What our customers are saying:
Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI
I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.
Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.
We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.
The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!
First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!
Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.
Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.
We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.
In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!
We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.
The Interlock crew was able to take some extra time to coordinate with another contractor for solar installation. As a result, the final the result looks great and very functional. The materials used are very high quality, and they worked efficiently and cleaned up when finished.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Utica
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Utica, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Utica.
How does a metal roof handle Utica's heavy snow load and freeze-thaw cycles?
Metal roofs shed snow more effectively than asphalt because the smooth aluminum surface and thermal properties prevent ice dams that trap moisture. Utica receives about 100 cm of snow annually alongside roughly 76 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels remain dimensionally stable through repeated freezing and thawing; the aluminum alloy (ASTM B209, 3105-H24) won't split or cup like wood or brittle materials. Snow guards can be added if desired, and the lightweight design (Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural strain even under deep snow.
Why won't my metal roof rust like steel roofing does?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that protects the underlying metal and actually heals itself when scratched. Utica's 746 mm of annual rainfall and occasional road salt exposure would devastate steel, but Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy is paired with a 30-year Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides of every panel. This dual-layer defense is why the product has been installed everywhere from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations since 1998.
Will my metal roof hold up to Wisconsin wind gusts?
Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), well above Utica's typical gust patterns of around 108 km/h. The interlocking system means each panel is mechanically fastened to its neighbors, preventing uplift even in severe weather. The design achieves this without loose fasteners that corrode or work loose over time. Whether you face spring squalls, summer thunderstorms, or winter gales, the panels remain locked in place, and your warranty covers wind damage when installed to specification.
Can a metal roof help lower my homeowner's insurance premium?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That combination often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because aluminum doesn't dent, crack, or lose impact resistance the way asphalt, wood shakes, or clay tiles do. In Utica, where severe weather can strike suddenly, a proven impact rating backed by a non-prorated lifetime warranty gives you documented evidence of durability for your insurer. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and ESR-1790 code compliance to explore available savings.
Does a metal roof really save energy in a cold climate like Wisconsin?
Yes, especially in summer and during sunny winter days. Interlock offers energy-efficient colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning the roof reflects heat that asphalt absorbs and converts to attic warmth. Utica receives approximately 3,105 sunshine hours per year—plenty of opportunity to reduce cooling costs on warm days. In winter, the reflective finish minimizes the temperature differential between roof and snow, reducing the melt-refreeze cycle that triggers ice dams. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measurable energy performance, and lighter colors further reduce summer cooling loads.
Does a metal roof need expensive structural reinforcement?
No. Interlock aluminum roofing is extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This weight advantage means no structural reinforcement is required, and the roof installs directly over most existing asphalt or wood shake systems without adding stress to your home's framing. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms compliance with building codes without special engineering. Compared to slate or traditional tile, you eliminate the structural upgrades that typically cost thousands of dollars, and the lightweight design actually reduces the overall load your home carries through Wisconsin's freeze-thaw seasons.
How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?
Installation typically requires 2 to 5 days depending on roof size and complexity. Interlock's lightweight design (Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft) means most existing asphalt roofs require no removal or structural work—the new roof fastens directly over the old deck, saving labor and landfill costs. A solid deck and underlayment are installed to specification, creating a moisture barrier and sound-dampening layer. Your local Interlock installer, serving the region since 2001, will assess your deck during the initial site visit and provide a timeline and quote tailored to your home. The faster installation and no-tear-off approach also minimizes disruption to your daily life.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. Interlock's aluminum panels won't rot, split, crack, curl, or become brittle from Utica's 76 annual freeze-thaw days or 100 cm of snow. Unlike asphalt, there are no granules to lose, no algae blooming in humid spells, and no shingles to replace after 15–20 years. Wood shakes demand annual inspection and treatment. Ceramic or clay tiles can crack or slip. Aluminum simply sheds rain and snow, develops no rust or corrosion, and the 30-year Alunar coating resists chalking and fading by design. Periodic inspection of fasteners and flashing is standard practice for any roof, but material degradation is essentially off your to-do list.
What does the Guardian Warranty actually cover and how long does it last?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. Non-prorated means you don't pay a percentage of repair costs—the warranty simply covers defects. It's also one-time transferable, meaning the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from the completion date, which adds appeal if you sell. The 30-year Alunar coating is separately warranted against chalking and fading, measured by ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards. Combined with the lightweight aluminum's inherent stability through Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles, this warranty structure reflects the manufacturer's confidence in the product's durability.
Is metal roofing really more sustainable than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Interlock aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, meaning your roof doesn't become landfill waste. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are torn off every 15–20 years and dumped; Utica's 746 mm of annual rainfall and 100 cm of snow stress asphalt faster than in drier climates, creating more frequent replacement cycles. Aluminum roofing lasts decades without replacement, eliminating the tear-off and haul-away process. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy is infinitely recyclable without degradation, so when your roof eventually does reach end of life, it can be melted and reformed rather than incinerated. CALGreen verification confirms the reduced maintenance burden. Choosing a roof designed to last your lifetime and beyond is the most sustainable building decision you can make.
