Interlock was professional and efficient. We would hire them again for future projects. Better job cleaning up the site of discarded materials.

Better coordination/involvement between Ross & the installers. To improve the transition process from the Sales Rep to the Installation Rep, so the customer knows that the sales and installation are on the same page.

I think they could have better communication and better interactions with the homeowners about problem areas. I didn't get a notification that they removed the lean on the house.

Review: February 8, 2022 Completion: December 31, 2021

They could have improved on the communication throughout the project. I did not fell like their cooperate side was effectively communicating with the installation team. It's like one of them did not get the full the message. In the area where we are and as we were about the estimates and etc...they did not recommend getting snow guards for the roof and that was fine but if you have high end gutters that have the mesh screens over the top then those get turned off pretty badly and i think that they should tell people that if they have a gutter guards that might be damaged by the large chunks of snow, then you might want to get guards.

Review: June 3, 2021 Completion: April 30, 2021

The end of the project could be more definitive. I'm still waiting for them to come take pictures of the roof. I don't like the open end of that because they haven't taken the photos yet. We are super happy with the roof. It is gorgeous! We are so excited to have it. My only complaint, is that I want the photos done.

Review: May 17, 2021 Completion: March 2, 2021

I think the work done and end results are great, the process getting there felt rushed and almost locked me into a situation I couldn't financially take care of, thankfully there was a document I kept that proved me in the right and I was able to proceed without further issue. More care/thoroughness when going over details of the paperwork involved.

Review: September 1, 2020 Completion: June 4, 2020

They did exactly what they were supposed to do, there isn't much to improve on.

★★★★★
Review: March 24, 2020 Completion: February 5, 2020

I think better communication at the beginning of the project and let me know when it would start would have made it much better. It would have prevented an issue at the beginning of the project. It is never good to start a project with an issue. I think someone should have notified me ahead of the time when they were coming or when to expect the delivery of material. The crew got here and they had to call for more material and they let me know. The head of the crew was very informative and let us know what was happening. He was very good.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Burley

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Burley, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Burley.

How does a metal roof handle snow and ice in Burley winters?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far better than asphalt because the smooth, interlocked aluminum surface doesn't give precipitation a grip—it slides off cleanly instead of backing up into dams. Burley averages about 33 cm of snow annually with roughly 21 freeze-thaw cycles per year, the exact conditions that break down asphalt and cause ice dams. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels and lightweight design (Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) mean no structural reinforcement is needed, and snow guards are available if you want to control shedding. The aluminum won't crack or curl in freeze-thaw stress the way asphalt does.

Will a metal roof hold up to Burley's wind and storm gusts?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to spec—well above Burley's typical gust extremes of around 101 km/h. The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors on all sides, so wind can't lift or separate them the way it can with shingles or flat seams. This matters during the region's windier months and occasional severe weather. You get structural security without a heavier roof; asphalt or slate would require much more reinforcement to achieve the same wind hold-down.

Can a metal roof handle Burley's heavy rainfall without leaking?

Metal roofs actually excel in heavy rain because water runs off quickly and doesn't sit on the surface. Burley receives roughly 1280 mm of rain per year, and the four-way interlocked panels shed that volume continuously without pooling or backing up. Unlike asphalt, which can absorb moisture and eventually rot the deck underneath, aluminum is non-porous and won't deteriorate even after decades of exposure. Proper installation over a solid deck and underlayment (which Interlock installers follow) keeps water moving downslope and into gutters. You'll stay drier than with any porous roofing material in a climate like this.

Why don't metal roofs rust if they're exposed to rain and salt air?

Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209)—aluminum that contains no iron, so rusting is chemically impossible. Instead, aluminum forms an oxide layer that self-heals when scratched or damaged, protecting the metal underneath indefinitely. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides) adds another 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, giving extra protection in damp climates like Burley's. Steel roofs require constant coating touch-up and eventually corrode; aluminum roofs don't. This matters over a 50-year lifespan in a region with 1280 mm of annual rain and frequent moisture.

Do reflective metal roof colors really lower cooling costs in the Pacific Northwest?

Yes, energy-efficient Interlock colors are rated with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (on Aged Copper Penny), meaning they bounce heat away rather than absorb it like asphalt does. Burley gets about 2931 sunshine hours per year—enough that reflective coatings pay off year-round by reducing the heat load on your interior. Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms the performance. The savings compound over decades: asphalt absorbs solar energy and raises attic temperatures; aluminum reflects it. In a 50-year roof life, that translates to lower HVAC cycling and measurable utility savings.

Is a metal roof really the last roof I'll buy, or just an expensive alternative to asphalt?

It's genuinely the last roof most homeowners install. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years and need replacement multiple times over a lifetime; Interlock comes with a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, plus a transferable 50-year term for the next owner. Material cost is higher upfront, but you eliminate the tear-off, disposal, and reinstallation labor three or four times. Factor in that aluminum won't rust, rot, split, curl, or lose impact resistance over 50 years in Burley's 1280 mm rain and 21 freeze-thaw cycles annually—and the total cost-per-year plummets below asphalt. Current financing (no payments, no interest until Spring 2027) makes the math even stronger.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. That means most homes can switch to a metal roof over their existing framing without structural upgrades. In Burley, where snow loads of around 33 cm and typical daily-max winds of 15 km/h with gusts to 101 km/h occur regularly, the light weight actually helps: your structure handles the weather better because it's bearing less dead load. Slate and tile would require reinforcement; Interlock typically installs over existing roofs, saving thousands in structural work.

How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or traditional tile?

Metal roofs need almost none. Asphalt requires annual gutter cleaning and shingle replacement as they curl and crack; wood and clay tile need moss treatment, crack sealing, and individual tile replacement every decade. Interlock aluminum simply doesn't split, rot, or curl. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214/D2244) means no repainting; it self-maintains through freeze-thaw cycles that crack other materials. Occasional gutter cleaning and inspection is all you do. Over Burley's 21 annual freeze-thaw days and 1280 mm rain, that durability saves contractor callbacks and labor costs for decades. It's engineered for zero maintenance.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?

Installation typically takes 3–5 days depending on roof complexity and weather. Because Interlock panels are so light—Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft—most homes don't require deck reinforcement or full tearoff. Your installer can often install directly over existing asphalt or wood, which means no dumpsters, no debris hauling, and no weeks of exposure to Burley's frequent rain and 101 km/h gusts. The four-way interlocking system makes sealing quick and foolproof; panels lock on all sides. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and follows ICC-ES ESR-1790 code compliance, so the job meets current building standards and inspections. Minimal disruption, maximum peace of mind.

Is there a real environmental benefit to metal roofing, or is it just marketing?

Real benefit. Interlock aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable and ends the tear-off-to-landfill cycle that asphalt perpetuates. When an asphalt roof reaches end-of-life, millions of tons go to landfills annually; metal gets recovered and remilled. Interlock material manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, and installed from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations, demonstrates that aluminum roofing outlasts the asphalt replacement economy by decades. Over Burley's 21 freeze-thaw cycles and 1280 mm rain per year, you'll never tear off and discard this roof—it simply lasts. The Guardian Warranty's lifetime + 50-year transfer means one roof serves two generations. That's waste reduction, not greenwashing.
