Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Silverdale South, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |

What our customers are saying:
Vlad and John are great – caring, kind, courteous, polite – they truly care about the job they do. Give them a raise.
Workmanship exceeded our expectations. They had to do a lot of extra unanticipated work and stayed late into the night to complete it. The crew was great!
We had the Interlock Roof installed in November of 2015 since then we have had some torrential rains and winds exceeding 50 mph. The roof has weathered the storms and is just as sound as the day the workers completed the installation. We are extremely pleased with the roof and the appearance of the roof. We are also very pleased that we chose the Interlock roof, both for the appearance and the wear ability of the product. It is a huge relief for us to know that this is the final roof we will ever have to put on our house and that the product is backed by a lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty. Your roofing specialists that installed the roof were very professional, considerate, and thorough in their work. The property was cleaned and checked when the installation was complete. They promptly addressed any concerns we had and insured we were totally satisfied prior to completing the project. The entire crew deserves a hearty well done.
To Whom It May Concern: We bought our house in 2001. At that time we knew we had about 5-7 years of life left on our composition roof. In October of 2009, my husband and I attended the Home Show held at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds and we submitted our name at the Interlock booth to get more information about metal roofs, as we had been thinking about moving in that direction to replace the roof. About two weeks later, we met Ross Peterson. He spent about two hours educating us on roofs and all the different types of roofing materials available, how a large percentage of landfill waste is comprised of discarded roofing materials, and the range of expenses associated with the different kinds of roofs available to homeowners. He was polite, patient, and very knowledgeable. We went into the meeting hoping that the cost of a metal roof would somehow match up with the amount of money we felt we had available to put a new roof on our house. Overall, we determined that the work being done and the length of time we could expect the roof to last would far outweigh the expense in the long run. Especially since a metal roof can last 50 years, but you can expect to put a composition roof on several times in that time-frame. Our materials were delivered in early December and a few days later we met the work crew. They were friendly, considerate, and seemed well trained to complete the job. Unfortunately, we started having extreme weather conditions, like deep freezes one week and heavy rains the following week. Both of those situations caused the job to be delayed, both due to the safety of the crew and to keep the roof conditions as ideal as possible. We are now almost 3 months post install and are quite happy with the end result. We are pleased with our color choice and plan to paint our house this summer with a coordinating color to complement the roof. Thank you Interlock!
“No Worries”, may be an “in” thing to say now days, but for us it is a reality for the next 50 years! This summer, we didn’t worry about the bottle rockets landing on our roof. This fall, we won’t worry about the shingles blowing off in the next 60 plus mile an hour wind. This winter we won’t worry about the snow. And in the spring, we won’t worry about the moss growing on on our roof. If you are thinking you want a roof like ours, no worries about the salesman pressuring into something you don’t want. They were very professional and nice. Everything they promised was delivered exactly as they promised. You will also have no worries when it comes to the installation, as they too were very professional and left the yard just as they had found it. No worries also when it comes to our carbon footprint, as our existing roof is still on our roof and not in a landfill and when the day comes to replace this roof it is recyclable. They really should rename the Interlock Roofing to No Worries Roofing. “No Worries” in Bremerton
We are DELIGHTED with our new roof! The day after it was completed, we had a windstorm. It was so wonderful to wake up knowing there would be no shingles in the yard or loose shingles on the roof. And it is BEAUTIFUL! We see lots of people stopping to gaze at it. Our home truly looks like a cottage now. We cannot thank you enough for the superb product and the exceptional installers. Thanks again.
To whom it may concern: We recently needed our old asphalt shingle roof replaced as it was damaged and leaking from recent storm damage. Reviewing our options, we decided on metal since we live on the beach. After looking at the different metal roofs available and looking at online reviews we decided on Interlock. We were not disappointed. The process was quick and the timeline discussed initially at purchase was met. The company kept us informed during the entire process. Our roof had an additional issue not seen with most roof replacements, it was covered with solar panels. Interlock coordinated the removal and then the reinstallation with our solar installer. The panels needed removing and then the mounting brackets needed to be reinstalled so as to keep the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty in force; all went well. I was out of town while some of the roofing was being done, when I returned the roof was completed and all that was needed was the final inspection. I was surprised by the look of the final product, while I had seen pictures the actual product looked much better. The roof looks like “slate” tile, it does not look “metal. We had comments on the roof by neighbors during and after installation and people at work have asked for more information. I highly recommend Interlock Metal Roof to anyone needing a new roof.
I have had this roof for almost 7 years, and I am still extremely happy!
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
My wife and I want to express our complete satisfaction with the "Aged " title="Copper Roofing" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="2680">Copper" roof your firm installed on our "Barn-house" and gazebo. The two roofs have a high quality appearance and they enhance the looks of the property. We are looking forward to many years of satisfaction. We are now planning to re-paint the house with a color to better blend with the roof. The work performed by your installers was outstanding. They were friendly and very professional. They worked efficiently and energetically, and it was obvious they had the skills to do the job. Thank you for being such an excellent firm.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Silverdale South
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Silverdale South, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Silverdale South.
