Review: August 1, 2017

To whom it may concern: We recently needed our old asphalt shingle roof replaced as it was damaged and leaking from recent storm damage. Reviewing our options, we decided on metal since we live on the beach. After looking at the different metal roofs available and looking at online reviews we decided on Interlock. We were not disappointed. The process was quick and the timeline discussed initially at purchase was met. The company kept us informed during the entire process. Our roof had an additional issue not seen with most roof replacements, it was covered with solar panels. Interlock coordinated the removal and then the reinstallation with our solar installer. The panels needed removing and then the mounting brackets needed to be reinstalled so as to keep the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty in force; all went well. I was out of town while some of the roofing was being done, when I returned the roof was completed and all that was needed was the final inspection. I was surprised by the look of the final product, while I had seen pictures the actual product looked much better. The roof looks like “slate” tile, it does not look “metal. We had comments on the roof by neighbors during and after installation and people at work have asked for more information. I highly recommend Interlock Metal Roof to anyone needing a new roof.

We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!

My wife and I want to express our complete satisfaction with the "Aged " title="Copper Roofing" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="2680">Copper" roof your firm installed on our "Barn-house" and gazebo. The two roofs have a high quality appearance and they enhance the looks of the property. We are looking forward to many years of satisfaction. We are now planning to re-paint the house with a color to better blend with the roof. The work performed by your installers was outstanding. They were friendly and very professional. They worked efficiently and energetically, and it was obvious they had the skills to do the job. Thank you for being such an excellent firm.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Hansville Heights

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Hansville Heights, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Hansville Heights.

How does a metal roof handle Hansville Heights' snow and ice buildup?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface prevents ice dams that trap meltwater. With about 37 cm of annual snow and 31 freeze-thaw days per year, your roof experiences constant thermal cycling; aluminum's non-corrosive design means it won't degrade from repeated freezing and thawing. The lightweight Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft installs without structural reinforcement, so snow load isn't a concern even during heavy accumulation.

Will heavy rain cause leaks with a metal roof?

No; Hansville Heights receives about 1148 mm of rain annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking seams are engineered to channel water away and prevent pooling. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, creating a continuous water barrier that performs identically to asphalt in laboratory testing. When installed over solid deck and underlayment per ICC-ES ESR-1790, the system performs as a unified weather-tight assembly, proven in 25+ years of coastal and high-precipitation installations.

Can Interlock metal roofing handle Hansville Heights' wind gusts?

Yes; your area experiences gusts up to 112 km/h, and Interlock is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors horizontally and vertically, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. This proven architecture has secured installations from Pacific coastal salt-air homes to extreme-wind research stations without documented blow-off.

Why won't my Interlock roof rust like a steel metal roof?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the base metal even when scratched. Roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy meets ASTM B209 standards and is topped with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. In Kitsap County's damp marine climate with 17 km/h typical winds, this dual protection means you'll never face the rust staining, structural weakness, or replacement costs that plague steel roofs.

Will an Interlock metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors reflect heat rather than absorb it; Aged Copper Penny achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 with thermal emissivity 0.84, meaning less heat enters your home during the approximately 2898 sunshine hours Hansville Heights receives annually. Cool Roof Rating Council ratings confirm measurable temperature reduction compared to asphalt. Over a 50-year lifespan, energy reflection compounds into significant cooling savings, especially during the growing number of warmer days.

Does Interlock's hail rating matter for homeowner's insurance in Washington?

Yes; Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize Class 4 impact resistance and offer premium discounts or extended replacement coverage. Combined with the lifetime material warranty (non-prorated for the original owner), this creates a strong foundation for insurance negotiations and eliminates the risk of hail-related replacement costs that affect asphalt and traditional tile roofs.

Can my roof structure support a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?

No reinforcement is needed; the Slate profile installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft and the Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Interlock installs over most existing roofs without structural upgrades, which saves thousands in framing work. With Kitsap County's 31 annual freeze-thaw cycles and variable snow loads, the ability to add a durable roof without disturbing your home's structural integrity is a major practical advantage.

How long does an Interlock metal roof last, and what's actually covered?

The Guardian Warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty to the original owner covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The one-time transferable clause gives the next owner 50 years from completion—far longer than asphalt (15-20 years) or traditional wood shake (20-30 years). In Hansville Heights' damp, variable climate with 1148 mm annual rain and freeze-thaw stress, non-prorated coverage means full replacement value applies year one through decades, making it the last roof you'll need to buy.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Interlock requires significantly less maintenance than asphalt or wood shake. No granule loss, no algae growth mitigation, no regular resealing, and no wood treatment needed. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214 and D2244 testing. In a climate with 37 cm annual snow and 1148 mm rain, this translates to one visual inspection per year versus the semi-annual cleaning and repairs asphalt and wood require. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden over the roof's life.

Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes; Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, whereas asphalt shingles typically end up in landfills. Over 25+ years of manufacturing since 1998, Interlock has diverted thousands of tons from waste streams. At end-of-life, aluminum retains scrap value and enters the recycling supply chain instead of creating permanent landfill burden. Combined with a 50-year transferable warranty, you eliminate the asphalt tear-off-to-replacement cycle entirely, dramatically lowering your home's long-term environmental footprint while actually saving money.
