| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
Vlad and John are great – caring, kind, courteous, polite – they truly care about the job they do. Give them a raise.
Workmanship exceeded our expectations. They had to do a lot of extra unanticipated work and stayed late into the night to complete it. The crew was great!
We had the Interlock Roof installed in November of 2015 since then we have had some torrential rains and winds exceeding 50 mph. The roof has weathered the storms and is just as sound as the day the workers completed the installation. We are extremely pleased with the roof and the appearance of the roof. We are also very pleased that we chose the Interlock roof, both for the appearance and the wear ability of the product. It is a huge relief for us to know that this is the final roof we will ever have to put on our house and that the product is backed by a lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty. Your roofing specialists that installed the roof were very professional, considerate, and thorough in their work. The property was cleaned and checked when the installation was complete. They promptly addressed any concerns we had and insured we were totally satisfied prior to completing the project. The entire crew deserves a hearty well done.
To Whom It May Concern: We bought our house in 2001. At that time we knew we had about 5-7 years of life left on our composition roof. In October of 2009, my husband and I attended the Home Show held at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds and we submitted our name at the Interlock booth to get more information about metal roofs, as we had been thinking about moving in that direction to replace the roof. About two weeks later, we met Ross Peterson. He spent about two hours educating us on roofs and all the different types of roofing materials available, how a large percentage of landfill waste is comprised of discarded roofing materials, and the range of expenses associated with the different kinds of roofs available to homeowners. He was polite, patient, and very knowledgeable. We went into the meeting hoping that the cost of a metal roof would somehow match up with the amount of money we felt we had available to put a new roof on our house. Overall, we determined that the work being done and the length of time we could expect the roof to last would far outweigh the expense in the long run. Especially since a metal roof can last 50 years, but you can expect to put a composition roof on several times in that time-frame. Our materials were delivered in early December and a few days later we met the work crew. They were friendly, considerate, and seemed well trained to complete the job. Unfortunately, we started having extreme weather conditions, like deep freezes one week and heavy rains the following week. Both of those situations caused the job to be delayed, both due to the safety of the crew and to keep the roof conditions as ideal as possible. We are now almost 3 months post install and are quite happy with the end result. We are pleased with our color choice and plan to paint our house this summer with a coordinating color to complement the roof. Thank you Interlock!
“No Worries”, may be an “in” thing to say now days, but for us it is a reality for the next 50 years! This summer, we didn’t worry about the bottle rockets landing on our roof. This fall, we won’t worry about the shingles blowing off in the next 60 plus mile an hour wind. This winter we won’t worry about the snow. And in the spring, we won’t worry about the moss growing on on our roof. If you are thinking you want a roof like ours, no worries about the salesman pressuring into something you don’t want. They were very professional and nice. Everything they promised was delivered exactly as they promised. You will also have no worries when it comes to the installation, as they too were very professional and left the yard just as they had found it. No worries also when it comes to our carbon footprint, as our existing roof is still on our roof and not in a landfill and when the day comes to replace this roof it is recyclable. They really should rename the Interlock Roofing to No Worries Roofing. “No Worries” in Bremerton
We are DELIGHTED with our new roof! The day after it was completed, we had a windstorm. It was so wonderful to wake up knowing there would be no shingles in the yard or loose shingles on the roof. And it is BEAUTIFUL! We see lots of people stopping to gaze at it. Our home truly looks like a cottage now. We cannot thank you enough for the superb product and the exceptional installers. Thanks again.
To whom it may concern: We recently needed our old asphalt shingle roof replaced as it was damaged and leaking from recent storm damage. Reviewing our options, we decided on metal since we live on the beach. After looking at the different metal roofs available and looking at online reviews we decided on Interlock. We were not disappointed. The process was quick and the timeline discussed initially at purchase was met. The company kept us informed during the entire process. Our roof had an additional issue not seen with most roof replacements, it was covered with solar panels. Interlock coordinated the removal and then the reinstallation with our solar installer. The panels needed removing and then the mounting brackets needed to be reinstalled so as to keep the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty in force; all went well. I was out of town while some of the roofing was being done, when I returned the roof was completed and all that was needed was the final inspection. I was surprised by the look of the final product, while I had seen pictures the actual product looked much better. The roof looks like “slate” tile, it does not look “metal. We had comments on the roof by neighbors during and after installation and people at work have asked for more information. I highly recommend Interlock Metal Roof to anyone needing a new roof.
I have had this roof for almost 7 years, and I am still extremely happy!
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
My wife and I want to express our complete satisfaction with the "Aged " title="Copper Roofing" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="2680">Copper" roof your firm installed on our "Barn-house" and gazebo. The two roofs have a high quality appearance and they enhance the looks of the property. We are looking forward to many years of satisfaction. We are now planning to re-paint the house with a color to better blend with the roof. The work performed by your installers was outstanding. They were friendly and very professional. They worked efficiently and energetically, and it was obvious they had the skills to do the job. Thank you for being such an excellent firm.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Silverdale North
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Silverdale North, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Silverdale North.
How does a metal roof handle Silverdale's winter snow and ice?
