Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Maple Prairie, Wisconsin
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
I have made, and continuously still make, numerous recommendations to family & friends to install a Interlock roof. And, I have produced pictures on demand that I stored on my smart phone. If possible, I would be appreciative if I could get the drone footage that Jesse had taken after the finishing of the installation. I believe it would be a great selling point coming from a true customer to help propel the Interlock name. There are just a couple areas on the roof that the installation crew could have touched-on during the installation, but overall the roof looks simply amazing. Quality certainly displays the professionalism the installers had put into their work. Since the installation of our new roof, we have received numerous compliments from many of our neighbors that walk around our subdivision, plus a handful of neighbors in the adjoining subdivisions. Many questions have been asked with many answers given. We are definitely happy with our new Interlock roof. We have NOT once questioned or second guessed our decision to install an Interlock roof. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made for re-investing in our home...Thank you, Interlock!
Excellent roof! Looks good! The installers were courteous and professional. Put the tarp all around the house and kept the site very clean. I was impressed with their super service. They bent over backward to please us. The A-Team of Roofing!
I love the roof! It looks great, and the squirrels that we’re crawling all over my old asphalt roof slide right off it. The snow slides off, too. I hope to get some $500 referrals. The crew was terrific, hardworking, courteous, polite, and clean.
All in all I just love it and everyone thinks it looks beautiful. The whole experience was great.
The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off.
I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we like (love) our new roof. Installation went smoothly, and the crew was extremely nice, especially Jesse and Sal, the ones I talked with the most. Most of all, they cleaned up any messes every night.
Everything was great except for the price. The salesman was thorough and he explained everything very well. All was well. I just had some sticker shock.
I am very pleased with the job they did and Greg was great.
Great experience overall. Highly recommend. Nothing really...all went well. Super from start to finish.
We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt.
Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don't nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn't rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI
The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Maple Prairie
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Maple Prairie, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Maple Prairie.
How does a metal roof handle Wisconsin's heavy snow and ice buildup?
Metal roofs shed snow far better than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface prevents ice dams from forming and holding meltwater against your home. Maple Prairie averages about 143 cm of snow annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels create a unified, slippery surface that lets snow slide safely. You can add snow guards to control the pace if needed. Unlike asphalt, which absorbs water and deteriorates under freeze-thaw stress—Maple Prairie experiences roughly 79 freeze-thaw cycles per year—aluminum's oxide layer remains impervious. No water penetrates, so no splitting or water damage.
Why does freeze-thaw cycling in Wisconsin affect roofing materials differently?
When water freezes and thaws repeatedly, it expands and contracts, cracking asphalt, wood shakes, and even concrete or clay tiles from the inside out. Maple Prairie's 79 annual freeze-thaw days create this stress relentlessly. Aluminum, by contrast, is non-porous—water cannot penetrate or freeze inside the material. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy maintains its structural integrity indefinitely through this cycle. The self-healing oxide layer protects even microscopic scratches, so freeze-thaw stress simply cannot degrade it the way it degrades asphalt shingles or wooden shakes over a 15-20 year lifecycle.
Will a metal roof rust in a Wisconsin climate?
Steel roofing can rust because steel contains iron, which oxidizes when exposed to oxygen and moisture—a constant threat in Wisconsin's 659 mm of annual rainfall. Aluminum contains no iron, so true rust is chemically impossible. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, transparent oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath and self-heals when scratched. Even in harsh salt-air environments from coastal British Columbia to Antarctica, Interlock's aluminum roofs have performed flawlessly since 1998. In Maple Prairie's inland freshwater climate, aluminum is essentially corrosion-proof for the life of your home.
Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than real concrete or clay tile. Even the heavier Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is negligible compared to the weight of water trapped in asphalt shingles after Maple Prairie's 659 mm annual rainfall. Most homes can support this weight without any upgrades. Better yet, Interlock installs directly over your existing roof in most cases, eliminating the cost and waste of a tear-off. Your structural engineer will confirm zero reinforcement needed.
Can a metal roof withstand Wisconsin wind and ice storms?
Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph—far higher than the typical gusts of about 92 km/h Maple Prairie experiences. The mechanical locking system prevents panels from lifting or separating, so even severe winter wind-driven rain or the occasional high-gust event poses no threat. Unlike asphalt shingles, which lift and tear in strong winds, or traditional tile that can dislodge, Interlock's aluminum panels remain locked together as one cohesive unit. This also means fewer callbacks and repairs when storms pass through.
What's the hail rating, and can it lower my insurance?
Interlock holds UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available, warranted against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts—contact your agent to confirm. In Maple Prairie, where spring hail and severe thunderstorms are not uncommon, this protection gives you peace of mind. Unlike asphalt, which dents and loses granules under hail impact and requires replacement, Interlock's aluminum panels absorb impact without permanent damage. Your roof simply keeps working, and you avoid the insurance claim hassle and deductible entirely.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?
Interlock aluminum requires virtually no maintenance—no patching, no granule replacement, no wood treatment. Unlike asphalt, which deteriorates from UV exposure and must be replaced every 15-20 years, or wood shakes, which split, rot, and demand constant sealing, aluminum is inert. Maple Prairie's 3011 annual sunshine hours will not fade or chalk your roof; Interlock's Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is warranted for 30 years against these issues. Occasional gutter cleaning is all you need. CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance burden, Interlock saves you time, money, and the hassle of repeat repairs.
Will a metal roof keep my home cooler and lower energy costs?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it the way asphalt does, reducing your summer cooling load. The Aged Copper Penny finish achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning it bounces heat away effectively. In Maple Prairie, where mean temperature is about 6.1°C but summer peaks exceed 25°C, this cooling benefit compounds over years. Metal roofs also allow air circulation beneath the deck, preventing heat buildup in attics. Winter heating loss is negligible because aluminum's reflectance is tuned to balance seasonal needs, lowering your overall annual energy bill.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?
Metal costs more initially but is the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt fails every 15-20 years in Wisconsin's harsh freeze-thaw climate; you'll replace it 3-4 times before Interlock's lifetime warranty expires. Each replacement means labor, disruption, and landfill waste. Interlock's Guardian Warranty covers the original owner for life, non-prorated, and transfers 50 years to the next owner, protecting your investment and future resale value. Over 40-50 years, the math favors metal decisively. Add lower maintenance costs, potential insurance savings, and avoided emergency repairs, and you're not paying a premium—you're making a single smart investment.
