What our customers are saying:

★★★★★
Review: August 15, 2018 Completion: June 8, 2018

Well, I stand corrected. First I want to apologize for the tone of my last email. I was anticipating a high pressure sales pitch, and dealing with some health issues at present, I was in no mood to deal with being pressured to buy something. Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised with Michael. Although he presented a good argument of why and how Interlock was a good roof product, at no time did my wife or I feel pressured into buying your product. Also, as I've been burned a couple of times in the past, I made it a personal rule that I NEVER sign a contract on first meeting. As you can see, apparently I broke my own rule in this case, as my wife and I had already researched other roof products and it appeared that Interlock was a reputable company with many favorable reviews. Also, much of our opinion was based in no small measure in the way Michael Baldassari presented himself, the company, and the product. Having said this, we look forward with anticipation to showing off our new roof and are hopeful that others in our neighborhood will appreciated the beauty and benefits of an Interlock all metal roof as well.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Pilgrim Park

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Pilgrim Park, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Pilgrim Park.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow in Rhode Island winters?

Interlock metal roofing sheds snow efficiently because its smooth, interlocking aluminum panels resist ice adhesion far better than asphalt. Pilgrim Park receives about 75 cm of snow annually over roughly 80 freeze-thaw days, making this durability critical. The four-way interlocking system prevents water infiltration during repeated melt-refreeze cycles. Optional snow guards can be installed where code requires it, and the aluminum's extreme lightness—the Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft—means no structural concerns even when snow temporarily loads the roof.

Will freeze-thaw cycles crack or damage an aluminum metal roof?

No. Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly with temperature swings, and the material has no moisture absorption—it cannot crack, split, or rot the way wood shingles or concrete tile do. Your area experiences about 80 freeze-thaw days yearly, plus roughly 1264 mm of annual rainfall, both conditions that destroy asphalt and wood. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and Alunar 70% PVDF two-sided coating remain stable through decades of this cycling. The Guardian Warranty explicitly covers splitting and cracking for the original owner's lifetime.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

Not with Interlock. The Slate, Shingle, and Shake profiles weigh between 0.41 and 0.58 lb/sq ft—so light that most existing roof structures require zero reinforcement. Even the Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the appearance of concrete or clay tile, weighs approximately 96% less than the real thing, eliminating costly structural upgrades. This weight advantage lets Interlock install directly over many existing asphalt roofs, saving tear-off labor and landfill fees. The installation can proceed immediately after the existing deck is inspected and prepped—no structural engineer reports needed.

Can a metal roof survive Rhode Island's coastal wind gusts?

Yes. Pilgrim Park's typical gusts reach about 125 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The mechanical lock between panels distributes lateral forces across the entire roof plane rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners. Interlock also holds UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—which reinforces panel strength under extreme conditions. Your area's wind exposure makes this structural redundancy a real advantage over single-fastened or glued-down systems.

Will hail damage my metal roof, and could it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock aluminum panels are rated UL 2218 Class 4 for impact—the highest classification available. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts on homes with Class 4 metal roofing, offsetting some of your installation cost. While Pilgrim Park's climate data doesn't point to extreme hail frequency, the built-in protection is valuable insurance. The lightweight aluminum also means no structural damage risk even from large hail; an asphalt roof or clay tile roof cannot make that claim.

Is a metal roof more affordable than asphalt over its lifetime?

Yes, when you count the full cost of ownership. Asphalt roofs typically last 15–25 years and require tear-off, disposal, and reinstallation—a cycle that repeats multiple times in a metal roof's lifespan. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, making it the last roof you buy. The transferable 50-year term to the next owner protects your home's value across decades. Currently, Interlock offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—terms that narrow the upfront gap. Over 50+ years, aluminum's zero maintenance and single installation win decisively.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?

Virtually none. Interlock aluminum doesn't degrade, fade significantly, or require re-coating. Asphalt shingles need granule replacement and seal-coating every few years; wood shakes require staining and repair; clay and concrete tiles crack and need individual replacement. Pilgrim Park's 1264 mm annual rainfall and 75 cm of snow simply wash debris from your aluminum panels. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, and your only routine task is clearing gutters and inspecting for debris after storms. The Guardian Warranty covers no maintenance costs for the original owner—contrast that with the hidden expense of asphalt or wood.

Does heavy rainfall cause leaks in a metal roof?

No. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels overlap and lock mechanically, directing water downslope without relying on caulk, sealant, or glue. Pilgrim Park receives about 1264 mm of rain annually—enough to expose any poorly sealed roof—yet aluminum's smooth surface and overlapped joints shed water faster than asphalt. The system is tested to ICC-ES ESR-1790 standards and holds a lifetime limited warranty against leaks for the original owner. Installed over a solid deck with proper underlayment, an Interlock metal roof is quieter than you'd expect and remains watertight through decades of coastal New England rainfall.

Is an aluminum metal roof actually more environmentally responsible?

Substantially. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, breaking the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that claims millions of tons annually. Your roof stays on the home for 50+ years, eliminating multiple demolition events and disposal burdens. Aluminum production is energy-intensive historically, but once installed, the material's reflectivity (up to 0.55 solar reflectance on select energy-efficiency colors) reduces cooling demand over decades. Pilgrim Park's roughly 3075 annual sunshine hours let reflective coatings work year-round. When it's finally recycled, aluminum regains full value without degradation—unlike asphalt that becomes unusable waste.