How does a metal roof handle Silverdale South's snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, which traps moisture and accelerates freeze-thaw damage. Silverdale South averages about 33 cm of snow annually and roughly 21 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that cause traditional shingles to curl and crack. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels remain structurally sound through these cycles because aluminum expands uniformly and its oxide layer never deteriorates. The tight panel locks prevent water infiltration between freeze cycles, eliminating the ice dam weakness that plagues porous materials.
Will a metal roof rust in Silverdale South's wet climate?
No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Silverdale South receives about 1280 mm of rain annually, yet aluminum develops a thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath. If scratched or damaged, this oxide reforms automatically, unlike steel roofing which requires constant vigilance. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking. This dual-sided coating is especially critical in high-moisture environments, ensuring long-term corrosion immunity.
Can an aluminum roof withstand Silverdale South's wind gusts?
Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph even though Silverdale South experiences typical gusts around 101 km/h (63 mph). The four-way lock system distributes wind load across adjacent panels rather than allowing individual shingles to lift. This engineering margin means your roof will outperform the worst conditions your region typically encounters. The panels lock both horizontally and vertically, creating a continuous structural skin that performs far better than overlapped asphalt shingles during gusty winters.
Can my home's framing handle a metal roof without expensive reinforcement?
Yes—no structural reinforcement is needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates clay or concrete tile aesthetics, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than the materials it mimics. This matters in Silverdale South because older homes built for heavy slate or traditional tile can accept metal panels without costly frame upgrades. Even the heaviest Interlock profile weighs under 1 lb/sq ft. You can install over most existing roofs, saving tear-off labor and eliminating landfill waste while gaining a roof that won't sag or require additional support posts.
Does a metal roof really stay leak-free in constant rain?
Heavy rainfall won't penetrate Interlock panels because the four-way interlocking design creates overlapping joints that channel water downward and outward. Silverdale South receives approximately 1280 mm of rain yearly, yet the panel-to-panel locks are engineered so water cannot be driven upward or sideways under pressure. Each profile—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, and Standing Seam—uses the same proven interlock mechanism verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 testing (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC compliance). When installed to specification with appropriate underlayment and flashing, the system performs in any rainstorm the Pacific Northwest delivers.
Will a metal roof lower cooling costs in Silverdale South?
Yes, energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt. Silverdale South receives about 2931 sunshine hours annually—enough for reflective coatings to make a measurable difference. Select colors achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, Cool Roof Rating Council verified, meaning less heat transfers into your attic. While Silverdale South's winters are cool (mean 11.3°C annually), summer cooling costs decrease, and more importantly, reflective metal roofing reduces peak indoor temperatures during the 30–40 days yearly when the region experiences significant sun exposure.
Does hail damage a metal roof, and can it lower insurance premiums?
Hail resistance is aluminum's major advantage. Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Silverdale South's freeze-thaw weather (21 days yearly) can trigger hail events. This Class 4 rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium reductions or discounts because insurers recognize the metal roof's superior resistance to impact damage. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification; many carriers reduce premiums by 10–20% for proven impact-resistant roofs, offsetting installation costs over the roof's lifetime.
How long does a metal roof last, and what does the warranty cover?
Interlock offers The Guardian Warranty—a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. Transfer to the next owner extends coverage 50 years from completion, a major resale advantage. The Alunar coating is separately warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured). Aluminum's inherent durability—installed since 1998 from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations—means your roof will outlast multiple asphalt cycles. This is the last roof you'll buy for your home.
How does a metal roof's lifetime cost compare to replacing asphalt every 15–20 years?
Metal roofing costs more upfront but eliminates the asphalt replacement cycle. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years; Silverdale South's 1280 mm annual rainfall, 33 cm snow, and 21 freeze-thaw days all accelerate asphalt degradation, often shortening lifespan. Over 50 years, you'll replace asphalt 2–3 times, each time bearing tear-off labor, landfill fees, and installation costs. Interlock's one-time installation, minimal maintenance, and transferable 50-year coverage deliver lower lifetime cost per year of protection. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. Calculate the total cost of three asphalt roofs versus one metal roof.
Is a metal roof fire-safe in a wildfire-prone region?
Yes—Interlock aluminum is non-combustible and available in Class A fire rating, the highest classification. Aluminum cannot ignite, spread flame, or produce heavy smoke like asphalt or wood shingles. This matters in the Pacific Northwest, where regional fire risk is increasing. The material's non-combustibility meets ICC-ES ESR-1790 (2025) and provides compliance with CALGreen building standards. If your home is in a wildfire risk zone, a Class A metal roof may qualify for insurance discounts and reduces fire insurance premiums. Beyond compliance, you gain genuine peace of mind: your roof will not contribute fuel to a wildfire threat.
