Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Napavine Heights, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Napavine Heights
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Napavine Heights, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Napavine Heights.
Will a metal roof hold up to freeze-thaw cycles in Napavine Heights winters?
Yes—aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking or degrading. Napavine Heights experiences about 45 freeze-thaw days per year, but aluminum's crystal structure simply doesn't become brittle or fracture the way asphalt or wood does. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) is specifically formulated for temperature cycling, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating remains flexible across the temperature swings your region sees. This is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations—extreme temperature changes are exactly what aluminum handles best.
How does a metal roof perform under Napavine Heights snow load?
Metal roofs shed snow efficiently and won't accumulate dangerous ice dams like asphalt shingles do. Napavine Heights averages about 42 cm of snow annually, but even heavy wet snow slides off metal's smooth, interlocking surface. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together so tightly that snow and ice cannot penetrate seams or create the standing water that causes leaks in traditional roofs. You can add snow guards if you want to control slide patterns for safety—many homeowners in snowy regions do—but the roof itself will not rot, crack, or develop ice dam damage even during your region's frequent freeze-thaw cycles and moderate snow years.
Why should I choose aluminum over steel roofing in a wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that rusts is simply absent from the material. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopically thin, transparent oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath and self-heals if the coating scratches. Steel roofs, by contrast, will rust in Napavine Heights's damp Pacific Northwest climate with 1348 mm of annual rainfall. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides of every panel) adds a 30-year warranted barrier against any corrosion whatsoever. After 30 years, the bare aluminum itself remains non-corrosive—it simply continues protecting itself. This is why Interlock has installed roofs in harsh coastal salt-air environments for over 25 years without rust reports.
Does a metal roof handle heavy rain without leaking?
Yes—the four-way interlocking panel design and a properly installed solid deck or underlayment eliminate the paths rainwater exploits in shingled roofs. Napavine Heights receives approximately 1348 mm of rain annually, and metal roofs shed this volume quickly without pooling or backing up into seams. The four-way interlock means water cannot travel sideways between panels; it flows down the profile to the gutter. Unlike asphalt shingles, which absorb water and develop slow leaks after granule loss, metal panels are solid and non-porous. Installation over a solid deck or existing roof (which ICC-ES ESR-1790 permits) ensures any water that somehow reaches the substrate drains away completely rather than sitting and rotting wood.
Are metal roof panels strong enough for Napavine Heights wind gusts?
Absolutely. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph even in your region where typical wind gusts reach 102 km/h (about 63 mph). The Guardian warranty covers performance at twice your region's peak gust speed, giving you a massive safety margin. The mechanical interlock—not adhesive or nails alone—transfers wind load across the entire panel network rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners. Napavine Heights sits in a relatively sheltered part of Lewis County, but the design margin means your roof will remain secure in any weather your location typically receives, plus extreme events well beyond normal.
What happens if hail damages my metal roof?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest hail classification available—and The Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. In Napavine Heights, hail is not a frequent threat, but the Class 4 rating means your roof is engineered to survive the impact events that disable asphalt shingles or traditional tile. Many insurance companies offer discounts on roofs with Class 4 ratings because the claims risk is so low. The aluminum's hardness and the panel's engineering absorb impact energy without denting, cracking, or losing granules. This durability translates to lower insurance premiums for some homeowners—contact your insurer about potential savings.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?
Metal roofs require almost no maintenance compared to asphalt or wood. Asphalt shingles need granule replacement and crack sealing; wood shakes rot and split; concrete tile cracks in freeze-thaw cycles. Interlock aluminum panels shed dirt and debris automatically with rain—Napavine Heights gets 1348 mm annually, which keeps the roof naturally clean. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, and it's warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured). Periodic gutter cleaning is all you'll do. You won't climb the roof to replace shingles, seal cracks, or remove moss. This translates to 25-50 years of your time and money freed up—a real financial advantage over the roof's life.
Do I need to reinforce my home's frame for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and even the heaviest Shake profile weighs only 0.58 lb/sq ft. You can install metal roofing directly over most existing roofs without any frame work because aluminum is so light that old roof decks handle it with ease. By contrast, real tile or slate would require expensive structural upgrades. This means no contractor visits to inspect load-bearing capacity, no costly reinforcement, and installation that's faster and cheaper. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) explicitly permits installation over existing roofs in most cases, saving you thousands in preparation work.
Is a metal roof worth the higher upfront cost?
Metal roofing costs more upfront than asphalt but becomes the last roof you'll buy, delivering exceptional long-term value. Asphalt shingles last 15-20 years; a metal roof lasts 50+ years under The Guardian's lifetime limited warranty (transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion). Napavine Heights's 1348 mm annual rainfall and 45 freeze-thaw days accelerate asphalt degradation, so you might replace shingles twice in the span one metal roof survives. Factor maintenance costs (moss removal, shingle replacement, sealing), energy savings from reflective energy-efficiency coatings (up to 0.55 initial solar reflectance), and elimination of tear-off landfill fees, and the math favors metal. Current financing offers—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—reduce your initial investment, making now an ideal time to evaluate.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Napavine Heights?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the Lewis County region since 1997 and is the authorized local installer for Interlock systems. They understand Napavine Heights's climate—wet winters, moderate snow, frequent freeze-thaw cycles—and know how to flash, seal, and install panels to handle 1348 mm of annual rainfall and gusts approaching 102 km/h. Choosing a local, experienced installer matters because poor installation voids warranty coverage; Interlock (PNW) Inc.'s 27-year track record in the region means your roof is backed by craftsmanship, not just product specs. They can answer site-specific questions, inspect your existing roof, and walk you through current financing options (no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation).
