I have had this roof for almost 7 years, and I am still extremely happy!

Review: February 19, 2016

We had the Interlock Roof installed in November of 2015 since then we have had some torrential rains and winds exceeding 50 mph. The roof has weathered the storms and is just as sound as the day the workers completed the installation. We are extremely pleased with the roof and the appearance of the roof. We are also very pleased that we chose the Interlock roof, both for the appearance and the wear ability of the product. It is a huge relief for us to know that this is the final roof we will ever have to put on our house and that the product is backed by a lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty. Your roofing specialists that installed the roof were very professional, considerate, and thorough in their work. The property was cleaned and checked when the installation was complete. They promptly addressed any concerns we had and insured we were totally satisfied prior to completing the project. The entire crew deserves a hearty well done.

Review: February 11, 2011

To Whom It May Concern: We bought our house in 2001. At that time we knew we had about 5-7 years of life left on our composition roof. In October of 2009, my husband and I attended the Home Show held at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds and we submitted our name at the Interlock booth to get more information about metal roofs, as we had been thinking about moving in that direction to replace the roof. About two weeks later, we met Ross Peterson. He spent about two hours educating us on roofs and all the different types of roofing materials available, how a large percentage of landfill waste is comprised of discarded roofing materials, and the range of expenses associated with the different kinds of roofs available to homeowners. He was polite, patient, and very knowledgeable. We went into the meeting hoping that the cost of a metal roof would somehow match up with the amount of money we felt we had available to put a new roof on our house. Overall, we determined that the work being done and the length of time we could expect the roof to last would far outweigh the expense in the long run. Especially since a metal roof can last 50 years, but you can expect to put a composition roof on several times in that time-frame. Our materials were delivered in early December and a few days later we met the work crew. They were friendly, considerate, and seemed well trained to complete the job. Unfortunately, we started having extreme weather conditions, like deep freezes one week and heavy rains the following week. Both of those situations caused the job to be delayed, both due to the safety of the crew and to keep the roof conditions as ideal as possible. We are now almost 3 months post install and are quite happy with the end result. We are pleased with our color choice and plan to paint our house this summer with a coordinating color to complement the roof. Thank you Interlock!

Review: August 31, 2009

“No Worries”, may be an “in” thing to say now days, but for us it is a reality for the next 50 years! This summer, we didn’t worry about the bottle rockets landing on our roof. This fall, we won’t worry about the shingles blowing off in the next 60 plus mile an hour wind. This winter we won’t worry about the snow. And in the spring, we won’t worry about the moss growing on on our roof. If you are thinking you want a roof like ours, no worries about the salesman pressuring into something you don’t want. They were very professional and nice. Everything they promised was delivered exactly as they promised. You will also have no worries when it comes to the installation, as they too were very professional and left the yard just as they had found it. No worries also when it comes to our carbon footprint, as our existing roof is still on our roof and not in a landfill and when the day comes to replace this roof it is recyclable. They really should rename the Interlock Roofing to No Worries Roofing. “No Worries” in Bremerton

Review: April 9, 2007

We are DELIGHTED with our new roof! The day after it was completed, we had a windstorm. It was so wonderful to wake up knowing there would be no shingles in the yard or loose shingles on the roof. And it is BEAUTIFUL! We see lots of people stopping to gaze at it. Our home truly looks like a cottage now. We cannot thank you enough for the superb product and the exceptional installers. Thanks again.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Glenwood

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Glenwood, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Glenwood.

Does metal roofing handle Glenwood's heavy snow and ice buildup?

Yes—aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt. Glenwood receives about 154 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 46 freeze-thaw cycles per year, creating the exact conditions where ice dams form on conventional roofs. Interlock panels' four-way interlocking design and low-friction profile prevent snow and ice from pooling. You can install snow guards if you prefer controlled shedding, but the metal itself won't trap moisture, rot, or weaken under repeated freezing. This matters because freeze-thaw damage is one of the primary failure modes for asphalt and wood roofs in your climate.

How does aluminum metal roofing perform through repeated freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw climates because it has no water absorption and no structural fibers that crack when frozen. With 46 annual freeze-thaw days typical for Glenwood, plus 937 mm of annual rainfall, your roof faces constant moisture stress. Asphalt shingles absorb water, which expands when it freezes, causing delamination and curling. Interlock aluminum panels are manufactured to ASTM B209 standards and coated with Alunar 70% PVDF on both sides—the bottom coat seals out moisture from below. The material cannot rot, split, or curl. This is why the Guardian Warranty covers splitting and curling for life on the original owner.

