Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Walker’s Point, Wisconsin
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
It's too early to tell. The roof looks good and has held up against rain for one month. Scheduling the project was very challenging. It took lots of pushing and back and forth to establish a two week window, months out, for the installation. It took from October until August the next year from start to finish. This most likely wouldn't be an issue for most people, but my roof was already leaking and my work schedule is abnormal. The installation team was excellent. Nice people, clear interactions and expectations.
They can improve their communication after signing the contract with a salesperson. There were a few months where I didn't have a direct contact to check in for materials during the timeframe of the project because I had a couple of projects going on at the same time with the solar panels being installed. It all worked out, but I think that would be an area to improve in. It looks beautiful, and I love it!
Better communication around delays in start date. I would have been find with delays if they were transparent and kept to date as we passed what we were told multiple times.
They could improve on communication, getting back to me. I got mixed messages with them about installation dates. At one time they were supposed to show up on a Tuesday, then said Wednesday, then it was 3 weeks after that when they showed up. There is horrible communication between the installation people, that call to let you know, and the regional installation manager. He told me I lied, that they weren't supposed to be there that day, so I called corporate, and they said yes, they were. Then they said it would be the next day. I love my roof. Dealing with them was kinda hard.
That is only based on the fact that they misled me with the project date. They could have improved on their communication with the customer and given a realistic starting date. They used weather related issues for the reason for the delays and there were no weather issues in our area, that is for sure. One of the reasons why I agreed to the price was because of the timeframe that they told me that they could have the job finished in. If I knew that the job wasn't going to be done until February, I would have got other quotes from other companies. I agreed to the price because of the timeframe that they said that they could finish the project in.
Really nothing that I can think of. They did a great job installing my roof. So very happy with the roof and the way it looks. I get a lot of comments. All good. Thank You Steve Doine
If you could get the price lower then I would chose Interlock Roofing.
Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Walker’s Point
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Walker’s Point, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Walker’s Point.
Will a metal roof hold up through Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes. Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but its oxide layer self-heals when scratched, preventing the corrosion that degrades other materials through Walker's Point's approximately 79 freeze-thaw days per year. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) used in Interlock panels was designed for coastal salt-air homes and Antarctic research stations—far harsher than Milwaukee County's freeze-thaw regime. The four-way interlocking system accommodates movement without compromising panel integrity.
How does metal roofing perform under Walker's Point's snow load?
The light weight of Interlock panels—the Shingle profile at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58, Tile at 0.59—means snow accumulation (roughly 88 cm annually here) places minimal structural stress compared to traditional tile or slate. Snow sheds naturally from metal's smooth surface, reducing ice-dam formation during the region's 22-year average 88 cm snowfall. Optional snow guards can be installed where roof pitch or property lines require it. The panels are engineered to handle the full snow load that Wisconsin code requires.
Can metal roofing survive Walker's Point's wind gusts?
Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Walker's Point experiences typical gusts around 96 km/h (60 mph), well within that margin. The interlocking geometry distributes wind load across adjoining panels, preventing uplift that would threaten shingles. This design has been proven in coastal and mountain installations for over 25 years, making it reliable for Milwaukee County's wind patterns.
Why doesn't aluminum metal roofing rust like steel does?
Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—period. When exposed to air, aluminum forms a protective oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, sealing off the metal beneath. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires ongoing protective coatings because iron oxidizes continuously. In Walker's Point's moist climate (about 822 mm rain annually), this difference matters: a steel roof's coating degrades over time, eventually exposing bare metal. Interlock aluminum panels come with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, but the aluminum itself is the primary rust-prevention layer.
Does metal roofing hold up to hail, and can it lower insurance costs?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer discounts on metal roofs relative to asphalt. Talk to your agent about your specific policy, but the documented impact resistance and non-combustibility of aluminum often qualify for premium reductions. With hail a seasonal risk in Wisconsin, this rating provides genuine financial and physical protection.
Will my house need structural reinforcement for a metal roof?
No. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no reinforcement is necessary. The Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles are even lighter. In fact, metal roofing installs directly over most existing roofs without removal, saving demolition costs and time. This lightweight advantage is especially valuable for older Milwaukee County homes or additions where structural upgrades would be expensive. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790) confirms safe installation on standard roof framing.
How much maintenance does metal roofing really need?
Virtually none compared to asphalt, wood shake, or clay tile. Metal doesn't split, crack, curl, or rot—the Guardian Warranty covers all of those failures. Asphalt requires regular inspections, patch repairs, and replacement every 15–20 years. Wood shake demands annual cleaning and sealing to prevent rot and insect damage. Interlock aluminum sheds debris naturally and resists algae growth. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty confirms finish durability. Over a 50+ year lifespan, the maintenance cost difference against traditional materials is substantial, making metal the lowest-care option available.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost in Wisconsin?
Yes, when measured over the roof's life. Asphalt costs less initially but requires replacement every 15–20 years in climates like Walker's Point, where 822 mm of rain and 88 cm of snow per year accelerate deterioration. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner, transferable 50 years) means one roof purchase covers the life of most homes. Factor in zero maintenance, no tear-off landfill fees, and the absence of repair calls over decades, and metal roofing becomes the last roof you buy. Energy savings from energy-efficient colors with up to 0.55 solar reflectance add measurable annual value too.
Is aluminum metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?
Substantially. Interlock aluminum panels are approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, whereas asphalt shingles end up in landfills—millions of tons annually in North America. Asphalt tear-offs generate disposal costs and environmental impact; metal roofing installs over existing roofs, eliminating that waste. Aluminum's recyclability means your roof becomes a resource, not refuse. Over Walker's Point's typical 50+ year ownership period, the environmental math heavily favors metal: one installation versus multiple asphalt cycles, each requiring removal, transport, and landfill space. The Guardian Warranty's 50-year transferable term also extends product life, further reducing embodied waste.
How long does a metal roof installation take in Walker's Point?
Most residential installations complete in 2–4 days, depending on roof size and complexity. The Interlock system's four-way interlocking panels and lightweight construction (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58) speed installation compared to traditional materials. A key advantage: metal roofing installs over your existing roof in most cases, eliminating tear-off delays and weather exposure. Interlock Metal Roofing, serving the region since 2001, can provide a site-specific timeline after inspection. The process is straightforward, minimizing disruption to your household while protecting your home during installation.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Walker’s Point’s climate?
Yes. Walker’s Point averages about 88 cm of snow, 822 mm of rain, roughly 79 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 96 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
