Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.

Review: April 25, 2017

We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Silver City

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Silver City, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Silver City.

Will a metal roof hold up to Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes — aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it has no pores to trap water and crack like asphalt or wood. Silver City experiences about 79 freeze-thaw days per year, and that constant cycling is what wears out traditional roofs. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so it won't corrode or degrade as temperatures swing between freezing and your typical 9.4°C annual mean. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating, warranted 30 years against degradation, adds another layer of protection through those seasonal swings.

How does metal roofing perform under Silver City's snow loads?

Metal roofing sheds snow efficiently because ice doesn't bond to smooth aluminum the way it does to asphalt. Silver City receives about 88 cm of snow annually, and the four-way interlocking panels are engineered to handle that load safely. Snow guards can be installed to manage snow release if desired, but the lightness of Interlock panels — the Slate at just 0.41 lb/sq ft — means your roof handles accumulation without structural strain. The sloped profiles (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile) all naturally channel meltwater away during the freeze-thaw cycles typical of your 9.4°C mean climate.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel metal roofing?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — rust requires iron oxidation, which is chemically impossible in pure aluminum alloy. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum (ASTM B209), materials that form a protective oxide layer the moment they're exposed to air. If that layer is scratched, it self-heals automatically. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides adds further protection, especially valuable in climates like Silver City's where you'll see about 822 mm of rain per year plus seasonal moisture fluctuations. Steel roofs require constant vigilance; aluminum simply doesn't degrade that way.

Can metal roofing handle Silver City's wind gusts?

Completely. Silver City's typical gusts reach about 96 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The interlocking design means panels lock together at all four edges, not just fastened at the top — wind pressure actually tightens the grip rather than creating lift. In a region where seasonal wind variability is part of the climate, this engineering gives you confidence that your roof stays put through spring storms and winter blows alike.

Does metal roofing stand up to hail, and can it lower insurance costs?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts for Class 4 roofs, though discounts vary by company and policy. Silver City's climate includes thunderstorm potential, and Class 4 certification proves your roof won't fail where asphalt or inferior metal roofs would crater. Check with your insurer about specific discounts before installation; the durability is verified, but the financial benefit depends on your plan.

Will a metal roof help cool my house or lower energy bills?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorb it — initial solar reflectance reaches up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), and thermal emissivity is 0.84, meaning the roof releases absorbed heat efficiently. On days with about 3128 sunshine hours annually, those reflective properties reduce attic temperatures compared to dark asphalt. While Wisconsin winters are cool (mean 9.4°C), reflective roofs still lower cooling costs during summer peaks and reduce the strain on air conditioning systems. Cool Roof Rating Council verification means those energy claims are measured, not marketing hype.

Is metal roofing light enough to install over my existing roof?

Yes — one of aluminum's biggest advantages is its weight. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the look of traditional clay or concrete tile, installs at only about 0.59 lb/sq ft — roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. Because Interlock panels weigh so little, they can typically be installed directly over your existing asphalt roof without structural reinforcement. Compare that to slate or clay tile, which often require expensive framing upgrades. Your home's structure doesn't need modification, the installation timeline shortens, and the old roof stays in place as additional insulation and protection during the work.

What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner — non-prorated — covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. Interlock has been manufacturing since 1998 and installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations, proving real-world durability far exceeds typical asphalt life (15–20 years). In Silver City's 79 annual freeze-thaw days and ~822 mm of rain, a roof that doesn't crack, curl, or corrode is genuinely the last roof you'll buy.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Significantly less than asphalt, wood, or tile. Metal doesn't require annual inspection for curling, splitting, or moss growth the way wood and asphalt do. Rain and snow naturally clean aluminum surfaces; the Alunar 70% PVDF coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance requirements. Over Silver City's 88 cm annual snowfall and about 822 mm of rain, debris tends to shed rather than accumulate. Gutters need cleaning like any roof, but you won't be replacing shingles, treating rot, or sealing gaps — the sealed interlocking panels simply don't fail in the ways traditional roofs do.

Is aluminum roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes — aluminum is about 95% recyclable and breaks the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. When you replace an asphalt roof, all of it goes to landfill; Interlock panels, when they eventually need replacement (far in the future), are recycled into new products. Aluminum recycling uses only 5% of the energy required to produce virgin aluminum, making it genuinely sustainable. Over a 50-year cycle in Silver City's climate — with about 822 mm annual rainfall and 88 cm of snow creating ongoing stress on roofs — choosing a material that ends its life as raw material rather than waste aligns environmental values with economics.
