Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Sheridan Park, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
We had the Interlock Roof installed in November of 2015 since then we have had some torrential rains and winds exceeding 50 mph. The roof has weathered the storms and is just as sound as the day the workers completed the installation. We are extremely pleased with the roof and the appearance of the roof. We are also very pleased that we chose the Interlock roof, both for the appearance and the wear ability of the product. It is a huge relief for us to know that this is the final roof we will ever have to put on our house and that the product is backed by a lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty. Your roofing specialists that installed the roof were very professional, considerate, and thorough in their work. The property was cleaned and checked when the installation was complete. They promptly addressed any concerns we had and insured we were totally satisfied prior to completing the project. The entire crew deserves a hearty well done.
To Whom It May Concern: We bought our house in 2001. At that time we knew we had about 5-7 years of life left on our composition roof. In October of 2009, my husband and I attended the Home Show held at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds and we submitted our name at the Interlock booth to get more information about metal roofs, as we had been thinking about moving in that direction to replace the roof. About two weeks later, we met Ross Peterson. He spent about two hours educating us on roofs and all the different types of roofing materials available, how a large percentage of landfill waste is comprised of discarded roofing materials, and the range of expenses associated with the different kinds of roofs available to homeowners. He was polite, patient, and very knowledgeable. We went into the meeting hoping that the cost of a metal roof would somehow match up with the amount of money we felt we had available to put a new roof on our house. Overall, we determined that the work being done and the length of time we could expect the roof to last would far outweigh the expense in the long run. Especially since a metal roof can last 50 years, but you can expect to put a composition roof on several times in that time-frame. Our materials were delivered in early December and a few days later we met the work crew. They were friendly, considerate, and seemed well trained to complete the job. Unfortunately, we started having extreme weather conditions, like deep freezes one week and heavy rains the following week. Both of those situations caused the job to be delayed, both due to the safety of the crew and to keep the roof conditions as ideal as possible. We are now almost 3 months post install and are quite happy with the end result. We are pleased with our color choice and plan to paint our house this summer with a coordinating color to complement the roof. Thank you Interlock!
“No Worries”, may be an “in” thing to say now days, but for us it is a reality for the next 50 years! This summer, we didn’t worry about the bottle rockets landing on our roof. This fall, we won’t worry about the shingles blowing off in the next 60 plus mile an hour wind. This winter we won’t worry about the snow. And in the spring, we won’t worry about the moss growing on on our roof. If you are thinking you want a roof like ours, no worries about the salesman pressuring into something you don’t want. They were very professional and nice. Everything they promised was delivered exactly as they promised. You will also have no worries when it comes to the installation, as they too were very professional and left the yard just as they had found it. No worries also when it comes to our carbon footprint, as our existing roof is still on our roof and not in a landfill and when the day comes to replace this roof it is recyclable. They really should rename the Interlock Roofing to No Worries Roofing. “No Worries” in Bremerton
We are DELIGHTED with our new roof! The day after it was completed, we had a windstorm. It was so wonderful to wake up knowing there would be no shingles in the yard or loose shingles on the roof. And it is BEAUTIFUL! We see lots of people stopping to gaze at it. Our home truly looks like a cottage now. We cannot thank you enough for the superb product and the exceptional installers. Thanks again.
I have had this roof for almost 7 years, and I am still extremely happy!
Vlad and John are great – caring, kind, courteous, polite – they truly care about the job they do. Give them a raise.
Workmanship exceeded our expectations. They had to do a lot of extra unanticipated work and stayed late into the night to complete it. The crew was great!
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
My wife and I want to express our complete satisfaction with the "Aged " title="Copper Roofing" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="2680">Copper" roof your firm installed on our "Barn-house" and gazebo. The two roofs have a high quality appearance and they enhance the looks of the property. We are looking forward to many years of satisfaction. We are now planning to re-paint the house with a color to better blend with the roof. The work performed by your installers was outstanding. They were friendly and very professional. They worked efficiently and energetically, and it was obvious they had the skills to do the job. Thank you for being such an excellent firm.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sheridan Park
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sheridan Park, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sheridan Park.
How does a metal roof handle snow and ice in Sheridan Park winters?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice far better than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface resists ice dam formation that traps water behind shingles. Sheridan Park averages about 33 cm of snow yearly and roughly 21 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that accelerate asphalt deterioration. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels stay secure through those cycles because the panels expand and contract as one system. Optional snow guards can be installed if you want snow to stay put for aesthetic reasons or to protect landscaping below. The light weight—our Shake profile is just 0.58 lb/sq ft—means zero risk of structural strain even when snow accumulates.
Does metal roofing leak in heavy rain? What about Sheridan Park's wet climate?
