Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.

Review: May 16, 2017

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!

Review: May 16, 2017

First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.

Review: May 16, 2017

We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.

In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!

Review: April 25, 2017

We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.

The Interlock crew was able to take some extra time to coordinate with another contractor for solar installation. As a result, the final the result looks great and very functional. The materials used are very high quality, and they worked efficiently and cleaned up when finished.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Greystone

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Greystone, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Greystone.

How does metal roofing handle Greystone's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far better than asphalt, which traps moisture and accelerates deterioration in freeze-thaw conditions. Greystone experiences about 120 cm of snow annually and roughly 81 freeze-thaw days per year—the exact conditions that cause asphalt to crack, curl, and fail. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels remain dimensionally stable through these cycles; the non-porous aluminum won't absorb the water that expands when frozen. Optional snow guards are available to control runoff. The Guardian warranty explicitly covers cracking and curling, which don't occur with this material.

Why can't aluminum roofing rust like steel roofs?

Aluminum contains no iron, so rust is chemically impossible. Steel roofs develop iron oxide (rust) when moisture reaches bare metal; aluminum forms a thin oxide layer that actually protects the underlying material and self-heals when scratched. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209, coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish. This dual-side protection is critical in climates like Greystone with 760 mm annual rainfall. The Guardian warranty covers rusting—a promise that makes sense only because it cannot happen. Steel roofs require constant vigilance; aluminum eliminates that entire failure mode.

Can my house structure handle a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?

No reinforcement needed. Interlock Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and Mediterranean Tile—which replicates heavy clay or concrete tile—weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than the real material. Most homes can support this load on existing framing. Interlock installs directly over your current roof in many cases, eliminating costly tear-off and structural work. The four-way interlocking panels distribute weight evenly across rafters. An ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms code compliance under IBC/IRC standards. This weight advantage saves thousands in foundation and framing costs compared to slate or tile alternatives.

Will a metal roof blow off in Greystone's wind and storms?

No. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Greystone's typical wind gusts reach about 97 km/h (60 mph), well below that threshold. The panels lock together mechanially—each sheet grips its neighbors on all four edges—so they function as a unified system rather than individual shingles. UL testing validates this performance under extreme conditions. The warranty explicitly covers wind resistance, and the Guardian coverage includes loss of impact resistance from weather events. This integrated locking system is engineered for regions with regular gust exposure like yours.

Does Greystone's hail risk affect metal roof claims or cost?

Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This superior hail resistance may qualify you for insurance discounts that offset material cost. Aluminum's hardness resists denting far better than asphalt or wood, and any surface marks don't compromise the roof's integrity. Because hail damage claims are rare with Class 4 rated roofs, insurers often reduce premiums significantly. Speak with your agent about these potential savings before installation. The combination of proven impact performance and warranty coverage makes metal roofing a low-risk choice in hail-prone regions.

How much upkeep does a metal roof really need?

Virtually none compared to asphalt or wood. Aluminum doesn't rot, split, curl, or crack—it has no granules to shed, no tar to break down, and no wood fibers to degrade. Greystone's 3,073 annual sunshine hours and 81 freeze-thaw days cause asphalt to fail; aluminum remains inert through these cycles. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, so color stays true far longer than asphalt. Occasional leaf removal and gutter cleaning suffice. The Guardian warranty covers the material itself, not maintenance tasks, because the material simply doesn't degrade the way traditional roofing does. Over a 50-year lifespan, maintenance costs approach zero.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?

Installation timelines depend on roof size and existing conditions, but Interlock's lightweight design (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) allows direct installation over most current asphalt roofs without tear-off. Removing old roofing is expensive and creates landfill waste; applying new metal directly saves time and cost. Our local team, serving Greystone since 2001, assesses each home and determines the best approach. The four-way interlocking system installs efficiently—panels lock together on-site with no fasteners visible. Pitch, roof geometry, and existing condition affect timeline. Contact our local installer for a site evaluation and specific timeline estimate. Many homes complete installation within days rather than weeks.

Does metal roofing actually cut cooling costs in summer?

Yes, if you choose energy-efficient colors. Interlock's reflective finishes achieve thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny). These surfaces bounce heat away rather than absorbing it, reducing cooling load in summer and lowering energy bills. Cool Roof Rating Council certification validates this performance. Greystone's 3,073 annual sunshine hours means significant summer solar gain; reflective roofing directly reduces air-conditioning demand. Dark asphalt absorbs heat and radiates it into the attic, heating your home even with ventilation. Metal roofing with high solar reflectance keeps attics cooler. The energy savings over decades often exceed the material cost difference, especially in combination with modern insulation.

Is metal roofing actually more environmentally responsible than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable; at end of life, it has scrap value and returns to manufacturing loops indefinitely without degradation. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are removed every 15–25 years and sent to landfills by the millions of tons annually. Over Greystone's 81 freeze-thaw days and 760 mm rainfall yearly, asphalt lifespans are short; you'll tear off and discard multiple layers in your home's lifetime. Metal roofing eliminates this waste cycle. One Interlock installation replaces multiple asphalt generations, consuming no new petroleum-based materials and producing no construction waste. The non-prorated Guardian lifetime warranty reinforces durability—this roof stays on your home for 50+ years, not in a dump after 20. Aluminum's recyclability and longevity make it the genuinely sustainable choice.

Is metal roofing fire-safe for Wisconsin homes?

Yes. Interlock aluminum qualifies for Class A fire classification—non-combustible material that meets the highest fire-safety standards. Aluminum cannot ignite or contribute to flame spread, unlike wood shakes or asphalt. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms compliance with IBC/IRC fire codes for residential construction. Wisconsin's building standards require fire-rated materials in high-risk areas; metal roofing satisfies these requirements without compromise. Homeowner insurance providers often recognize Class A ratings and may offer premium reductions. The material itself acts as a fire barrier—it won't burn, melt, or release flammable gases. If wildfire or neighborhood fire risk concerns you, metal roofing provides definitive protection and peace of mind that wood or asphalt cannot match.
