Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Olympic View, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |

What our customers are saying:
Vlad and John are great – caring, kind, courteous, polite – they truly care about the job they do. Give them a raise.
Workmanship exceeded our expectations. They had to do a lot of extra unanticipated work and stayed late into the night to complete it. The crew was great!
To whom it may concern: We recently needed our old asphalt shingle roof replaced as it was damaged and leaking from recent storm damage. Reviewing our options, we decided on metal since we live on the beach. After looking at the different metal roofs available and looking at online reviews we decided on Interlock. We were not disappointed. The process was quick and the timeline discussed initially at purchase was met. The company kept us informed during the entire process. Our roof had an additional issue not seen with most roof replacements, it was covered with solar panels. Interlock coordinated the removal and then the reinstallation with our solar installer. The panels needed removing and then the mounting brackets needed to be reinstalled so as to keep the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty in force; all went well. I was out of town while some of the roofing was being done, when I returned the roof was completed and all that was needed was the final inspection. I was surprised by the look of the final product, while I had seen pictures the actual product looked much better. The roof looks like “slate” tile, it does not look “metal. We had comments on the roof by neighbors during and after installation and people at work have asked for more information. I highly recommend Interlock Metal Roof to anyone needing a new roof.
We had the Interlock Roof installed in November of 2015 since then we have had some torrential rains and winds exceeding 50 mph. The roof has weathered the storms and is just as sound as the day the workers completed the installation. We are extremely pleased with the roof and the appearance of the roof. We are also very pleased that we chose the Interlock roof, both for the appearance and the wear ability of the product. It is a huge relief for us to know that this is the final roof we will ever have to put on our house and that the product is backed by a lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty. Your roofing specialists that installed the roof were very professional, considerate, and thorough in their work. The property was cleaned and checked when the installation was complete. They promptly addressed any concerns we had and insured we were totally satisfied prior to completing the project. The entire crew deserves a hearty well done.
To Whom It May Concern: We bought our house in 2001. At that time we knew we had about 5-7 years of life left on our composition roof. In October of 2009, my husband and I attended the Home Show held at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds and we submitted our name at the Interlock booth to get more information about metal roofs, as we had been thinking about moving in that direction to replace the roof. About two weeks later, we met Ross Peterson. He spent about two hours educating us on roofs and all the different types of roofing materials available, how a large percentage of landfill waste is comprised of discarded roofing materials, and the range of expenses associated with the different kinds of roofs available to homeowners. He was polite, patient, and very knowledgeable. We went into the meeting hoping that the cost of a metal roof would somehow match up with the amount of money we felt we had available to put a new roof on our house. Overall, we determined that the work being done and the length of time we could expect the roof to last would far outweigh the expense in the long run. Especially since a metal roof can last 50 years, but you can expect to put a composition roof on several times in that time-frame. Our materials were delivered in early December and a few days later we met the work crew. They were friendly, considerate, and seemed well trained to complete the job. Unfortunately, we started having extreme weather conditions, like deep freezes one week and heavy rains the following week. Both of those situations caused the job to be delayed, both due to the safety of the crew and to keep the roof conditions as ideal as possible. We are now almost 3 months post install and are quite happy with the end result. We are pleased with our color choice and plan to paint our house this summer with a coordinating color to complement the roof. Thank you Interlock!
“No Worries”, may be an “in” thing to say now days, but for us it is a reality for the next 50 years! This summer, we didn’t worry about the bottle rockets landing on our roof. This fall, we won’t worry about the shingles blowing off in the next 60 plus mile an hour wind. This winter we won’t worry about the snow. And in the spring, we won’t worry about the moss growing on on our roof. If you are thinking you want a roof like ours, no worries about the salesman pressuring into something you don’t want. They were very professional and nice. Everything they promised was delivered exactly as they promised. You will also have no worries when it comes to the installation, as they too were very professional and left the yard just as they had found it. No worries also when it comes to our carbon footprint, as our existing roof is still on our roof and not in a landfill and when the day comes to replace this roof it is recyclable. They really should rename the Interlock Roofing to No Worries Roofing. “No Worries” in Bremerton
We are DELIGHTED with our new roof! The day after it was completed, we had a windstorm. It was so wonderful to wake up knowing there would be no shingles in the yard or loose shingles on the roof. And it is BEAUTIFUL! We see lots of people stopping to gaze at it. Our home truly looks like a cottage now. We cannot thank you enough for the superb product and the exceptional installers. Thanks again.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
My wife and I want to express our complete satisfaction with the "Aged " title="Copper Roofing" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="2680">Copper" roof your firm installed on our "Barn-house" and gazebo. The two roofs have a high quality appearance and they enhance the looks of the property. We are looking forward to many years of satisfaction. We are now planning to re-paint the house with a color to better blend with the roof. The work performed by your installers was outstanding. They were friendly and very professional. They worked efficiently and energetically, and it was obvious they had the skills to do the job. Thank you for being such an excellent firm.
I have had this roof for almost 7 years, and I am still extremely happy!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Olympic View
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Olympic View, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Olympic View.
Will a metal roof handle Olympic View's snow and ice buildup?
Yes — aluminum's smooth surface and lightweight design (Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) actually shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt, reducing the weight load your structure bears. Olympic View averages about 33 cm of snow annually with roughly 21 freeze-thaw cycles per year, which means repeated expansion and contraction. Asphalt shingles curl and crack under this stress; aluminum's non-corrosive alloy (ASTM B209, 3105-H24) flexes without damage. The four-way interlocking panels lock snow guards securely in place if you choose them, and the smooth profile prevents ice dam formation that gutters must then fight.
