Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Brentwood, British Columbia
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
I recently had my 25 year old asphalt roof replaced with an Interlock Metal roof. I'm so very happy with my decision. In fact, best decision ever to have Interlock Industries install. The metal roof is manufactured in Delta, BC and they have their own installers. It's not panels! It looks very much like a cedar roof! Colour is awesome as well! My home is located in Victoria on Vancouver Island and looks great with my new roof! Interlock is a very professional business from contract signing to installation. Amazing crew that gets the job done in a timely manner. My roof looks fabulous. It's a work of art!!
We have invested not only our money but your promise. Please make sure to deliver your promises.
The workmanship and quality exceeded my expectation. Last summer, we had power outages for 3 days without AC in an extreme hot day, I realized how cool the roof is, the fully double insulations under the metal slate keep the house so cool, we don't think we need AC anymore. It must save a lot on energy bills. Thank you for Interlock Metal Roofing
Wonderful to work with, very professional and have a great product I do not think there is any improvements, in my case, Mike, Todd and the crew were professional, the product is fantastic , all were great to work with. Thank you for doing my roof. I would recamend interlock to any one who want a life time quality roof with great people representing the company and product
So far very satisfied, however, we have not experienced any inclement weather since installation!
Good materials, service and communication need improvements. Homeowners need peace of mind for the entire rooftops, not just the roofing materials. Anything that links to it should be discussed and made aware of. They may only have experienced once and the roofing company deals with it every day. Sales person needs to do what they said otherwise don’t say it. Operation manager needed support as it had derailed his responsibility. The understaff caused improper service. Interlock is experienced in roofing, they should point out that there may be cost associated with other components I.e. plywood, gutters. This is the most disappointing experience with Interlock team. The edge installed has the gaps throughout and the new gutters are needed so that the gaps can be properly sealed. With the pricy roof, we don’t only expect the great quality materials, but also great services and thoughtful advice for the entire roofing.
It looks beautiful and we get positive comments from people we know and strangers alike.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Brentwood
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Brentwood, British Columbia. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Brentwood.
Will a metal roof handle Brentwood's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum's smooth, interlocking surface sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt, reducing ice dam risk during Brentwood's roughly 37 freeze-thaw days per year. The panels' four-way interlock prevents water infiltration even under the 152 cm of annual snow the region receives. Unlike wood shake or concrete tile, aluminum won't crack from repeated freezing, and its lightweight design (the Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft) means no structural strain from accumulated loads. Snow guards can be added if you prefer snow retention for aesthetic reasons.
Why won't my metal roof rust in Metro Vancouver's damp climate?
Interlock panels are made from 3105-H24 aluminum alloy, which contains zero iron—the element that causes rust. Instead, aluminum forms a thin oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, offering natural corrosion protection in wet climates. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, applied to both sides of each panel and warranted 30 years against chalking, adds a second defense against Brentwood's 2471 mm of annual rainfall. Steel roofs require paint touch-ups; aluminum simply doesn't corrode, making it ideal for this region's persistent moisture.
How do metal roof panels stay watertight in heavy rain?
The four-way interlocking design creates a continuous, overlapped barrier that sheds water downslope faster than shingles can absorb it. Brentwood's 2471 mm annual rainfall is handled by gravity alone—no sealant degradation or joint failure because the panels mechanically interlock rather than relying on caulk. Installed over solid decking with underlayment, the roof system mirrors asphalt-shingle leak protection but without the single-point-of-failure vulnerability of individual shingle fasteners. Proper installation per ESR-1790 specifications ensures water always finds a downslope path.
Can a metal roof withstand Brentwood's winter wind gusts?
Absolutely. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Brentwood's typical wind gusts reach about 95 km/h, well within that tolerance. The mechanical interlock—not fasteners alone—distributes wind load across adjacent panels, so gusts cannot lift or separate individual sheets. This engineering also means the roof performs consistently whether gusts are steady or sudden, giving you reliable protection through the region's windier seasons without the fastener creep or edge uplift that can occur with traditional roofing.
Is a metal roof fire-safe for my Brentwood home?
Yes. Interlock aluminum panels achieve Class A fire classification because aluminum is non-combustible—it will not ignite or spread flame. The coating is also non-flammable, so the entire assembly resists fire from both the roof surface and from flying embers. This is a particular advantage in regions prone to wildfire smoke, and it qualifies the roof for Class A fire-rating insurance credits in many policies. Metal roofing is the only option among slate replicas that guarantees a non-combustible installation, offering genuine peace of mind for your home's safety.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is required. The Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than genuine slate, concrete, or clay tile. Your existing roof framing—built to support asphalt shingles plus snow load—easily carries the aluminum system. In fact, the lightweight design is a major advantage in Brentwood, where 152 cm of snow per year can already stress older framing. Many homeowners install metal over their existing roof, saving thousands in tear-off costs. Your contractor will assess your specific structure, but most homes see no reinforcement needed.
What does the Interlock warranty actually cover?
The Guardian warranty covers your roof for a lifetime against rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. For the original owner, this is a non-prorated material warranty—you never pay more as the roof ages. If you sell, the warranty transfers once and gives the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. Brentwood's climate, with roughly 2471 mm of rain and 37 freeze-thaw days annually, is exactly why lifetime coverage matters: you're protected against every moisture-related failure for as long as you own the home. This transforms your roof from an expense into a permanent asset.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal requires virtually no maintenance. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade yearly in Brentwood's 2471 mm rainfall and need patching or replacement every 15-20 years, aluminum panels don't crack, curl, or lose granules. Unlike cedar shake, which splits and rots in the region's 37 annual freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum is immune to moisture damage. Occasional gutter cleaning is standard for any roof. The Alunar coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning you won't pressure-wash, re-seal, or repaint. Over a 40-year horizon, this difference alone often covers the metal roof's upfront cost.
Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable—it holds value as scrap metal and never enters a landfill. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, shed 11 million tons annually to North American landfills and cannot be reused. Over Brentwood's 2471 mm rainfall and variable freeze-thaw conditions, asphalt roofs typically fail in 15-20 years, requiring tear-off and disposal. A metal roof installs once and recycles at end of life, eliminating the repeat tear-off cycle. The lightweight aluminum also means one installation truck replaces what would need several for slate or tile, lowering embodied carbon. If environmental responsibility matters to you, metal closes the loop.
