| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
I have had this roof for almost 7 years, and I am still extremely happy!
We had the Interlock Roof installed in November of 2015 since then we have had some torrential rains and winds exceeding 50 mph. The roof has weathered the storms and is just as sound as the day the workers completed the installation. We are extremely pleased with the roof and the appearance of the roof. We are also very pleased that we chose the Interlock roof, both for the appearance and the wear ability of the product. It is a huge relief for us to know that this is the final roof we will ever have to put on our house and that the product is backed by a lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty. Your roofing specialists that installed the roof were very professional, considerate, and thorough in their work. The property was cleaned and checked when the installation was complete. They promptly addressed any concerns we had and insured we were totally satisfied prior to completing the project. The entire crew deserves a hearty well done.
To Whom It May Concern: We bought our house in 2001. At that time we knew we had about 5-7 years of life left on our composition roof. In October of 2009, my husband and I attended the Home Show held at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds and we submitted our name at the Interlock booth to get more information about metal roofs, as we had been thinking about moving in that direction to replace the roof. About two weeks later, we met Ross Peterson. He spent about two hours educating us on roofs and all the different types of roofing materials available, how a large percentage of landfill waste is comprised of discarded roofing materials, and the range of expenses associated with the different kinds of roofs available to homeowners. He was polite, patient, and very knowledgeable. We went into the meeting hoping that the cost of a metal roof would somehow match up with the amount of money we felt we had available to put a new roof on our house. Overall, we determined that the work being done and the length of time we could expect the roof to last would far outweigh the expense in the long run. Especially since a metal roof can last 50 years, but you can expect to put a composition roof on several times in that time-frame. Our materials were delivered in early December and a few days later we met the work crew. They were friendly, considerate, and seemed well trained to complete the job. Unfortunately, we started having extreme weather conditions, like deep freezes one week and heavy rains the following week. Both of those situations caused the job to be delayed, both due to the safety of the crew and to keep the roof conditions as ideal as possible. We are now almost 3 months post install and are quite happy with the end result. We are pleased with our color choice and plan to paint our house this summer with a coordinating color to complement the roof. Thank you Interlock!
“No Worries”, may be an “in” thing to say now days, but for us it is a reality for the next 50 years! This summer, we didn’t worry about the bottle rockets landing on our roof. This fall, we won’t worry about the shingles blowing off in the next 60 plus mile an hour wind. This winter we won’t worry about the snow. And in the spring, we won’t worry about the moss growing on on our roof. If you are thinking you want a roof like ours, no worries about the salesman pressuring into something you don’t want. They were very professional and nice. Everything they promised was delivered exactly as they promised. You will also have no worries when it comes to the installation, as they too were very professional and left the yard just as they had found it. No worries also when it comes to our carbon footprint, as our existing roof is still on our roof and not in a landfill and when the day comes to replace this roof it is recyclable. They really should rename the Interlock Roofing to No Worries Roofing. “No Worries” in Bremerton
We are DELIGHTED with our new roof! The day after it was completed, we had a windstorm. It was so wonderful to wake up knowing there would be no shingles in the yard or loose shingles on the roof. And it is BEAUTIFUL! We see lots of people stopping to gaze at it. Our home truly looks like a cottage now. We cannot thank you enough for the superb product and the exceptional installers. Thanks again.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
My wife and I want to express our complete satisfaction with the "Aged " title="Copper Roofing" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="2680">Copper" roof your firm installed on our "Barn-house" and gazebo. The two roofs have a high quality appearance and they enhance the looks of the property. We are looking forward to many years of satisfaction. We are now planning to re-paint the house with a color to better blend with the roof. The work performed by your installers was outstanding. They were friendly and very professional. They worked efficiently and energetically, and it was obvious they had the skills to do the job. Thank you for being such an excellent firm.
Vlad and John are great – caring, kind, courteous, polite – they truly care about the job they do. Give them a raise.
Workmanship exceeded our expectations. They had to do a lot of extra unanticipated work and stayed late into the night to complete it. The crew was great!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in South Colby
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in South Colby, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in South Colby.
Will a metal roof handle South Colby's snow and ice buildup?
Yes—aluminum's lightweight design and smooth panel profile actually shed snow more effectively than asphalt or wood shingles. With about 33 cm of snow per year and roughly 21 freeze-thaw cycles, your roof needs material that won't absorb moisture or rot. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels stay watertight through freeze-thaw stress, and the aluminum structure won't weaken under snow load because the panels weigh only 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft—meaning no costly structural reinforcement. Snow guards are available if you want to manage shedding on lower roofs.
Why doesn't aluminum rust like some metal roofs?
Aluminum contains no iron, so it physically cannot rust—that corrosion process requires iron oxide. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that seals the metal and self-heals if scratched. In Kitsap County's moist maritime climate, this natural protection is reinforced by Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides of each panel, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Steel roofs lack this built-in immunity and require ongoing maintenance; aluminum roofs do not. This matters in South Colby because your 1280 mm annual rainfall and occasional salt air create conditions where rust-prone materials fail, but aluminum thrives.