Can aluminum roofing rust in Washington's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopically thin oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath and self-heals when scratched. Glenwood's 937 mm annual rainfall and coastal humidity (Kitsap County is near salt air) make corrosion a real concern for steel roofs, but not aluminum. Interlock panels are roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides—extra protection against moisture attack. The Guardian Warranty covers rust for the life of the roof on the original owner, transferable to the next owner for 50 years.

Will a metal roof stay put during Glenwood's wind storms?

Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Glenwood's typical wind gusts reach about 108 km/h, well within that range. The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors on all four sides, creating a unified system rather than individual shingles. This interlocking geometry is why the system earns its wind warranty—the panels cannot lift, separate, or blow off individually. Wind is one of the leading causes of shingle loss and water intrusion; Interlock's mechanical lock means that problem is eliminated entirely.

How does metal roofing prevent leaks in heavy rain?

Metal roofing prevents leaks through gravity, overlap geometry, and continuous coverage—not absorption. Glenwood receives about 937 mm of rain annually, distributed across roughly 150–160 rainy days. Interlock panels overlap and interlock on all four sides, creating a directed downslope path for water that gravity pulls away from seams and fasteners. The four-way interlock closes gaps mechanically, so water cannot pool or find entry points. Unlike asphalt, which relies on granule integrity and can develop micro-cracks, aluminum panels maintain their integrity across the full lifespan. Installation over a solid deck with underlayment (standard practice) adds a secondary water barrier. Properly installed, metal roofing has zero documented leak issues in high-rainfall climates.

Does metal roofing protect against hail damage, and can I get insurance discounts?

Interlock Metal Roofing panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers hail perforation up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the panels withstand 2-inch steel ball drops from 20 feet without cracking or losing impact resistance. While hail is less common in Glenwood than in inland areas, Class 4 rating qualifies you for insurance premium reductions on many comprehensive policies. Check with your insurer for specific discounts; many offer 10–25% reductions for Class 4 roofing. Unlike asphalt, which dents and loses granules under impact, aluminum is work-hardened and absorbs impact without cracking, maintaining long-term weather performance.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed because Interlock aluminum roofing is extraordinarily light. The Mediterranean Tile profile—which visually replaces heavy concrete or clay tile—installs at only 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than the traditional tile it mimics. Most homes in Glenwood can handle this weight without any framing upgrades, and it can install directly over your existing roof, eliminating costly tear-off labor. Compare this to slate or clay tile, which require structural assessment and often reinforced joists. The Slate profile weighs even less. This lightweight advantage becomes critical if your home was built decades ago with lighter load assumptions, or if you're planning a retrofit. Interlock's ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms compliance with IBC/IRC codes for installation over existing roofs.

What maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires significantly less maintenance than asphalt or wood. Asphalt shingles need annual inspection for granule loss, curling, and moss growth—especially in Glenwood's 937 mm rain and 3218 sunshine hours annually, which accelerate both weathering and algae. Wood shakes demand annual cleaning to prevent splitting and rot, plus regular sealing. Interlock aluminum panels are CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance: they don't curl, rot, split, or support moss growth in the way organic materials do. Occasional gutter cleaning and debris removal are all that's needed. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists chalking and fading for 30 years (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured), so repainting is not required. Over a 50-year roof life, this difference saves thousands in labor and replacement costs.

Is a metal roof more expensive than asphalt when you factor in the full lifespan?

Upfront, metal costs more; over the roof's life, it's substantially cheaper. Asphalt shingles cost less to install but last 15–25 years in Glenwood's climate (937 mm rain, 46 freeze-thaw days, and UV from 3218 annual sunshine hours accelerate degradation). You'll replace asphalt two to three times over 50 years—three tear-offs, three installations, and significant disposal costs. Interlock Metal Roofing carries a lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner, transferable for 50 years) and routinely outlasts 40–50 years. You buy it once. Current financing includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, which narrows the gap immediately. When you account for labor, materials, and landfill costs across decades, metal roofing is the last roof you'll need to buy.

Who installs Interlock Metal Roofing in Glenwood, and how long have they been serving the area?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the Glenwood and Kitsap County region since 1997—27 years of local expertise. They understand Glenwood's specific climate challenges: 154 cm of annual snow, 937 mm rain, and the transition from maritime to inland conditions that require precise installation technique. Local installation matters because proper interlocking, fastening, and flashing are essential for the 120 mph wind warranty and leak-free performance to be valid. The PNW team knows local building codes, typical home construction in the area, and how to handle existing roof conditions common to older Kitsap County homes. When you choose local service, you also get faster response times for any future questions or warranty matters. Contact them directly for a site assessment and current financing details.