Aluminum's smooth, interlocking surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, reducing ice dam formation during Silverdale's typical 21 freeze-thaw cycles per year. The four-way interlocking panels create a unified system that won't allow water infiltration when ice buildup does occur. With about 33 cm of annual snow, your roof won't accumulate the weight burden that triggers structural problems—the panels weigh just 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile, so no reinforcement is needed. Many homeowners here pair metal roofing with snow guards to control avalanching, protecting lower rooflines and walkways.
Will a metal roof leak in Silverdale's heavy rain?
Yes—the four-way interlocking panel system is specifically engineered for heavy rain. Silverdale receives about 1280 mm of annual rainfall, and these panels interlock so tightly that water is mechanically channeled away rather than relying on sealant alone. The overlapping design means rain pressure actually drives water downward and outward, not inward. When installed over a solid deck with proper underlayment, the system performs identically to asphalt in wet conditions—there is no leakage risk specific to metal roofing when installed to ICC-ES ESR-1790 code standards, which Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) follows for this region.
Are metal roofs secure in Kitsap County's wind gusts?
Silverdale North experiences typical gusts to 101 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The interlocking geometry—not fasteners alone—transfers wind load across the entire roof plane, so a single gust cannot lift or separate panels. This design earned ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 approval for wind resistance in the IBC/IRC building codes. Coastal Kitsap County winds are routine for this product; it has performed in Antarctic research stations and salt-air environments far more demanding than your roofline.
What's the hail rating for metal roofing, and can it help with insurance?
Interlock aluminum roofing carries the highest available impact rating: UL 2218 Class 4, which withstands hailstones up to 1.5 inches without perforation or performance loss. This non-combustible aluminum material is also eligible for homeowners insurance discounts in many Washington policies due to fire resistance and durability. The Guardian warranty even covers hail perforation explicitly. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification and Interlock's ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation; many carriers recognize metal roofing as a loss-prevention upgrade similar to impact-resistant shingles.
Why can't aluminum roofs rust like steel ones do?
Aluminum chemically cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron oxide formation, which is impossible in pure aluminum alloy. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum (ASTM B209), coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. The aluminum oxide layer that naturally forms on exposure is self-healing; if scratched, it reforms invisibly. In Silverdale's wet climate with about 1280 mm annual rain and coastal salt-air exposure from nearby Puget Sound, this corrosion immunity is a genuine structural advantage over steel, which requires ongoing paint maintenance.
Is a metal roof a good financial investment over asphalt?
Yes—while aluminum costs more upfront, Interlock's lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner, transferable for 50 years to the next owner) means you buy one roof, not three or four asphalt cycles over a 50-year holding period. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years in wet climates like Silverdale's, requiring tear-off and landfill disposal every cycle. Metal roofing ends that cycle, eliminates future labor and removal costs, and often qualifies for insurance discounts and resale value uplift. Currently, Interlock is offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—terms that spread cost over the warranty period.
Do metal roofs really reduce cooling costs in the Pacific Northwest?
In Silverdale, cooling costs are modest compared to southern climates, but energy-efficient Interlock colors still deliver measurable savings and comfort. The aluminum coating reflects heat at initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny profile) with thermal emissivity of 0.84, redirecting solar gain that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. With about 2931 annual sunshine hours and a mean temperature of 11.3°C, summer cooling demand is light, but radiant heat reflection reduces afternoon temperature spikes, particularly in upper stories. The secondary benefit is reduced HVAC wear and longer equipment life.
What's the fire rating on metal roofing?
Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible and available in Class A fire classification—the highest rating under UL and ASTM standards. Aluminum cannot ignite, does not propagate flame, and produces zero smoke or toxic gases during a fire, meeting or exceeding Class A requirements. This is relevant in Kitsap County where wildland-urban interface zones are increasingly common and fire-resistant materials may affect insurance premiums or future building code compliance. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report (reissued 2025) confirms fire performance across both IBC and IRC code frameworks for residential and commercial installations.
Can you install metal roofing over my existing asphalt roof in Silverdale?
Yes—Interlock's lightweight aluminum panels (0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile) can install directly over an existing asphalt roof in most cases, eliminating costly tear-off and debris disposal. This one-roof-over-one approach keeps your home weatherproof during installation and avoids the landfill cycle. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) has served this region since 1997 and assesses each Silverdale home individually for deck condition, structural capacity, and local code compliance (ICC-ES ESR-1790). The process typically takes 2–5 days depending on roof complexity, and you can arrange financing with no payments and no interest until Spring 2027.
How is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?
Aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, versus asphalt shingles which are almost entirely landfill-bound. Silverdale's wet climate means asphalt roofs may need replacement every 15–20 years, each requiring tear-off, disposal, and energy-intensive manufacturing of replacement materials. Interlock aluminum, warranted for the original owner's lifetime and transferable for 50 years, remains on your home for decades, eliminating the repeated extraction-manufacture-landfill cycle. When finally recycled, aluminum retains full value and is infinitely reusable without degradation. This linear lifecycle—one installation, one removal—is inherently more sustainable than the asphalt replacement treadmill.