How do metal roof panels stay watertight during heavy rain?
Interlock's four-way interlocking design creates a continuous seal that redirects water down and away before it can enter seams. The overlap geometry is proven over 25+ years in coastal and high-rainfall regions—the same design handles Antarctica's research stations and Canadian Pacific homes. In South Colby, with 1280 mm of annual rain, this mechanical lock is far more reliable than asphalt's adhesive seals, which degrade in freeze-thaw cycles. When installed to spec by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., the panels shed water as a unified system, not as individual shingles competing to overlap correctly. A solid deck and quality underlayment add a secondary defense—the same safeguard homeowners use under asphalt or wood.
Can an aluminum metal roof handle Kitsap County wind and gusts?
Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification—well above South Colby's typical gust maxima of about 101 km/h (roughly 63 mph). The four-way interlocking design distributes wind load across the entire panel matrix rather than relying on fasteners alone. This is verified under real-world conditions: the same roof system resists coastal storms from British Columbia to Washington state. Your region averages 15 km/h daily winds with seasonal gusts, so this warranty margin provides confidence that winter and autumn storms won't lift, flex, or loosen panels. Insurance companies often recognize this durability when reviewing wind-resistance claims.
What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing?
Interlock holds UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the panels have been impact-tested to withstand the severe hail events that can total asphalt or wood roofs. While South Colby's climate data doesn't suggest frequent hail, the Pacific Northwest does experience occasional severe weather, and Class 4 certification gives you margin. Some homeowners with metal roofs report lower insurance premiums because the roof itself is unbreakable; you'll want to check with your local agent. Aluminum's non-combustible, impact-resistant design appeals to insurers evaluating long-term claim risk.
Does a metal roof help with cooling costs in the Pacific Northwest?
energy-efficient colors with high solar reflectance (up to 0.55 on Aged Copper Penny) and 0.84 thermal emissivity reduce cooling load compared to dark asphalt. South Colby receives about 2931 sunshine hours annually—more than many Pacific Northwest cities—so reflective coatings actually lower summer cooling costs. Unlike asphalt, which absorbs and stores heat, Interlock's aluminum reflects it, keeping your attic and living spaces cooler without running air conditioning harder. The payoff compounds over 25–50 years: less cooling energy = lower utility bills and reduced carbon footprint. If you have air conditioning or plan to age in place, this matters. For homes without AC, the reflective benefit still reduces heat stress on insulation and extends attic life.
How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof really need?
Interlock aluminum roofs require virtually no maintenance—no resealing, no nail replacement, no moss or algae treatment, and no seasonal inspection crawls. Asphalt shingles need sealing or re-nailing every 7–10 years; wood shakes need regular treatment to prevent rot and pest damage. Aluminum roofs shed debris naturally during the 1280 mm of rain South Colby receives annually. The Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against chalking or fading, so color holds without repainting. With roughly 21 freeze-thaw cycles per year, a traditional tile or slate roof would be vulnerable to cracking; aluminum flexes safely. Interlock's CALGreen verification underscores reduced maintenance—a genuine cost and time savings over the roof's 50-year+ lifespan.
What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. Unlike prorated warranties that fade in value, this one remains full coverage for as long as you own the home. It's also one-time transferable: the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion, adding resale appeal. Over a typical ownership period in South Colby (often 15–20 years before a move), you'll never pay out of pocket for material failure. Combined with the Alunar coating's 30-year finish warranty, your roof stays protected through freeze-thaw stress, heavy rainfall, and the occasional Pacific Northwest windstorm. No other roofing material—asphalt, wood, tile—comes with this depth of protection.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Yes—when you calculate the full roof lifecycle, metal costs less. Asphalt roofs last 15–20 years and require nail replacement, sealing, and moss treatment every few years; you'll replace it 2–3 times during a 50-year period. Each tear-off and landfill disposal adds labor and environmental cost. Interlock roofs last 50+ years with zero maintenance, transferable 50-year warranty, and recyclable aluminum at end of life (avoiding the asphalt-to-landfill cycle). South Colby's 1280 mm annual rain, 21 freeze-thaw days, and 101 km/h gusts create harsh conditions that accelerate asphalt decline. Right now, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—terms that lower the financial barrier. Spread the cost over 50 years and the monthly payment becomes far smaller than repeated asphalt replacements.
How long does metal roof installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?
Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity, with Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. handling the job from start to finish. One major advantage: because Interlock panels weigh only 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft, most existing asphalt or wood-shake roofs can support the new metal layer without structural reinforcement. You avoid the labor cost and disposal fees of a full tear-off, and you stay under roof the entire time. The installer removes gutters, flashings, and trim, installs a solid deck and quality underlayment if needed, then fastens the interlocking panels in sequence. The process is clean, organized, and designed to minimize disruption. Interlock has served the Kitsap region since 1997, so your crew knows local wind patterns, weather windows, and the specific challenges of South Colby's maritime climate.
