Review: August 1, 2017

To whom it may concern: We recently needed our old asphalt shingle roof replaced as it was damaged and leaking from recent storm damage. Reviewing our options, we decided on metal since we live on the beach. After looking at the different metal roofs available and looking at online reviews we decided on Interlock. We were not disappointed. The process was quick and the timeline discussed initially at purchase was met. The company kept us informed during the entire process. Our roof had an additional issue not seen with most roof replacements, it was covered with solar panels. Interlock coordinated the removal and then the reinstallation with our solar installer. The panels needed removing and then the mounting brackets needed to be reinstalled so as to keep the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty in force; all went well. I was out of town while some of the roofing was being done, when I returned the roof was completed and all that was needed was the final inspection. I was surprised by the look of the final product, while I had seen pictures the actual product looked much better. The roof looks like “slate” tile, it does not look “metal. We had comments on the roof by neighbors during and after installation and people at work have asked for more information. I highly recommend Interlock Metal Roof to anyone needing a new roof.

Workmanship exceeded our expectations. They had to do a lot of extra unanticipated work and stayed late into the night to complete it. The crew was great!

We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!

My wife and I want to express our complete satisfaction with the "Aged " title="Copper Roofing" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="2680">Copper" roof your firm installed on our "Barn-house" and gazebo. The two roofs have a high quality appearance and they enhance the looks of the property. We are looking forward to many years of satisfaction. We are now planning to re-paint the house with a color to better blend with the roof. The work performed by your installers was outstanding. They were friendly and very professional. They worked efficiently and energetically, and it was obvious they had the skills to do the job. Thank you for being such an excellent firm.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lofall

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lofall, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lofall.

Will a metal roof handle Lofall's snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes — metal roofing handles snow exceptionally well because aluminum panels shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt. Lofall receives about 37 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 31 freeze-thaw days per year, both conditions that can trap moisture under traditional shingles and cause rot. Aluminum cannot rust or absorb water, and its smooth, interlocking four-way panel design sheds meltwater cleanly. Snow guards can be added if desired. The lightweight design (Shake profile at ~0.58 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is required despite snow load.

How does metal roofing perform in Lofall's heavy rainfall?

Metal roofing excels in wet climates like Lofall's, which receives about 1,148 mm of rain annually. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels create multiple overlapping seams that direct water downward and outward rather than allowing it to pool. When installed to specification per ICC-ES ESR-1790, these joints perform identically to asphalt in heavy rain because water cannot work sideways through the locked seams. The solid deck and quality underlayment also absorb impact noise, so you won't hear rain despite the metal material.

Why won't aluminum roofing rust in a coastal Kitsap County climate?

Aluminum roofing cannot rust because the material contains no iron — rust requires iron to form. Instead, aluminum develops a thin oxide layer that actually self-heals when the surface is scratched, a property that makes it ideal for Kitsap County's marine-influenced environment. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel and carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, offering extra protection in salt-air conditions. This dual-sided coating is a critical advantage over steel roofing, which requires constant vigilance in coastal climates.

Can metal roofing withstand Lofall's wind gusts?

Yes — Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Lofall's typical gusts reach about 112 km/h, well within the roof's rated capacity. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together mechanically, distributing wind load across the entire panel network rather than stressing individual fasteners. This engineered interlock design, combined with proper installation per ESR-1790, means the roof actually becomes more secure as wind load increases — the panels pull tighter against one another.

Does metal roofing help with hail damage or insurance?

Interlock metal roofing carries the highest hail impact rating available — UL 2218 Class 4 — and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Lofall's climate typically features rain and freeze-thaw cycles rather than frequent hail, the Class 4 impact resistance is a quantified advantage over asphalt shingles. Some insurers recognize this superior durability and offer discounts; we recommend checking with your provider about potential premium reductions. The non-combustible aluminum also qualifies for Class A fire rating, a secondary factor some carriers reward.

Does metal roofing reduce cooling costs in a cooler climate like Lofall?

Even in Lofall's mild climate (mean annual temperature 10.5°C with about 2,898 sunshine hours), reflective coatings reduce heat gain during warmer months and lower cooling costs year-round. Select Interlock colors carry energy-efficiency certification with solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84 — meaning they reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs and radiates into the home. Over a 50-year lifespan, this efficiency compounds: you're reducing your HVAC workload every sunny day, even in the Pacific Northwest. Cool Roof Rating Council verification backs these performance claims.

What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?

Interlock offers the Guardian Warranty — a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. This means there are no deductibles or stepped coverage; if a covered issue arises, it's repaired or replaced at no cost to you. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding significant resale value. Combined with aluminum's inability to rust and the 30-year coating protection, this warranty structure reflects the roof's true longevity in climates like Lofall's with 31 annual freeze-thaw cycles.

Can I install metal tile roofing without reinforcing my home's frame?

Yes — Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This extraordinary light weight means most homes can support the new roof without structural reinforcement, even over existing shingles. The four-way interlocking panel system distributes weight evenly across the roof deck, and your installer can confirm existing framing capacity during assessment. This advantage directly addresses Lofall's older housing stock, where reinforcement costs would otherwise be prohibitive. Detailed installation specs follow ICC-ES ESR-1790.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually require?

Metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. Aluminum does not absorb moisture, so it cannot rot, split, or curl — conditions that plague organic materials in Lofall's 1,148 mm annual rainfall and 31 freeze-thaw days. No algae or moss growth occurs on smooth aluminum. Periodic visual inspection and gutter cleaning (standard for any roof) are sufficient. The self-healing oxide layer on aluminum and the 30-year Alunar coating warranty mean the roof actually becomes more durable over time. CALGreen verification documents reduced maintenance burden versus traditional materials.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost over asphalt shingles?

Yes, because you're purchasing your last roof. Asphalt shingles typically last 15–20 years in climates with Lofall's freeze-thaw cycles and moisture; metal roofing lasts 50+ years with a transferable lifetime warranty. Over 50 years, replacing asphalt three times adds material, labor, and landfill costs totaling far more than a single metal installation. Current financing options include no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, reducing the initial gap significantly. The roof's 50-year transfer term to the next owner also enhances home value at resale, recouping a portion of the upfront investment immediately.
