last email. I was anticipating a high pressure sales pitch, and dealing with some health issues at present, I was in no mood to deal with being pressured to buy something. Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised with Michael. Although he presented a good argument of why and how Interlock was a good roof product, at no time did my wife or I feel pressured into buying your product. Also, as I've been burned a couple of times in the past, I made it a personal rule that I NEVER sign a contract on first meeting. As you can see, apparently I broke my own rule in this case, as my wife and I had already researched other roof products and it appeared that Interlock was a reputable company with many favorable reviews. Also, much of our opinion was based in no small measure in the way Michael Baldassari presented himself, the company, and the product. Having said this, we look forward with anticipation to showing off our new roof and are hopeful that others in our neighborhood will appreciated the beauty and benefits of an Interlock all metal roof as well.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Potowomut

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Potowomut, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Potowomut.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice the way asphalt does in Rhode Island winters?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because its smooth, interlocking surface reduces friction and prevents buildup. Potowomut receives about 75 cm of snow annually, plus roughly 80 freeze-thaw cycles each year—conditions that crack and degrade asphalt fast. Interlock's aluminum panels are warranted to 120 mph wind gusts, so they anchor snow loads safely during the winter-to-spring thaw when ice dams commonly form on traditional roofs. The lightweight design also eliminates structural stress from accumulated snow.

How does aluminum roofing survive Potowomut's freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum's crystal structure doesn't weaken or crack under repeated freezing and thawing because it has no iron and cannot rust. Around 80 freeze-thaw days per year in this region stress asphalt shingles—causing splits and separation—but Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy is unaffected by temperature swings. Its Alunar coating (30-year warranty against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214) also remains flexible across the full range from winter lows to summer highs, preventing the brittleness that degrades traditional roofing.

Why does aluminum never rust like steel roofing, and why does that matter here?

Aluminum contains no iron; rust is impossible. Instead, aluminum develops an invisible oxide layer that self-heals when scratched—a property called passivation. With about 1264 mm of annual rainfall, Potowomut homes face constant moisture exposure that attacks steel and corrodes asphalt granules. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum with Alunar fluorocarbon finish applied to both panel sides, giving you the same protection in wet coastal-air climates as research stations in Antarctica. Steel roofing requires ongoing maintenance; aluminum does not.

Can metal roofing really withstand Rhode Island coastal gusts and nor'easters?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Potowomut experiences typical gusts around 125 km/h (78 mph), but winter storms and seasonal transitions push peak gusts well into your roof's design margin. The interlocking system distributes uplift forces across the entire roof, unlike shingles that fail at edges and overlaps. Even under extreme conditions, this design keeps panels locked in place while asphalt shingles peel and tear.

How long does metal roofing last, and what does the warranty really cover?

Interlock offers a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty to the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty is one-time transferable, so the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion. This outlasts asphalt (15-25 years), wood shake (20 years), and concrete tile (30-50 years) because aluminum neither decays nor oxidizes. In Potowomut's 80 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 1264 mm rainfall, traditional materials fail long before your roof does.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over a 50-year horizon, metal roofing is genuinely cheaper. Asphalt requires replacement every 15-25 years; in Potowomut's moisture-heavy climate with 75 cm annual snow and 80 freeze-thaw days, you'll replace it sooner. Each replacement costs money and labor; metal installs once. You'll also avoid the asphalt tear-off cycle—95% of Interlock's aluminum is recyclable, whereas old asphalt fills landfills. The current regional promotion (no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation) makes this the right time financially. One roof for the life of your home beats three.

Does a metal roof really cut cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) reflect rather than absorb heat that dark asphalt absorbs. Potowomut receives about 3075 sunshine hours annually—plenty of opportunity for asphalt to heat your attic and drive air-conditioning costs up. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms measurable reflectance. On summer days when asphalt surfaces reach 70°C or higher, reflective metal stays cooler, reducing the temperature gradient that forces your HVAC system to work harder.

How long does installation take, and can it go over my existing roof?

Interlock installs quickly—most residential projects finish in one to three days. Because the panels weigh only 0.41 lb/sq ft (Shingle profile) to 0.59 lb/sq ft (Tile), you can install over most existing asphalt, wood, or even light tile without structural reinforcement. This eliminates the messy tear-off, reduces labor, and speeds occupancy. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served this region since 1999 and understands Potowomut's building codes and local weather. They coordinate with permitting and handle the installation end-to-end so you stay dry and worry-free.

Is metal roofing fire-safe, and does it meet local building codes?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is non-combustible and achieves Class A fire classification, the highest rating. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) confirms compliance with IBC/IRC standards, so your roof meets all Rhode Island building codes. Aluminum cannot ignite or spread flame—a serious advantage in regions prone to wildfires or where fire-resistant construction is required for insurance discounts. Because the roof also carries CALGreen verification for reduced maintenance, you're meeting modern sustainability and safety standards simultaneously.

Can I get a metal roof that actually looks like slate, shake, or tile?

Interlock offers five visually distinct profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—so you choose the aesthetic that suits your home without compromising durability. Each profile uses the same durable 3105-H24 aluminum with dual-sided Alunar coating (30-year warranty), four-way interlocking panels, and UL 2218 Class 4 hail resistance. The difference is texture and dimension: Cedar Shingle and Shake mimic wood grain, Slate replicates stone, Mediterranean Tile echoes clay or concrete. Potowomut's diverse architecture means you can match your home's character while upgrading to a roof that outlasts traditional materials by decades.
