Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Napavine

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Napavine, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Napavine.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow in Napavine?

Yes. Napavine receives about 42 cm of snow annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed snow and resist ice dam formation. The panels' smooth surface and light weight—the Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—mean snow doesn't accumulate as it does on asphalt. Snow guards are available if needed. The aluminum's superior thermal conductivity prevents heat loss that traps ice at the eaves, a common problem in the region's 45 freeze-thaw days per year.

Will metal roofing crack or warp in Napavine's freeze-thaw winters?

No. Roofing-grade aluminum alloy (ASTM B209, 3105-H24 / 3003-H24) does not absorb moisture, so it cannot expand, contract, crack, or warp through freeze-thaw cycling—Napavine experiences about 45 freeze-thaw days annually. The aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, and the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (both sides) is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Asphalt and wood shingles absorb moisture and fail under these conditions; metal does not.

Why don't aluminum metal roofs rust like steel in wet climates?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. In Napavine's wet climate—averaging 1348 mm of annual rainfall—this matters enormously. When aluminum oxidizes, the oxide layer self-heals and stops further corrosion. Steel roofs require ongoing maintenance to prevent rust; Interlock panels ship with the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, offering extra protection in moisture-rich environments. Your roof will never need repainting or rust treatment, and resale value stays intact because the material is inherently durable, not just cosmetically treated.

How does a metal roof handle Napavine's 1348 mm of annual rainfall?

The four-way interlocking panels create a sealed plane that sheds water immediately. Unlike asphalt shingles, which absorb moisture and develop leaks after 15–20 years, interlocking aluminum panels remain watertight because water runs off, not into the material. Napavine's typical daily-max winds reach 14 km/h with gusts to 102 km/h—the panel overlap withstands wind-driven rain. Installation over solid decking with underlayment ensures no water penetrates beneath the roof, and the design eliminates pooling in valleys or seams where leaks originate.

Can a metal roof handle Napavine's wind gusts without blowing off?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking system is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to spec—well above Napavine's recorded gusts of 102 km/h. The overlapping panel edges lock mechanically; wind pressure actually tightens the seals rather than lifting the roof. UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, covers hailstones and wind-driven debris. Most asphalt shingles are rated for 60–70 mph; in a region prone to coastal wind events, metal's wind warranty is a concrete advantage for insurance and long-term safety.

Does hail damage metal roofing, and will insurance cover it?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers offer discounts for Class 4 roofing because claims are rare. Napavine's climate includes occasional hail events; a metal roof's non-combustible aluminum and proven impact resistance often qualify for lower premiums than asphalt. Document the UL 2218 rating and ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance when filing your policy—these certifications are recognized by underwriters nationwide.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes, when you consider the complete cost of ownership. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years; you'll replace your roof two or three times over a 50-year horizon, each time paying labor, tear-off, and disposal fees. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty is non-prorated for the original owner and one-time transferable for 50 years, eliminating the replacement cycle. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. Over the life of your home, one permanent roof costs far less than multiple asphalt replacements.

What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's one-time transferable, giving the next owner protection through 50 years from completion. This differs sharply from asphalt warranties, which are prorated (you pay more the longer you own the roof) and non-transferable. Manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, and installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station, the aluminum and Alunar 70% PVDF coating have proven durability in extreme climates.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for metal roofing?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, the heaviest offered, weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Your existing roof structure can support this weight; in fact, the light load reduces strain on joists and framing. Installation over most existing roofs is possible because the aluminum doesn't require new structural work. Compare this to traditional tile or slate, which demand expensive reinforcement. The lighter weight also lowers shipping costs and simplifies installation timelines in Napavine.

Is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock's aluminum panels are approximately 95% recyclable and never end up in landfills. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, generate millions of tons of waste annually because they're difficult to recycle and are disposed of after 15–20 years. Aluminum's lifecycle carbon footprint shrinks further when you account for manufacturing once rather than three times over 50 years. The panels are CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning no chemical treatments, sealants, or protective coatings needed mid-life. Choosing Interlock breaks the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle and aligns your roof with sustainable building practices.