No, metal roofing does not leak in rain when installed correctly. The four-way interlocking system creates overlapping seams that shed water downward, the same principle used on commercial buildings in far wetter climates. Sheridan Park receives about 1280 mm of rainfall annually, yet the interlocking design has proven effective from coastal salt-air homes to mountain valleys. Water travels over the raised edges and down the profile—not across seams. Installation over a solid deck with underlayment, as specified in ESR-1790, ensures any water that gets under the panels (rare) drains safely. After 27 years of installations across the Pacific Northwest by our local team, leaking is not a reported issue when spec'd and installed right.
Can metal roofing stay on in strong winds here?
Interlock roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Sheridan Park's typical gusts reach about 101 km/h, well within that safety margin. The four-way interlocking panels lock together mechanically—not glued or nailed individually—so wind pressure pushes the whole system as one unit instead of lifting individual shingles. This distributed load is why the panels survive extreme events others don't. The four corners of each panel sit in the pockets of adjacent panels; a gust has to overcome that mechanical grip at multiple points simultaneously. In 27 years of regional service, we've never had a panel blow off a properly installed Interlock roof.
Does hail damage metal roofing, and can I get an insurance discount?
Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because underwriters know the roof will not fail under impact. Many insurers offer 10-20% reductions on comprehensive coverage; you'll want to contact your agent with the UL 2218 certification. While Sheridan Park is not in a severe hail zone based on 10-year normals, the Class 4 rating provides peace of mind and real economic value. Some customers have recouped the roof cost difference through insurance savings alone over a 10-year period.
Will a metal roof rust in Sheridan Park's rainy climate?
Rust cannot form on aluminum roofing because aluminum has no iron; iron is what rusts. Our panels are fabricated from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. When the coating scratches, aluminum's oxide layer self-heals—a natural process that protects the metal underneath. Steel roofing, by contrast, begins to rust the moment the finish scratches and the bare steel touches moisture. In Sheridan Park's wet climate with about 1280 mm annual rainfall and coastal influences from nearby salt air, that self-healing oxide layer is a genuine advantage. The Guardian lifetime warranty covers rusting because it will never occur.
Can a metal roof actually save money on cooling costs in the Pacific Northwest?
Yes. Interlock offers energy-efficient colors with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. These numbers mean the roof bounces heat away instead of absorbing it like dark asphalt does. In Sheridan Park, with about 2931 sunshine hours yearly and a mean temperature of 11.3°C, most cooling occurs in late spring through early fall. That reflectance reduces attic temperature and lowers the load on air conditioning, trimming energy use over the warm months. The energy savings are modest here compared to Arizona or Texas, but they compound over decades. A metal roof cools passively; you don't have to choose between staying comfortable and staying frugal.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Yes, when you consider total cost over the life of the roof. Asphalt shingles last 15-20 years in Sheridan Park's wet, freeze-thaw climate (21 freeze-thaw cycles per year accelerates deterioration). You'll replace them at least twice, possibly three times, paying labor and disposal fees each time. A metal roof, backed by The Guardian lifetime limited non-prorated warranty for the original owner (and 50 years transferable to the next owner), lasts your lifetime and adds curb appeal and resale value. Current financing is available with no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off the installation cost. Over 50+ years, the per-year cost of a metal roof is actually lower than two or three asphalt replacements.
What do Interlock metal roofs actually look like on a house?
Interlock comes in five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam. Each replicates the profile and shadow line of the traditional material—Slate looks like cut slate tiles, Cedar Shingle mimics individual shingles, Shake echoes rough-sawn wood, Tile captures the barrel curves of clay, and Standing Seam offers the clean industrial look. All are fabricated from the same aluminum alloy and come in multiple colors. The profiles aren't disguises; they're genuine design choices. A Slate roof gives formal elegance, a Shake roof gives rustic character, a Tile roof gives Mediterranean warmth. You choose based on what appeals to you and suits your home's architecture, then enjoy it for life without the cost and maintenance burden of the original materials.
Do I need to reinforce my house structure for a metal roof?
No. Interlock aluminum roofing is extraordinarily light—our Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most structures built to code can support a metal roof retrofit without any reinforcement. This light weight also means the roof can often be installed directly over an existing asphalt shingle roof, eliminating tearoff labor and landfill waste. Your framing sees less structural load than it does with traditional tile or slate, extending the life of your rafters and trusses. During the free site assessment from our local team, we'll confirm your deck condition, but in the vast majority of Sheridan Park homes, no structural work is necessary.
How much upkeep does a metal roof really need?
Metal roofing requires almost none. Unlike asphalt shingles, which need periodic repairs and replacement, or wood shake, which needs periodic treatment and re-sealing, or tile, which needs mortar maintenance, aluminum roofing is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Rinse off any accumulated dirt or pollen if you want—usually once or twice a year is fine in Sheridan Park's climate with about 1280 mm rainfall annually. Rain handles most of the cleaning naturally. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty (ASTM D4214 and D2244 measured) ensures the finish stays true without recoating. No caulking, no sealant reapplication, no wood treatment, no moss removal in wet seasons. You inspect after severe wind (the area sees gusts near 101 km/h), but that's the same good practice for any roof.
