Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Toledo, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Toledo
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Toledo, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Toledo.
Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice in Toledo winters?
Yes — aluminum's four-way interlocking panels shed snow and ice safely without the weight burden of slate or concrete tile. Toledo averages about 42 cm of snow annually across roughly 45 freeze-thaw days, which cycles moisture into and out of porous materials; aluminum's oxide layer remains inert through that cycle. Because Interlock panels weigh as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft (compared to tile at about 96% lighter than traditional options), your existing roof framing handles the load without structural upgrades. Snow guards can be added to match your roof profile if desired.
Will freeze-thaw cycles in Toledo damage aluminum metal roofing?
No — aluminum is immune to the freeze-thaw damage that cracks asphalt, wood, and ceramic tile. Toledo experiences approximately 45 freeze-thaw days per year, a cycle that degrades porous materials by trapping water inside. Because aluminum contains no iron and cannot rust, and its protective Alunar PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) is applied to both panel sides, repeated freezing poses no threat. The metal expands and contracts predictably, and the interlocking design accommodates movement without separating or leaking.
Can aluminum metal roofing rust or corrode like steel roofing?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — rust is iron oxide, which only occurs in iron-bearing metals. When aluminum is exposed to air, it forms a microscopically thin oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath; if scratched, this layer self-heals within days. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish adds a durable topcoat (30-year warranty against chalking and fading per ASTM standards), creating a dual-protection system. This matters in Toledo's damp climate with frequent wind gusts up to 102 km/h, where corrosion-prone materials degrade faster.
How does metal roofing perform in Toledo's wind and storm gusts?
Interlock metal roofing panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, well above Toledo's typical gust peaks of 102 km/h. The four-way interlocking system prevents individual panels from lifting during pressure changes; each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof assembly. This redundancy means a single fastener failure does not compromise the roof's integrity, making interlocked aluminum inherently safer in gusts than overlapping shingle systems.
Does metal roofing help with hail damage and insurance costs in Toledo?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Toledo's 42 cm annual snowfall and 2,811 sunshine hours suggest hail is not a primary local hazard, the Class 4 rating provides maximum resilience if severe weather occurs. Many insurers offer premium discounts for metal roofs with Class 4 impact ratings, though you should contact your carrier directly about your policy.
Can my existing roof structure support metal roofing, or do I need reinforcement?
Most homes need no structural reinforcement. Interlock Shake installs at just 0.58 lb/sq ft and Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft — approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This extreme light weight means the system can be installed directly over most existing asphalt roofs without additional framing. Older or compromised decking should be assessed by the installer, but the exceptional lightness of aluminum is why homes built for traditional asphalt can support a metal roof upgrade without costly structural work.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?
Aluminum requires minimal maintenance — no seasonal cleaning, no replacement of degraded shingles, and no repair of splits or curling like asphalt and wood experience. Asphalt deteriorates visibly within 15-20 years; wood shakes split and rot in Toledo's moist climate with 1,348 mm rain annually; ceramic tile cracks under freeze-thaw stress. The Guardian warranty covers cracking, curling, splitting, and rot — conditions that don't occur in aluminum. Occasional gutter cleaning and visual inspection are sufficient; the roof itself does not need intervention.
What architectural styles does Interlock metal roofing come in for Toledo homes?
Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile — all manufactured from roofing-grade aluminum since 1998. Each profile replicates the texture and shadow line of its traditional counterpart while delivering aluminum's durability and light weight. Slate suits contemporary and traditional homes alike; Cedar Shingle and Shake evoke Craftsman and cottage aesthetics; Mediterranean Tile complements Tuscan or Spanish Colonial designs; Standing Seam offers modern, clean lines. All profiles are available in multiple colors and accept the same lifetime limited warranty.
What warranty does Interlock metal roofing include, and how long will it last?
The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original homeowner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It is one-time transferable to the next owner for a 50-year term from completion. In practical terms, aluminum does not degrade the way asphalt or wood does — the material remains structurally sound for 50+ years. The warranty backs that reality; it reflects confidence in the product's actual lifespan, not a marketing claim.
Is metal roofing more environmentally responsible than asphalt shingles?
Yes — Interlock panels are approximately 95% recyclable aluminum, and at end of life the material retains value for recycling into new products indefinitely. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are torn off every 15-25 years and sent to landfills in the millions of tons annually; this cycle repeats multiple times over a home's lifetime. By choosing aluminum, you eliminate that tear-off-to-landfill pattern. The panels' exceptional durability (lasting 50+ years) also means fewer replacements and less manufacturing impact. Aluminum's recyclability and longevity make it measurably more sustainable over the full building lifecycle.