Why does aluminum never rust, and what does that mean for a Kitsap County home?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — the element that corrodes and discolors steel. Instead, aluminum develops a protective oxide layer that self-heals when scratched. That's critical in Kitsap County, where the air carries salt moisture from marine influence and annual rainfall exceeds 1,280 mm. Steel roofing requires protective coatings and eventually fails; Interlock's Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides) is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, giving you a genuinely non-corrosive system. Even coastal installations and the Antarctic research station we've roofed prove aluminum outlasts any rust-prone alternative under these exact conditions.
Can a metal roof survive Olympic View's windstorms?
Absolutely. Olympic View sees typical daily-maximum winds around 15 km/h with gusts to 101 km/h — well within the warranty coverage of Interlock's four-way interlocking panels, which resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec. The interlocking design means each panel is mechanically locked on all four sides to its neighbors, preventing the lift and flutter that can separate asphalt shingles in strong gusts. Class 4 impact rating (UL 2218) confirms the panels won't separate or degrade under extreme stress. When Pacific storms roll through, your roof stays put — and your insurance company may recognize that durability with premium discounts.
Does Olympic View's heavy rainfall cause leaks in metal roofs?
Interlock metal roofing is rated for extreme rainfall through rigorous ICC-ES testing (ESR-1790, reissued 2025, covering IBC/IRC standards) and performs flawlessly in the Pacific Northwest. At 1,280 mm of rain annually, Olympic View demands roofing that sheds water aggressively — the four-way interlocking seams create a continuous lock that water cannot penetrate, even under driving rain. Installation over a solid deck with underlayment ensures any moisture that reaches the substrate drains immediately. Unlike asphalt, which can absorb water and leak at the edges as it ages, aluminum's non-porous surface and mechanical lock mean you're leak-free for life. The Guardian warranty even covers leak-related damage.
Will an energy-efficiency metal roof lower cooling costs in Olympic View?
Yes — Olympic View gets about 2,931 sunshine hours per year, and Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat rather than absorb it. Cool Roof Rating Council verification shows initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), with thermal emissivity of 0.84. That means less heat enters your attic in summer, reducing air-conditioning strain and energy bills. With a mean temperature of 11.3°C, you also benefit in winter: the reflective coating reduces the heating load asphalt would amplify. Over 30+ years, the energy savings compound into thousands of dollars — making this the final roof you'll buy and the only one that pays for itself.
What's the hail rating on a metal roof, and can it lower insurance?
Interlock metal roofing earns UL 2218 Class 4 — the highest impact rating available — and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many homeowners don't expect hail in the Pacific Northwest, but Kitsap County's climate includes occasional severe weather events that trigger impact damage claims. Class 4 rating demonstrates impact durability that insurers recognize; many carriers offer premium reductions or preferred coverage for metal roofs, since claims are rare. Unlike asphalt shingles, which dent and crack and start leaking within years of impact, aluminum flexes and holds its integrity. This durability record often translates to tangible savings on your homeowner's insurance renewal.
Is a metal roof light enough to install over my existing shingles?
Yes — that's one of metal roofing's greatest advantages. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This extraordinary lightness means you typically don't need structural reinforcement, and in most cases, Interlock installs directly over existing asphalt without tearing off the old roof first. Compare that to traditional tile or slate, which require expensive framing upgrades. Your home's structure was built to handle the new weight with zero modifications, saving time and thousands in labor. That also means a faster, cleaner installation — no landfill debris, no weeks of construction noise.
Is a metal roof worth the cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Over a roof's full lifespan, metal is far more economical. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years in Kitsap County's wet climate with 1,280 mm annual rainfall and 21 freeze-thaw cycles — meaning two or three replacements over 60 years, each costing thousands in labor and landfill fees. Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited (non-prorated for the original owner) and covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and curling — problems that force asphalt replacement. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, making the first cost manageable. One final roof, one generation of durability, and one-time transferable coverage for the next owner: that's the last roof you buy.
Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?
Substantially. Interlock aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable at end of life, and the panels themselves come from renewable manufacturing processes requiring no virgin material extraction for replacement orders. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, end the tear-off cycle in landfills — millions of tons annually — where they decompose over decades. In Kitsap County, where environmental stewardship matters, metal roofing eliminates that waste stream entirely. The CALGreen-verified low-maintenance profile means fewer roof treatments and chemical applications over the years. Choosing metal is a genuine commitment to reducing your home's environmental footprint while gaining a 30-year coating warranty (ASTM D4214 / D2244 rated) and, typically, a one-time transferable 50-year coverage term for the next owner.
Who installs Interlock Metal Roofing in Olympic View?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the Pacific Northwest since 1997 and specializes in Interlock's five profiles (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, Mediterranean Tile) from the company's Delta, BC manufacturing facility. They understand Kitsap County's climate demands — 1,280 mm annual rainfall, gusts to 101 km/h, and 21 freeze-thaw cycles per year — and install to the ICC-ES ESR-1790 standard that keeps your warranty solid. Local expertise means faster response times, warranty service within the region, and installers who know the unique challenges of coastal Washington homes. Right now, they're offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, making it the ideal time to go direct.
