Review: June 17, 2017Completion: February 17, 2017

I have made, and continuously still make, numerous recommendations to family & friends to install a Interlock roof. And, I have produced pictures on demand that I stored on my smart phone. If possible, I would be appreciative if I could get the drone footage that Jesse had taken after the finishing of the installation. I believe it would be a great selling point coming from a true customer to help propel the Interlock name. There are just a couple areas on the roof that the installation crew could have touched-on during the installation, but overall the roof looks simply amazing. Quality certainly displays the professionalism the installers had put into their work. Since the installation of our new roof, we have received numerous compliments from many of our neighbors that walk around our subdivision, plus a handful of neighbors in the adjoining subdivisions. Many questions have been asked with many answers given. We are definitely happy with our new Interlock roof. We have NOT once questioned or second guessed our decision to install an Interlock roof. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made for re-investing in our home...Thank you, Interlock!

Excellent roof! Looks good! The installers were courteous and professional. Put the tarp all around the house and kept the site very clean. I was impressed with their super service. They bent over backward to please us. The A-Team of Roofing!

Review: April 10, 2017Completion: March 17, 2015

I love the roof! It looks great, and the squirrels that we’re crawling all over my old asphalt roof slide right off it. The snow slides off, too. I hope to get some $500 referrals. The crew was terrific, hardworking, courteous, polite, and clean.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: July 31, 2008

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off.

I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we like (love) our new roof. Installation went smoothly, and the crew was extremely nice, especially Jesse and Sal, the ones I talked with the most. Most of all, they cleaned up any messes every night.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: September 24, 2014

We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt.

Review: June 9, 2026Completion: June 10, 2026

Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don't nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn't rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: June 8, 2023Completion: April 30, 2023

The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Dayton

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Dayton, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Dayton.

How does a metal roof handle Dayton's snow and ice buildup?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far better than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface prevents moisture from bonding. Dayton receives about 107 cm of snow annually, and the aluminum's low thermal mass means less heat is absorbed from inside the home—reducing ice dam formation. Four-way interlocking panels (ESR-1790 certified) distribute weight evenly, and the lightweight design at 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft means no structural reinforcement is needed, even when snow accumulates. Optional snow guards are available if you need to manage runoff direction.

Will Dayton's freeze-thaw cycles damage an aluminum metal roof?

No—aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it has no iron and cannot rust or rot. Dayton experiences about 90 freeze-thaw days per year, which would crack wood shakes and degrade asphalt seams, but aluminum's 3105-H24 alloy is engineered for exactly these cycles. The Alunar® PVDF coating (30-year warranty, ASTM D4214 tested) maintains flexibility across temperature swings from subzero to summer heat. The self-healing oxide layer handles seasonal expansion and contraction without degrading.

Can an aluminum metal roof withstand Dayton's wind gusts?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking system is warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph. Dayton's typical gusts reach 91 km/h (57 mph), well below this threshold. The interlocking design means each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, creating a unified assembly that moves as one unit instead of individual shingles lifting or separating. This engineering prevents wind from finding gaps and also eliminates the need for constant re-nailing, which weakens conventional asphalt roofs over time.

What hail protection does a metal roof offer?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This rating is earned through rigorous impact testing, not marketing claims. Many homeowners in hail-prone regions see insurance premium reductions because aluminum's density and hardness prevent denting and puncture damage that asphalt absorbs. Check with your Dayton-area insurer about potential discounts; the UL 2218 Class 4 rating is widely recognized by underwriters.

Does an aluminum metal roof require structural reinforcement?

No structural reinforcement is needed. The Interlock Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most homes can install aluminum metal roofing directly over their existing asphalt shingles without adding support beams or trusses. This also means faster installation and lower labor costs. Dayton's 107 cm annual snowfall load is easily managed by the lightweight design combined with the four-way interlocking system's load distribution, so your existing framing stays untouched.

How long does it take to install a metal roof in Dayton?

Installation typically spans 2–5 days depending on roof size and complexity. Because aluminum panels can install directly over existing asphalt shingles, there's no tear-off and no landfill haul-away, which saves time and cost. The interlocking system speeds up panel placement—installers align and click panels together rather than nailing individual shingles. Interlock Metal Roofing has served this region since 2001 and handles both tear-off installations and over-lay applications. Local weather is factored in; most work happens during Dayton's drier months outside the heavy snow season.

Is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Aluminum is about 95% recyclable, so when the roof eventually reaches end-of-life (in 50+ years), it returns to the aluminum supply chain rather than a landfill. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, tear off and decompose over decades in landfills. The lightweight design also means fewer installation trucks and lower transportation energy. CALGreen verification confirms the reduced maintenance needs—no sealing, patching, or frequent tear-offs like asphalt requires. Over a 50-year lifespan, the aluminum roof eliminates multiple tear-off cycles and their associated waste.

What does the warranty on an Interlock metal roof cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once to the next owner with 50 years remaining from completion. This means Dayton buyers gain serious peace of mind: no gradual degradation coverage gaps like asphalt warranties impose. The coating itself is separately warranted for 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214). Combined with freeze-thaw durability and the self-healing oxide layer, you're looking at a genuine multi-decade roof.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in Dayton summers?

Yes, if you choose energy-efficient colors. These carry thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning they reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs and radiates into the attic. With about 3066 annual sunshine hours in Dayton, this reflectance compounds across the year. Cool Roof Rating Council testing confirms the difference: reflective metal roofs keep attics cooler, which reduces air-conditioning runtime and lowers summer utility bills. The effect is most dramatic on south and west-facing slopes, but benefits the whole home by reducing overall cooling load.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof need?

Virtually none. Unlike wood shakes (which split and rot in Dayton's 90 annual freeze-thaw days), asphalt (which requires resealing every 3–5 years), or clay tile (which cracks and leaks), aluminum needs no coating renewal, patching, or preventive treatment. Occasional gutter cleaning and debris removal are the only tasks. The self-healing oxide layer plus the 30-year Alunar® coating mean the roof itself stays protected without maintenance input from you. This is why CALGreen verification specifically recognizes metal roofing for reduced maintenance—saving time and money across the roof's life.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Dayton’s climate?

Yes. Dayton averages about 107 cm of snow, 759 mm of rain, roughly 90 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 91 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
