We had the Interlock Roof installed in November of 2015 since then we have had some torrential rains and winds exceeding 50 mph. The roof has weathered the storms and is just as sound as the day the workers completed the installation. We are extremely pleased with the roof and the appearance of the roof. We are also very pleased that we chose the Interlock roof, both for the appearance and the wear ability of the product. It is a huge relief for us to know that this is the final roof we will ever have to put on our house and that the product is backed by a lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty. Your roofing specialists that installed the roof were very professional, considerate, and thorough in their work. The property was cleaned and checked when the installation was complete. They promptly addressed any concerns we had and insured we were totally satisfied prior to completing the project. The entire crew deserves a hearty well done.

To Whom It May Concern: We bought our house in 2001. At that time we knew we had about 5-7 years of life left on our composition roof. In October of 2009, my husband and I attended the Home Show held at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds and we submitted our name at the Interlock booth to get more information about metal roofs, as we had been thinking about moving in that direction to replace the roof. About two weeks later, we met Ross Peterson. He spent about two hours educating us on roofs and all the different types of roofing materials available, how a large percentage of landfill waste is comprised of discarded roofing materials, and the range of expenses associated with the different kinds of roofs available to homeowners. He was polite, patient, and very knowledgeable. We went into the meeting hoping that the cost of a metal roof would somehow match up with the amount of money we felt we had available to put a new roof on our house. Overall, we determined that the work being done and the length of time we could expect the roof to last would far outweigh the expense in the long run. Especially since a metal roof can last 50 years, but you can expect to put a composition roof on several times in that time-frame. Our materials were delivered in early December and a few days later we met the work crew. They were friendly, considerate, and seemed well trained to complete the job. Unfortunately, we started having extreme weather conditions, like deep freezes one week and heavy rains the following week. Both of those situations caused the job to be delayed, both due to the safety of the crew and to keep the roof conditions as ideal as possible. We are now almost 3 months post install and are quite happy with the end result. We are pleased with our color choice and plan to paint our house this summer with a coordinating color to complement the roof. Thank you Interlock!

Review: August 31, 2009

“No Worries”, may be an “in” thing to say now days, but for us it is a reality for the next 50 years! This summer, we didn’t worry about the bottle rockets landing on our roof. This fall, we won’t worry about the shingles blowing off in the next 60 plus mile an hour wind. This winter we won’t worry about the snow. And in the spring, we won’t worry about the moss growing on on our roof. If you are thinking you want a roof like ours, no worries about the salesman pressuring into something you don’t want. They were very professional and nice. Everything they promised was delivered exactly as they promised. You will also have no worries when it comes to the installation, as they too were very professional and left the yard just as they had found it. No worries also when it comes to our carbon footprint, as our existing roof is still on our roof and not in a landfill and when the day comes to replace this roof it is recyclable. They really should rename the Interlock Roofing to No Worries Roofing. “No Worries” in Bremerton

Review: April 9, 2007

We are DELIGHTED with our new roof! The day after it was completed, we had a windstorm. It was so wonderful to wake up knowing there would be no shingles in the yard or loose shingles on the roof. And it is BEAUTIFUL! We see lots of people stopping to gaze at it. Our home truly looks like a cottage now. We cannot thank you enough for the superb product and the exceptional installers. Thanks again.

We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!

My wife and I want to express our complete satisfaction with the "Aged " title="Copper Roofing" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="2680">Copper" roof your firm installed on our "Barn-house" and gazebo. The two roofs have a high quality appearance and they enhance the looks of the property. We are looking forward to many years of satisfaction. We are now planning to re-paint the house with a color to better blend with the roof. The work performed by your installers was outstanding. They were friendly and very professional. They worked efficiently and energetically, and it was obvious they had the skills to do the job. Thank you for being such an excellent firm.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Oyster Bay

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Oyster Bay, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Oyster Bay.

How does a metal roof handle snow and ice in Oyster Bay winters?

Aluminum's light weight and smooth interlocked panels shed snow and ice effectively without the structural strain that slate or tile creates. Oyster Bay receives about 33 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 21 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions where ice dams form easily on asphalt. The four-way interlocking design sheds meltwater consistently, and optional snow guards can be installed on steeper pitches if desired. Unlike heavier materials, aluminum roofing requires no structural reinforcement, meaning your existing framing supports the system safely through wet, heavy snow events.

