There was an issue at the end with the cleanup. There was a lot of debris left in the gutters, so my husband had to go in and clean them out. When our 2nd leak issue happened, Jessi saw it and verbalized the gutters should have been cleaned out. Also, I did not like that when the workers came in to get the check we had to fill out a rating scale right in front of them, and I found this a little odd. I didn't feel comfortable having an issue with the cleanup, and making that known in front of them. I didn't want to have to explain why I had this issue to them, so I gave them a perfect score.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Castle Manor

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Castle Manor, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Castle Manor.

Will a metal roof hold up to Castle Manor's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's non-corrosive oxide layer actually strengthens with freeze-thaw cycling rather than degrading like asphalt or wood. Castle Manor experiences about 79 freeze-thaw days per year combined with roughly 88 cm of snow, conditions that crack and curl traditional shingles. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) expands and contracts uniformly without the stress fractures that plague brittle materials. The four-way interlocking design accommodates thermal movement while maintaining the seal, and the 30-year Alunar® PVDF coating remains flexible across temperature swings.

How does a metal roof perform with Castle Manor's annual snowfall?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice more efficiently than asphalt, reducing ice dam risk in your region's ~88 cm annual snow. The smooth, interlocking aluminum panels create a unified surface that discourages snow packing at valleys and eaves—the exact zones where ice dams form. The coating maintains surface integrity through the roughly 79 annual freeze-thaw cycles Castle Manor experiences, so micro-cracks that trap meltwater won't develop. You can add snow guards where desired for safety, but the inherent slope and material properties reduce the maintenance burden that asphalt shingles demand in this climate.

Can a metal roof handle Castle Manor's wind gusts?

Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well above Castle Manor's typical gust peaks of 96 km/h. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together mechanically—each panel grips its neighbors—so wind cannot separate or lift individual shingles the way it does asphalt shingles. During installation to spec, the system meets ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation standards for structural wind resistance. Your roof won't flutter, rattle, or develop the progressive damage that comes from repeated gust-induced flex.

Is metal roofing better for hail, and can it lower insurance costs?

Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible, impact-resistant profile can qualify homeowners for insurance discounts in some policies, particularly in regions with hail or wind damage history. The aluminum construction resists denting better than asphalt and won't lose granules or develop weak spots after impact. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and the impact-resistant design to discuss potential premium reductions.

Why don't metal roofs rust like I've heard about steel roofing?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes into rust. Instead, aluminum develops a self-healing oxide layer that actually strengthens and protects the underlying metal. Even in salt-spray environments, Interlock's roofing-grade aluminum is manufactured and installed globally from coastal homes to Antarctica. The addition of the Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides) adds a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. For Castle Manor's ~822 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw stress, the combination of non-corrosive aluminum and dual-sided coating delivers permanent corrosion immunity—a guarantee that asphalt or steel roofing cannot match.

Does a metal roof need structural reinforcement like slate or tile?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum Tile profile weighs approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofs without engineer-specified beam upgrades. Even the heavier Shake profile comes in at roughly 0.58 lb/sq ft. This dramatic weight difference means no costly framing modifications, faster installation, and the ability to re-roof without interior disruption. Asphalt shingles average 2–3 lb/sq ft, so aluminum and asphalt are comparable in load; the real savings emerge when you compare aluminum to traditional tile, where your home's structure already stands ready to support the new roof.

Will an energy-efficiency metal roof reduce cooling costs in Milwaukee County?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt, reducing cooling demand on warmer days. Aged Copper Penny achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—Cool Roof Rating Council rated. Castle Manor receives about 3,128 sunshine hours annually; each hour of direct sun on a dark asphalt roof raises attic temperature, forcing air conditioning to work harder. The reflective aluminum surface keeps that heat outside. Over a 30–50 year roof life, the cooling savings accumulate significantly, particularly in shoulder seasons when spring and fall sunshine warms homes substantially.

How much maintenance does Interlock metal roofing need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance after installation—no gutter cleaning from fallen granules, no annual inspections for curling or rot, no spot replacements. Asphalt shingles shed granules continuously (visible in gutters within months), require flashing caulk resealing every 5–10 years, and deteriorate predictably. Shake and wood roofs demand routine fungicide treatments and frequent repairs in a climate with 88 cm snow and 79 freeze-thaw days annually. Interlock's aluminum is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Leaves and debris rinse away in Castle Manor's ~822 mm annual rainfall. The sealed interlocking joints and non-corrosive material mean no maintenance protocol—just a roof that works.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost over a roof's lifetime?

A metal roof is the last roof you buy. Interlock's lifetime limited non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—eliminates the cycle of re-roofing every 15–20 years that asphalt demands. Asphalt costs less initially but requires tear-off and landfill disposal every two decades; aluminum lasts 50+ years and transfers to the next owner for another 50-year term. Over a 50-year horizon, a single aluminum installation (with zero maintenance) costs significantly less than three asphalt replacements plus removal fees. The Guardian Warranty guarantee on material lifespan removes financial uncertainty from your home's largest exposed system.

How does aluminum roofing compare to asphalt shingles environmentally?

Aluminum roofing breaks the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Asphalt shingles become waste every 15–25 years; millions of tons end up in landfills annually. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, and at end-of-life (50+ years from now), aluminum recovers its full material value in recycling—no disposal cost, no landfill burden. The lightweight design (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) means lower transportation carbon compared to traditional tile. Over Castle Manor's typical 50-year ownership, a single metal installation eliminates the environmental footprint of three asphalt replacements. The material itself contains no harmful adhesives or petrochemicals, and the non-combustible aluminum (Class A fire rated) reduces wildfire spread risk in any region.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Castle Manor’s climate?

Yes. Castle Manor averages about 88 cm of snow, 822 mm of rain, roughly 79 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 96 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
