We had the Interlock Roof installed in November of 2015 since then we have had some torrential rains and winds exceeding 50 mph. The roof has weathered the storms and is just as sound as the day the workers completed the installation. We are extremely pleased with the roof and the appearance of the roof. We are also very pleased that we chose the Interlock roof, both for the appearance and the wear ability of the product. It is a huge relief for us to know that this is the final roof we will ever have to put on our house and that the product is backed by a lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty. Your roofing specialists that installed the roof were very professional, considerate, and thorough in their work. The property was cleaned and checked when the installation was complete. They promptly addressed any concerns we had and insured we were totally satisfied prior to completing the project. The entire crew deserves a hearty well done.

To Whom It May Concern: We bought our house in 2001. At that time we knew we had about 5-7 years of life left on our composition roof. In October of 2009, my husband and I attended the Home Show held at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds and we submitted our name at the Interlock booth to get more information about metal roofs, as we had been thinking about moving in that direction to replace the roof. About two weeks later, we met Ross Peterson. He spent about two hours educating us on roofs and all the different types of roofing materials available, how a large percentage of landfill waste is comprised of discarded roofing materials, and the range of expenses associated with the different kinds of roofs available to homeowners. He was polite, patient, and very knowledgeable. We went into the meeting hoping that the cost of a metal roof would somehow match up with the amount of money we felt we had available to put a new roof on our house. Overall, we determined that the work being done and the length of time we could expect the roof to last would far outweigh the expense in the long run. Especially since a metal roof can last 50 years, but you can expect to put a composition roof on several times in that time-frame. Our materials were delivered in early December and a few days later we met the work crew. They were friendly, considerate, and seemed well trained to complete the job. Unfortunately, we started having extreme weather conditions, like deep freezes one week and heavy rains the following week. Both of those situations caused the job to be delayed, both due to the safety of the crew and to keep the roof conditions as ideal as possible. We are now almost 3 months post install and are quite happy with the end result. We are pleased with our color choice and plan to paint our house this summer with a coordinating color to complement the roof. Thank you Interlock!

Review: August 31, 2009

“No Worries”, may be an “in” thing to say now days, but for us it is a reality for the next 50 years! This summer, we didn’t worry about the bottle rockets landing on our roof. This fall, we won’t worry about the shingles blowing off in the next 60 plus mile an hour wind. This winter we won’t worry about the snow. And in the spring, we won’t worry about the moss growing on on our roof. If you are thinking you want a roof like ours, no worries about the salesman pressuring into something you don’t want. They were very professional and nice. Everything they promised was delivered exactly as they promised. You will also have no worries when it comes to the installation, as they too were very professional and left the yard just as they had found it. No worries also when it comes to our carbon footprint, as our existing roof is still on our roof and not in a landfill and when the day comes to replace this roof it is recyclable. They really should rename the Interlock Roofing to No Worries Roofing. “No Worries” in Bremerton

Review: April 9, 2007

We are DELIGHTED with our new roof! The day after it was completed, we had a windstorm. It was so wonderful to wake up knowing there would be no shingles in the yard or loose shingles on the roof. And it is BEAUTIFUL! We see lots of people stopping to gaze at it. Our home truly looks like a cottage now. We cannot thank you enough for the superb product and the exceptional installers. Thanks again.

We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!

My wife and I want to express our complete satisfaction with the "Aged " title="Copper Roofing" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="2680">Copper" roof your firm installed on our "Barn-house" and gazebo. The two roofs have a high quality appearance and they enhance the looks of the property. We are looking forward to many years of satisfaction. We are now planning to re-paint the house with a color to better blend with the roof. The work performed by your installers was outstanding. They were friendly and very professional. They worked efficiently and energetically, and it was obvious they had the skills to do the job. Thank you for being such an excellent firm.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Manchester

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Manchester, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Manchester.

Does a metal roof handle heavy snow and ice well in Manchester?

Yes—aluminum's lightweight design (the Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft) means snow load isn't a structural concern, and the four-way interlocking panels shed water before ice dams can form. With Kitsap County averaging about 33 cm of snow annually and roughly 21 freeze-thaw cycles per year, you face real ice-dam risk with asphalt. Metal's smooth surface and thermal properties work together: snow slides off naturally, and the aluminum's low thermal mass doesn't store heat the way darker materials do, keeping the roof surface cold when outdoor temps fluctuate. Optional snow guards are available if you prefer to manage runoff in specific areas.

Why don't aluminum roofs rust, and does that matter in Washington's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and breaks down in moisture. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath. In Manchester, where you receive about 1280 mm of annual rain, that distinction is critical: aluminum roofing stays structurally sound and watertight indefinitely, while steel roofing (which does contain iron) requires constant vigilance against rust perforation. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel as extra insurance, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading even in salt-air environments—so corrosive moisture isn't a long-term threat.

