Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Waldo Point, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Waldo Point
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Waldo Point, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Waldo Point.
How does a metal roof handle Waldo Point's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum panels shed snow efficiently because they're smooth and slippery, reducing ice-dam risk during the area's about 120 cm of annual snow and 81 freeze-thaw days. The four-way interlocking system (ESR-1790 code-compliant) prevents water penetration even when snow melts and refreezes. Unlike asphalt shingles, which absorb moisture and degrade faster in freeze-thaw climates, aluminum's oxide layer is inert—it doesn't crack, curl, or absorb water. With proper snow guards installed, the lightweight design (0.41 lb/sq ft for Slate) handles the weight easily without structural upgrade.
Does a metal roof leak in heavy rain like Waldo Point gets?
No. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels create a dry seal that handles Waldo Point's roughly 1000 mm of annual rainfall without leaking. Each panel overlaps its neighbors in four directions, funneling water down and off the roof. When installed over a solid deck with underlayment—standard for ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance—the system performs identically to asphalt in a rainstorm. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both panel sides adds durability in wet climates. Flashing at penetrations and valleys is sealed with industry-standard methods, not roofing cement that degrades.
Will a metal roof stay put during Waldo Point's winter wind gusts?
Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, exceeding Waldo Point's documented gusts of 129 km/h (about 80 mph). The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors horizontally and vertically, distributing wind loads across the entire roof plane rather than letting individual shingles lift. Fasteners are hidden by the overlapping design, meaning no exposed nails for wind to catch. The warranty covers wind resistance when installed to specification, giving homeowners proof of protection in this region's storm season.
Why won't my aluminum roof rust like a steel roof might?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rusting is an iron-only process. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a self-healing oxide layer the moment it's exposed to air. Even if scratched, this oxide regenerates within hours, making the material immune to corrosion in Waldo Point's rainy (1003 mm annually) and occasionally salty environments. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish adds a second protective barrier, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Steel roofs, by contrast, rust in any moist climate and require maintenance to prevent failure. Aluminum's corrosion resistance eliminates this concern entirely.
Is aluminum durable enough for Waldo Point's 81 annual freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes. Aluminum has a coefficient of thermal expansion that responds predictably to freeze-thaw stress. Roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum (ASTM B209) used in Interlock panels expands and contracts slightly with temperature swings, but does not crack, split, or curl—common failures in asphalt and wood shingles during repeated freeze-thaw. The four-way interlocking design accommodates micro-movement without creating stress points. The Guardian warranty covers splitting and cracking for the lifetime of the original owner, with a 50-year transferable term, because aluminum's engineering handles this cycle. Waldo Point's 8.8°C mean temperature and significant snow/rain pattern pose no material risk.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Even the heavier Shake (0.58 lb/sq ft) and Mediterranean Tile (0.59 lb/sq ft) profiles weigh far less than traditional materials. Most homes can install Interlock panels directly over existing asphalt shingles without adding framing or posts. This saves thousands in structural work and means faster installation. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 report confirms the lightweight design complies with building codes across load conditions. For Waldo Point homeowners, it's one of the few premium roof upgrades that doesn't trigger costly structural upgrades.
What happens if hail hits my metal roof?
Interlock panels earn UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest hail classification available. The warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, which is rare in Waldo Point. The material's aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) absorbs impact energy without denting permanently or cracking. Many homeowners with metal roofs in hail-prone regions receive insurance discounts because the material demonstrates low damage risk. Contact your insurer—some carriers reduce premiums for Class 4-rated roofs. For Waldo Point's climate (heavy snow and rain, not hail), the Class 4 rating provides extra protection beyond typical needs.
Is a metal roof worth the cost compared to replacing asphalt shingles every 15-20 years?
Yes, over the roof's life. An asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years in Waldo Point's wet (1003 mm rain, 120 cm snow) and freeze-thaw climate (81 days annually). Metal costs more upfront but requires no replacement for the original owner's lifetime (and remains covered for 50 years if transferred). You avoid three or four asphalt tear-offs, landfill disposal, and labor costs. The Alunar coating requires no resealing or chemical treatments—maintenance is essentially cleanup. Current financing: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, which shortens payback. The Guardian warranty—lifetime limited, non-prorated—protects your investment completely.
Can I get the look of slate, cedar shake, or tile in metal?
Yes. Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates traditional materials' dimensional appearance—Slate mimics flat roofing stone, Cedar Shingle and Shake capture wood texture with shadow lines, Tile matches curved clay or concrete profiles, and Standing Seam provides modern clean lines. All are manufactured from roofing-grade aluminum (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) in the same four-way interlocking system, so material performance is identical. Your choice is purely aesthetic. Most profiles come in multiple colors with Alunar 70% PVDF finish (30-year warranty against fading). Waldo Point's roughly 3094 annual sunshine hours brings out the finish's depth and luster.
