Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: April 16, 2026Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Resident at the home was dissatisfied with the clean up as a mess was left on the deck area.

Review: September 27, 2023Completion: August 29, 2023

It's too early to tell. The roof looks good and has held up against rain for one month. Scheduling the project was very challenging. It took lots of pushing and back and forth to establish a two week window, months out, for the installation. It took from October until August the next year from start to finish. This most likely wouldn't be an issue for most people, but my roof was already leaking and my work schedule is abnormal. The installation team was excellent. Nice people, clear interactions and expectations.

Review: July 27, 2023Completion: May 22, 2023

The crew did a very good job. They were very cordial and answered all my questions very well. The timeframe for when it was going to be completed fell short of my expectations. I don't know if they can do anything about it, but we are still getting remnants from when they cut. I just picked up another piece today. When they are cutting, they are probably leaving those things on the roof somewhere, and eventually they blow down and are sharp. I worry about people walking on them.

Review: June 8, 2023Completion: April 30, 2023

The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Review: May 9, 2023Completion: March 24, 2023

They can improve their communication after signing the contract with a salesperson. There were a few months where I didn't have a direct contact to check in for materials during the timeframe of the project because I had a couple of projects going on at the same time with the solar panels being installed. It all worked out, but I think that would be an area to improve in. It looks beautiful, and I love it!

Review: October 26, 2022Completion: October 17, 2022

The communication could be improved, as well as the follow-up. I wonder how responsive they will be in the future. Their work was amazing but the communication wasn't. Communication was very poor, but the roof is amazing and its quality good.

Better communication around delays in start date. I would have been find with delays if they were transparent and kept to date as we passed what we were told multiple times.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Woodvale

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Woodvale, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Woodvale.

How does a metal roof handle Woodvale's heavy snow load and ice dams?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice effectively because the smooth, hard surface prevents adhesion and the overlapped seams channel meltwater away from vulnerable areas. Woodvale receives about 98 cm of snow annually with roughly 81 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that crack asphalt and wood shingles but leave aluminum unaffected. The lightweight design (Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, and the panels' interlocking geometry prevents wind-driven snow infiltration during gusts reaching 97 km/h. Optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer to retain snow for insulation.

Will a metal roof survive Woodvale's 81 annual freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw climates because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, splitting, or absorbing moisture. Unlike asphalt shingles (which become brittle) or wood shakes (which split), aluminum's crystal structure handles the stress of Woodvale's roughly 81 freeze-thaw days per year without degradation. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both panel sides resists salt-air corrosion and weathering over the full 30-year warranty period, and the self-healing oxide layer renews protection if the finish is scratched during installation. This resilience is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-spray environments to Antarctica since 1998.

Why can't an aluminum metal roof rust like steel roofing?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes when exposed to oxygen and water. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a transparent oxide layer that stops further corrosion and actually self-heals when scratched, sealing new damage automatically. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloys (ASTM B209) are paired with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, providing extra protection in Woodvale's 760 mm annual rainfall. This dual-layer defense means your roof will never develop rust stains, rust-through holes, or the structural failure that steel roofs eventually face—a critical advantage in regions with frequent moisture and freeze-thaw stress.

Does Interlock Metal Roofing have hail protection in Wisconsin, and could it lower my insurance?

Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, meaning your coverage remains intact even in severe hail events. This exceptional durability frequently qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification and ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report (reissued 2025) to explore savings. Woodvale's climate involves strong wind gusts (up to 97 km/h) and moisture that can accompany severe weather, so the non-prorated lifetime limited warranty covering impact loss of resistance provides genuine peace of mind—your roof won't degrade under repeated weather stress like asphalt shingles do.

Will an Interlock metal roof help cool my home during Wisconsin summers?

energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (in Aged Copper Penny), reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs and reducing cooling load. Over Woodvale's 3,073 annual sunshine hours, this reflectivity difference compounds—your attic and upper floors stay noticeably cooler without air conditioning strain. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measurable energy savings, and the lightweight aluminum installation (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) allows efficient ventilation under the panels. While Wisconsin winters are long, the summer cooling benefit, combined with the roof's longevity eliminating future replacement energy costs, supports meaningful lifetime energy efficiency.

Can an Interlock metal roof withstand Wisconsin wind gusts?

Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification—well above Woodvale's typical gusts of 97 km/h. The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors on all four edges, creating a unified system that distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than failing at isolated fasteners like shingle roofs. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation (reissued 2025) confirms code compliance for wind uplift in high-wind zones. This engineering means that spring and winter storms—common in Dane County—pose no threat to your roof's integrity, and you'll never experience the localized liftoff or missing-panel problems that plague asphalt roofs in gusty conditions.

What exactly does Interlock's Guardian Warranty cover, and for how long?

The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—meaning claims don't diminish over time. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion, a major selling point if you ever sell your Woodvale home. This warranty depth reflects the fundamental durability of roofing-grade aluminum: it doesn't degrade like asphalt, won't split like wood shakes, and won't corrode like steel. Combined with the 30-year Alunar coating warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244), your roof protection extends far beyond the 20-25 year life of conventional shingles, making it genuinely your last roof purchase.

What metal roofing profiles does Interlock offer for homes in Woodvale?

Interlock manufactures five distinct profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—so you can choose the aesthetic that matches your home's architecture without compromising durability. Each profile interlocks identically, offering the same four-way panel security, Class A fire availability, and UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating, so your choice is purely visual. The Slate profile suits colonial and contemporary homes, Cedar Shingle and Shake replicate traditional wood aesthetics (without wood's splitting under Woodvale's 81 freeze-thaw cycles), the Mediterranean Tile evokes European charm, and Standing Seam delivers a modern, clean line. Since all profiles are manufactured from the same roofing-grade aluminum alloy with the same Alunar 70% PVDF finish, you're selecting the look you love while getting proven, consistent performance.

Is a metal roof heavy enough to need expensive structural reinforcement?

No—the opposite. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, so no structural reinforcement is required and the roof installs directly over most existing roofing. Even the heavier Shake profile (0.58 lb/sq ft) is negligible compared to traditional materials, meaning your home's framing remains unchanged and installation costs stay low. This light weight also means your existing structure actually experiences less long-term stress, reducing settlement and extending the life of foundation components. Contrast this with slate tile or concrete barrel tile, which demand expensive rafter upgrades—Interlock's aluminum engineering eliminates that burden while delivering comparable or superior aesthetics.

Is there a local Interlock Metal Roofing installer serving Woodvale and Dane County?

Yes, Interlock Metal Roofing has served this region since 2001, bringing 24+ years of local installation expertise to Woodvale and surrounding Dane County communities. Our local team understands the specific demands of Wisconsin's 98 cm annual snowfall, 81 freeze-thaw cycles, and wind gusts up to 97 km/h—conditions that shaped how we design fastener patterns, panel overlap, and drainage for maximum durability. From initial consultation through final inspection, working with a local installer means faster response times, familiarity with permit processes, and accountability rooted in your community. We're equipped to handle the ICC-ES ESR-1790 installation specifications that validate your roof's performance, and we can discuss insurance documentation for your UL 2218 Class 4 rating.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Woodvale’s climate?

Yes. Woodvale averages about 98 cm of snow, 760 mm of rain, roughly 81 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 97 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
