Review: September 27, 2023 Completion: August 29, 2023

It's too early to tell. The roof looks good and has held up against rain for one month. Scheduling the project was very challenging. It took lots of pushing and back and forth to establish a two week window, months out, for the installation. It took from October until August the next year from start to finish. This most likely wouldn't be an issue for most people, but my roof was already leaking and my work schedule is abnormal. The installation team was excellent. Nice people, clear interactions and expectations.

Review: May 9, 2023 Completion: March 24, 2023

They can improve their communication after signing the contract with a salesperson. There were a few months where I didn't have a direct contact to check in for materials during the timeframe of the project because I had a couple of projects going on at the same time with the solar panels being installed. It all worked out, but I think that would be an area to improve in. It looks beautiful, and I love it!

Review: March 21, 2022 Completion: February 14, 2022

Better communication around delays in start date. I would have been find with delays if they were transparent and kept to date as we passed what we were told multiple times.

Review: March 11, 2022 Completion: February 14, 2022

They could improve on communication, getting back to me. I got mixed messages with them about installation dates. At one time they were supposed to show up on a Tuesday, then said Wednesday, then it was 3 weeks after that when they showed up. There is horrible communication between the installation people, that call to let you know, and the regional installation manager. He told me I lied, that they weren't supposed to be there that day, so I called corporate, and they said yes, they were. Then they said it would be the next day. I love my roof. Dealing with them was kinda hard.

Review: February 12, 2018 Completion: February 3, 2018

That is only based on the fact that they misled me with the project date. They could have improved on their communication with the customer and given a realistic starting date. They used weather related issues for the reason for the delays and there were no weather issues in our area, that is for sure. One of the reasons why I agreed to the price was because of the timeframe that they told me that they could have the job finished in. If I knew that the job wasn't going to be done until February, I would have got other quotes from other companies. I agreed to the price because of the timeframe that they said that they could finish the project in.

Review: May 17, 2017 Completion: July 29, 2016

Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Merrill Park

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Merrill Park, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Merrill Park.

Will metal roofing hold up to Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes — aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it has no iron to rust and expands/contracts uniformly. Merrill Park sees about 79 freeze-thaw days per year, and the 3105-H24 aluminum alloy won't crack, split, or corrode as temperatures swing between seasons. The Alunar coating on both panel sides stays flexible through 30 years of that stress. Wood shingles and clay tile are what suffer in this climate; aluminum just keeps working.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and ice dams in Wisconsin?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice faster than asphalt because its smooth surface and thermal properties reduce ice adhesion — you'll see meltwater move off the roof rather than pool and refreeze. Merrill Park averages about 88 cm of snow annually, and four-way interlocking panels won't sag or leak under that load. Add optional snow guards if you want to control where snow slides. The lightweight profile (Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement needed even in heavy snow zones.

Why choose aluminum roofing over steel in a wet climate?

Steel rusts because it contains iron; aluminum cannot rust because it has no iron. Instead, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that seals any scratch automatically. In Merrill Park's 822 mm of annual rain, that's a critical difference — steel requires ongoing maintenance and eventually fails. The Alunar PVDF fluorocarbon finish (both sides, 30-year warranty) adds extra protection, but the aluminum itself is the permanent shield against corrosion that defines this product.

Can metal roofing survive Merrill Park's wind and gusts?

Yes. Four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec. Merrill Park's typical gusts reach 96 km/h, well within the panel's grip range. The interlocking system prevents each panel from lifting independently — they lock together so the entire roof acts as one unit. That design is why this product has been installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station without wind damage as a common issue.

Does metal roofing resist hail damage, and can it lower my insurance premiums?

Interlock Metal Roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because underwriters recognize the reduced claim risk. Many carriers in Wisconsin reward Class 4-rated roofs because hail events are real here and metal roofs simply don't lose granules, split, or leak the way asphalt does. Check with your insurer; the savings can offset installation cost over just a few years.

Will a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors reflect heat rather than absorb it, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84. That means on Merrill Park's roughly 3,128 sunshine hours per year, a light-colored metal roof bounces more summer heat away than dark asphalt does, lowering AC demand and utility bills. The Cool Roof Rating Council verification backs those reflectance numbers. Summer cooling savings compound over decades — another reason metal roofing is the last roof you'll need to buy.

What warranty does Interlock Metal Roofing actually offer, and how long will it last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner — covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable: the next owner gets 50 years from completion date. That means your roof is protected for life, and your buyer inherits protection until 2075 (or whenever 50 years ends). No prorated clause means no arguments about percentage coverage by year — Interlock stands behind the product completely.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Asphalt typically costs less upfront but lasts 15–20 years; you'll replace it 2–3 times in your lifetime, each time paying labor plus hauling old shingles to the landfill. Metal roofing costs more initially but never needs replacement — one roof for life. Over 50+ years, the total cost of ownership is lower: no reroof cycles, no labor repeats, no landfill fees. Add that energy-efficiency colors reflect heat (saving cooling dollars in Merrill Park's 3,128 sunshine hours annually) and potential insurance discounts, and the payback timeline shortens further.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Almost none. Unlike wood shakes (which split and rot), asphalt shingles (which lose granules and curl), or clay tile (which cracks in freeze-thaw), metal roofing requires no sealing, recoating, or repair cycles. Rain and sun don't degrade aluminum or its Alunar coating — CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance needs. In Merrill Park's 88 cm of annual snow, debris clears naturally. Gutters and trim need the same care as any roof, but the panels themselves are maintenance-free for life.

Can metal roofing be installed over my existing asphalt roof without tearing it off?

Yes — aluminum panels are extraordinarily light (Tile profile at ~0.59 lb/sq ft is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile), so they install over most existing roofs without structural reinforcement. Interlock Metal Roofing, serving this region since 2001, handles hundreds of overlay installations. The installer applies underlayment to your existing roof, then fastens the four-way interlocking panels on top. No tear-off means lower labor cost, zero landfill waste from old shingles, and faster completion. Your home stays watertight during installation.