Can a metal roof stand up to Kitsap County wind gusts?

Absolutely. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, and Kitsap County's typical gusts reach about 101 km/h (roughly 63 mph). The four-way interlocking design—each panel locks on all four edges to its neighbors—distributes wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. During the windier months, this interlocking geometry prevents the flutter and lifting that can occur with single-fastened systems. Combined with proper installation over a solid deck, you get redundancy: if wind tries to lift one panel, the mechanical lock holds it in place. That's why the warranty covers wind exposure comprehensively.

What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing, and could it lower my insurance?

Interlock panels carry the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That's the durability insurance underwriters recognize. Many homeowners see their premiums drop after installing a Class 4 roof because hail damage becomes a non-issue; your insurer knows the roof won't fail. While Kitsap County doesn't experience frequent large hail, the protection is real: aluminum's inherent resilience plus the profile's shape (Slate, Cedar Shingle, and Shake designs distribute impact force) means hail simply bounces off. It's worth checking with your insurer—several offer discounts specifically for Class 4 metal roofs.

Is a metal roof really worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over the life of your home, aluminum metal roofing is the last roof you'll buy, which changes the financial picture entirely. Initial cost is higher than asphalt, but asphalt roofs need replacement every 15–20 years; you'll tear off and landfill old shingles twice while a metal roof is still in its first decade. Factor in that labor (tear-off, disposal, and reinstall) often runs $1–2 per square foot of work, and over 50 years, the economics flip decisively in metal's favor. Add the Guardian warranty—lifetime limited, non-prorated for the original owner—and you've eliminated the gamble of premature failure. Plus, current financing runs through Spring 2027 with no payments and no interest, making the upfront investment manageable while you're already considering replacement.

What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing, and how transferable is it?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning no dollar limits fade as the roof ages, and it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That's unusual in roofing, where most warranties become prorated (you pay more as time passes). Even more valuable: the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion date. When you resell, the new buyer gets genuine peace of mind—a 50-year guarantee is longer than most mortgages. That transferability adds tangible resale appeal because the next owner knows they're not inheriting a roof liability. It's a testament to Interlock's confidence in aluminum's durability.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal requires virtually none. Asphalt shingles need moss/algae removal every few years in wet climates, wood shakes crack and cup and demand treatment, and traditional tile fractures and needs individual replacement. Interlock aluminum? Rinse it occasionally with a hose—rain handles most of that for you. In Manchester's 1280 mm annual rainfall, nature does the cleaning. The Alunar fluorocarbon coating is also CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning no staining or discoloration requiring pressure washing. The four-way interlocking panels shed debris naturally. Over a 50-year span, you'll spend roughly zero hours on roof upkeep, freeing time and money for other priorities. That's not marketing—it's a direct result of aluminum's inertness and the coating's durability.

Do metal roofs reduce cooling costs, and how do they work in a cloudy climate?

Yes, especially in mixed-weather regions like yours. Interlock offers energy-efficient colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), which means the roof reflects heat that dark asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. Even in Manchester—where you get about 2931 sunshine hours annually but plenty of cloud cover—reflective metal roofing measurably reduces peak summer cooling load. A Cool Roof Rating Council-rated finish bounces heat away during clear spells, preventing attic temperature spikes that force air conditioning to work harder. In winter, the thermal benefit reverses slightly, but the insulation in your attic does the heavy lifting then. Net result: smaller cooling bills without sacrificing warmth in cold months.

What's the installation timeline, and can it be installed over my existing roof?

Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity, and one of metal's biggest cost advantages is that the Tile profile installs directly over most existing roofs without tearing off old shingles or reinforcing the structure. Because Interlock panels weigh just 0.59 lb/sq ft for Tile (roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay), existing framing handles the load easily—no structural upgrades needed. That means no days of exposed interior, no disposal costs, and no extended disruption. Standing Seam and other profiles also overlay cleanly. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has served the region since 1997 and knows Kitsap County building codes (ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance) inside and out. They'll confirm your roof deck is suitable during an initial assessment, and from there, installation is straightforward.

Does a metal roof provide fire protection, and is Class A rating available?

Yes—Interlock aluminum is non-combustible and carries Class A fire classification (the highest rating). Because aluminum is inert and contains no petroleum-based binders like asphalt, it won't ignite or contribute fuel to a fire. That's a significant safety advantage in any climate, and it's recognized by building codes nationwide (ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790, reissued 2025). While Kitsap County isn't a high wildfire zone, Class A protection still matters: it can lower homeowner's insurance premiums and gives you genuine peace of mind during extreme weather events when lightning or ember exposure is a risk. It's also why many insurance companies view metal roofs favorably—fire safety is a concrete, measurable benefit that asphalt and wood simply cannot match.
