Interlock was professional and efficient. We would hire them again for future projects. Better job cleaning up the site of discarded materials.

Review: October 23, 2019 Completion: August 15, 2019

Better coordination/involvement between Ross & the installers. To improve the transition process from the Sales Rep to the Installation Rep, so the customer knows that the sales and installation are on the same page.

Review: November 30, 2024 Completion: October 29, 2024

I think they could have better communication and better interactions with the homeowners about problem areas. I didn't get a notification that they removed the lean on the house.

Review: February 8, 2022 Completion: December 31, 2021

They could have improved on the communication throughout the project. I did not fell like their cooperate side was effectively communicating with the installation team. It's like one of them did not get the full the message. In the area where we are and as we were about the estimates and etc...they did not recommend getting snow guards for the roof and that was fine but if you have high end gutters that have the mesh screens over the top then those get turned off pretty badly and i think that they should tell people that if they have a gutter guards that might be damaged by the large chunks of snow, then you might want to get guards.

Review: June 3, 2021 Completion: April 30, 2021

The end of the project could be more definitive. I'm still waiting for them to come take pictures of the roof. I don't like the open end of that because they haven't taken the photos yet. We are super happy with the roof. It is gorgeous! We are so excited to have it. My only complaint, is that I want the photos done.

Review: May 17, 2021 Completion: March 2, 2021

I think the work done and end results are great, the process getting there felt rushed and almost locked me into a situation I couldn't financially take care of, thankfully there was a document I kept that proved me in the right and I was able to proceed without further issue. More care/thoroughness when going over details of the paperwork involved.

★★★★★
Review: September 1, 2020 Completion: June 4, 2020

They did exactly what they were supposed to do, there isn't much to improve on.

★★★★★
Review: March 24, 2020 Completion: February 5, 2020

I think better communication at the beginning of the project and let me know when it would start would have made it much better. It would have prevented an issue at the beginning of the project. It is never good to start a project with an issue. I think someone should have notified me ahead of the time when they were coming or when to expect the delivery of material. The crew got here and they had to call for more material and they let me know. The head of the crew was very informative and let us know what was happening. He was very good.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in East Port Orchard

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in East Port Orchard, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in East Port Orchard.

Why won't my metal roof rust in East Port Orchard's rainy climate?

Interlock roofing is made from 3105-H24 aluminum alloy that contains no iron, so rust is chemically impossible. With about 1280 mm of annual rainfall and coastal moisture, steel would corrode—but aluminum develops a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal when scratched. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides) adds a second defense against salt air and wet conditions. That's why Interlock installs on everything from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations. You'll never need to repaint or treat rust spots.

How does a metal roof handle East Port Orchard's snow and ice dams?

East Port Orchard averages about 33 cm of snow yearly with roughly 21 freeze-thaw days—conditions that create ice-dam risk on asphalt. Metal roofing's smooth, interlocking surface sheds snow and ice faster than textured shingles, reducing water backup behind gutters. The four-way interlocking panels stay sealed even as snow moves, and the light weight (Slate at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural overload from accumulated snow. Optional snow guards let homeowners control runoff timing. Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly with freeze-thaw cycles, unlike asphalt shingles that crack after repeated temperature swings.

Will a metal roof stay secure during Kitsap County wind gusts?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph. East Port Orchard's typical gusts reach about 101 km/h (63 mph), well below that threshold. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, creating a unified assembly that doesn't rely on shingles overlapping or nailed corners coming loose. When installed to specification, there are no exposed fasteners, no lifted edges, and no shingle blow-off risk. The interlocking design is also why the warranty covers wind damage—the system is engineered to perform in severe gusts.

Does Interlock metal roofing qualify for hail damage insurance coverage?

Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While East Port Orchard's climate history shows rare severe hail, this rating may help you qualify for insurance discounts or preferred rates; contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification. Unlike asphalt shingles that dent and split under impact, aluminum's density absorbs hail energy without permanent deformation. Many insurers view metal roofing with high impact ratings as lower-risk, which can offset the upfront cost over 30+ years.

What warranty does Interlock offer, and how long will the roof last?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no depreciation. The Alunar coating itself carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 tested). If you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion. Given Interlock's manufacture since 1998 and installations in extreme climates (Antarctic research stations, coastal salt-air homes), real-world lifespan regularly exceeds 50 years. That's the last roof most homeowners buy.

Can my existing roof structure support a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?

No reinforcement needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing asphalt or wood roofs without structural modifications. Even the heavier Shake profile (0.58 lb/sq ft) is a fraction of traditional tile weight. East Port Orchard homes built for standard asphalt shingles can accept Interlock without engineering. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms code compliance for direct installation over existing roofing. This means faster installation, lower labor costs, and no gut-and-rebuild expense.

Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in the Pacific Northwest?

Yes, when you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock offers Cool Roof Rating Council-rated options with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny). While East Port Orchard averages about 2931 sunshine hours yearly and cooling demand is modest compared to sunbelt climates, reflective coatings still reduce heat absorption on warm days and lower attic temperatures. This extends HVAC component life and cuts summer conditioning costs even in the Pacific Northwest. More importantly, the reflective finish keeps dark attic spaces cooler during the 21 annual freeze-thaw days, reducing thermal stress on fasteners and materials.

How does metal roofing prevent leaks in a climate with 1280 mm of annual rainfall?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels overlap and seal at all edges—water cannot travel sideways into seams the way it does with asphalt shingles. Each panel locks to its neighbors, creating continuous channels that shed water downslope. Unlike shingles (which rely on sealant strips that degrade), the mechanical interlock remains effective for decades without re-sealing. The solid deck underneath, combined with underlayment and proper installation, handles East Port Orchard's heavy rainfall without pooling or saturation. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms water-shedding performance. No sealant caulking, no roof-top pooling, no leak-prone penetrations.

How long does an Interlock metal roof installation take in East Port Orchard?

Installation typically spans 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity, with most single-family homes completed in 4–5 days. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving this region since 1997, handles removal of old roofing, deck prep, underlayment, panel installation, and trim—often in one weather window. Because Interlock installs over existing roofs (no decking replacement required), labor time drops versus full tear-offs. The lightweight aluminum panels (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) mean faster handling and fewer structural concerns. Current regional promotion includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, reducing upfront cash flow while work proceeds.

What maintenance does an Interlock metal roof need in the Pacific Northwest?

Interlock metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance—no annual inspections, no moss treatment, no sealant reapplication. Asphalt shingles demand granule-loss monitoring, three-tab replacement, and regular caulking; wood shakes need staining and rot prevention; tile requires mortar repair. Aluminum oxide naturally resists growth (no moss or algae accumulation). Leaves and debris slide off the smooth surface. The Alunar fluorocarbon coating (30-year warranty) doesn't chalk, fade, or require resealing. East Port Orchard's 1280 mm rainfall and freeze-thaw cycles would accelerate traditional roof degradation, but Interlock's non-porous surface simply sheds moisture. CALGreen verified for reduced maintenance, it frees you from the annual roofing chores other homeowners face.
