Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Forest Ridge, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
To whom it may concern: We recently needed our old asphalt shingle roof replaced as it was damaged and leaking from recent storm damage. Reviewing our options, we decided on metal since we live on the beach. After looking at the different metal roofs available and looking at online reviews we decided on Interlock. We were not disappointed. The process was quick and the timeline discussed initially at purchase was met. The company kept us informed during the entire process. Our roof had an additional issue not seen with most roof replacements, it was covered with solar panels. Interlock coordinated the removal and then the reinstallation with our solar installer. The panels needed removing and then the mounting brackets needed to be reinstalled so as to keep the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty in force; all went well. I was out of town while some of the roofing was being done, when I returned the roof was completed and all that was needed was the final inspection. I was surprised by the look of the final product, while I had seen pictures the actual product looked much better. The roof looks like “slate” tile, it does not look “metal. We had comments on the roof by neighbors during and after installation and people at work have asked for more information. I highly recommend Interlock Metal Roof to anyone needing a new roof.
Vlad and John are great – caring, kind, courteous, polite – they truly care about the job they do. Give them a raise.
Workmanship exceeded our expectations. They had to do a lot of extra unanticipated work and stayed late into the night to complete it. The crew was great!
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
My wife and I want to express our complete satisfaction with the "Aged " title="Copper Roofing" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="2680">Copper" roof your firm installed on our "Barn-house" and gazebo. The two roofs have a high quality appearance and they enhance the looks of the property. We are looking forward to many years of satisfaction. We are now planning to re-paint the house with a color to better blend with the roof. The work performed by your installers was outstanding. They were friendly and very professional. They worked efficiently and energetically, and it was obvious they had the skills to do the job. Thank you for being such an excellent firm.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Forest Ridge
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Forest Ridge, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Forest Ridge.
How does a metal roof handle snow and ice in Forest Ridge's winters?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface doesn't grip moisture the way granules do. Forest Ridge averages about 35 cm of snow per year with roughly 34 freeze-thaw cycles annually—conditions that accelerate ice dam formation on traditional roofs. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels stay structurally sound under snow load and won't crack or curl as the temperature swings between freezing and thaw. For added insurance, snow guards can be installed to manage shedding safely.
Why don't aluminum metal roofs rust like steel ones?
Aluminum simply cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and causes rust stains and deterioration. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a thin, invisible oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath. If that layer gets scratched, it self-heals automatically. Interlock's 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy is then coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides, extending protection to a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. In a damp maritime climate like Kitsap County, this dual-layer defense means your roof won't weaken or stain over decades.
Can a metal roof stand up to Forest Ridge's wind and gusts?
Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, which far exceeds the typical gusts of about 117 km/h recorded in the region. The interlocking design locks panels together mechanically, so wind doesn't peel corners or gaps like it can with traditional shingles. The system is backed by a warranty that covers wind resistance when installed to specification. If severe wind events do occur in Kitsap County, the roof's proven track record and structural integrity give you confidence that your home is protected.
Does a metal roof get damaged by hail, and will insurance cover it?
Interlock metal roofing earns UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available—and it's actually warranted against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. The aluminum's hardness and the panel geometry dissipate impact energy instead of cracking like asphalt or slate. Many homeowners find that this durability qualifies them for insurance discounts because the roof eliminates a major damage risk. When you combine the class 4 rating with Forest Ridge's typical weather patterns, you get a roof that won't need replacement after a single severe storm.
Does installing a metal tile roof require structural work to my house?
No structural reinforcement is needed because aluminum is extraordinarily light. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This weight advantage means the roof can be installed directly over most existing asphalt shingle roofs without engineering upgrades or extra framing. For a Kitsap County home with an older wood structure, avoiding expensive beam reinforcement is a major practical benefit. Interlock's ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790) confirms the panels meet building code requirements without additional support.
How long does a metal roof installation take, and can you install over my old roof?
Installation timelines depend on roof size and complexity, but because metal panels are lightweight and install quickly, most residential projects are completed faster than traditional reroofing. Yes, Interlock panels install directly over existing asphalt roofs in most cases—you don't have to tear off and haul away the old shingles, which saves time and labor costs. The local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has served the region since 1997 and can assess your specific roof during a consultation. Skipping the tear-off also means less disruption to your home during the roughly 3005 annual sunshine hours you have for scheduling.
What maintenance does an aluminum metal roof actually need?
Very little. Unlike asphalt shingles that require periodic replacing, cedar shake that splits and rots, or tile that cracks, aluminum doesn't degrade from weather exposure. With about 1196 mm of rain and 35 cm of snow annually in Forest Ridge, traditional roofs work constantly against moisture—but aluminum's oxide layer and Alunar PVDF coating resist both. A rinse with a garden hose every few years removes debris and keeps the roof looking fresh. The Guardian warranty covers maintenance-free performance for the original owner's lifetime, so you're protected against unexpected repair bills.
Can a metal roof actually reduce cooling costs in the Pacific Northwest?
Yes, when you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock's rated products reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt, with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 on colors like Aged Copper Penny. In Forest Ridge, where you get about 3005 hours of sunshine annually, that reflectivity compounds through warm months. Even in cooler Pacific Northwest climates, reducing heat absorption keeps your attic cooler, which lowers cooling costs and extends HVAC equipment life. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification backs the thermal performance with third-party testing.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?
The math favors metal when you look past the initial sticker price. Asphalt shingles need replacement every 15–20 years, while Interlock's lifetime limited warranty for the original owner means no replacement during your ownership. Over 40–50 years, you avoid two or three full tear-offs, labor, and disposal costs—expenses that quickly total tens of thousands of dollars. Metal's durability also protects your home's interior: fewer leak risks, no rot, no mold repair. The current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, making the transition to your last roof more affordable upfront.
What happens to my metal roof warranty if I sell my house?
The Guardian warranty is one-time transferable: the original owner gets a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty (covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance), and the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from the completion date. This transfer feature adds real resale value because a future buyer inherits decades of protection. For Forest Ridge homeowners concerned about 34 annual freeze-thaw cycles and decades of rain exposure, knowing the roof is protected for half a century—even under new ownership—is a substantial asset. No other roofing type offers this kind of transferable security.