Will a metal roof rust in Oyster Bay's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it develops a self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal beneath. Steel roofing rusts in wet conditions, but aluminum's chemistry makes that impossible here. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish—applied to both sides of every panel and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading—adds a second corrosion barrier. With Oyster Bay averaging 1280 mm of rain annually and coastal salt air exposure, this dual-layer protection means your roof resists degradation while asphalt deteriorates under UV and moisture year-round.

Does metal roofing hold up to hail, and could it lower my insurance?

Interlock metal roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This proven impact resistance often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because the roof outlasts hail events that damage asphalt or traditional tile. Several major insurers recognize the durability advantage and adjust premiums accordingly. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification and ICC-ES ESR-1790 documentation; the combination of non-combustible aluminum and impact resistance makes a strong case for a rate review.

Can a metal roof withstand Oyster Bay's winter storms and coastal winds?

The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Oyster Bay's typical daily winds average 15 km/h, with gusts recorded to 101 km/h—well within the system's rated capacity. The overlapping panel design distributes wind loads across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fasteners alone, so the interlocks themselves provide structural redundancy. This is why the product has performed successfully in coastal and Antarctic environments since 1998; the mechanical interlocking system simply outperforms fastener-only designs in sustained gusts.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No. The Interlock Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb per square foot—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so your existing framing requires no reinforcement. Even the heavier Shake profile (0.58 lb/sq ft) is negligible compared to slate or traditional tile. Most Oyster Bay homes can accept metal roofing installation directly over their existing roof because the aluminum system adds virtually no dead load. This eliminates expensive structural upgrades and allows a faster installation process, reducing labor costs and keeping you under roof sooner.

How long will a metal roof last, and what does the warranty actually cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for as long as you own the home. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding significant resale appeal. Combined with the 30-year coating warranty and the product's proven track record since 1998, you're looking at a roof that will outlast multiple asphalt replacements. With Oyster Bay's 21 annual freeze-thaw cycles, the non-prorated coverage means you're protected against the exact stresses that degrade conventional roofing.

Is metal roofing fire-safe for homes in Oyster Bay?

Interlock roofing is non-combustible aluminum and achieves Class A fire classification when installed to ICC-ES ESR-1790 specifications. This is the highest fire rating available and exceeds asphalt shingles (which are combustible) and wood shake (which is highly flammable). The aluminum alloy will not ignite, burn, or contribute fuel to a fire—a critical safety advantage in any region. For homeowners concerned about wildfire risk or meeting stricter building codes, this non-combustibility also satisfies CALGreen verification requirements and may improve your home's fire-safety profile in the eyes of insurers and future buyers.

What maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Aluminum roofing requires significantly less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. There is no seasonal coating renewal, no moss treatment, no individual shingle or tile replacement, and no wood rot inspection. Simply clear gutters and leaves twice yearly—the same basic upkeep any roof needs. The Alunar coating is warranted against chalking and fading for 30 years, meaning the finish stays protective and attractive without refinishing. In Oyster Bay's 1280 mm annual rainfall and frequent moisture, this low-maintenance profile is a major advantage over wood shake (which rots) or asphalt (which deteriorates under UV and pooling water).

How long does metal roof installation take, and can it go over my old roof?

Installation typically takes 3–5 days depending on roof size and complexity. Because aluminum panels weigh so little—Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft—contractors can often install directly over your existing asphalt roof without tearing off the old material. This eliminates one of the largest labor costs and landfill waste from a traditional roofing project. No structural reinforcement is required, so there are no engineering delays. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and can coordinate a timeline that suits your schedule; current promotions offer no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, so the installation itself doesn't delay your cash flow.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable at the end of its life, and because the product lasts decades longer than asphalt, you eliminate multiple tear-off-to-landfill cycles per century. Each asphalt roof replacement generates tons of shingle waste; metal roofing breaks that cycle entirely. The lightweight design also reduces transportation emissions compared to heavy tile or slate. When your metal roof eventually reaches the end of its service life, the aluminum scrap market ensures it returns to the material supply chain as new products rather than sitting in a landfill for centuries. In Oyster Bay's rainy climate, choosing a 50+ year roof over a 15–20 year asphalt one represents a meaningful reduction in your home's environmental footprint.
