I recently had my 25 year old asphalt roof replaced with an Interlock Metal roof. I'm so very happy with my decision. In fact, best decision ever to have Interlock Industries install. The metal roof is manufactured in Delta, BC and they have their own installers. It's not panels! It looks very much like a cedar roof! Colour is awesome as well! My home is located in Victoria on Vancouver Island and looks great with my new roof! Interlock is a very professional business from contract signing to installation. Amazing crew that gets the job done in a timely manner. My roof looks fabulous. It's a work of art!!

Review: April 13, 2024 Completion: February 28, 2014

The workmanship and quality exceeded my expectation. Last summer, we had power outages for 3 days without AC in an extreme hot day, I realized how cool the roof is, the fully double insulations under the metal slate keep the house so cool, we don't think we need AC anymore. It must save a lot on energy bills. Thank you for Interlock Metal Roofing

Thank you for doing my roof. I would recamend interlock to any one who want a life time quality roof with great people representing the company and product

So far very satisfied, however, we have not experienced any inclement weather since installation!

Review: July 16, 2023 Completion: June 20, 2023

Good materials, service and communication need improvements. Homeowners need peace of mind for the entire rooftops, not just the roofing materials. Anything that links to it should be discussed and made aware of. They may only have experienced once and the roofing company deals with it every day. Sales person needs to do what they said otherwise don’t say it. Operation manager needed support as it had derailed his responsibility. The understaff caused improper service. Interlock is experienced in roofing, they should point out that there may be cost associated with other components I.e. plywood, gutters. This is the most disappointing experience with Interlock team. The edge installed has the gaps throughout and the new gutters are needed so that the gaps can be properly sealed. With the pricy roof, we don’t only expect the great quality materials, but also great services and thoughtful advice for the entire roofing.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Capitol Hill

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Capitol Hill, British Columbia. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Capitol Hill.

How does a metal roof handle Capitol Hill's snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum's smooth surface sheds snow and ice far more efficiently than asphalt, preventing the ice dams that form in the region's 37 freeze-thaw days per year. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, so they stay secure even when snow loads shift. Capitol Hill receives about 120 cm of snow annually; metal's low friction means less weight stress on your structure and no rot risk from trapped moisture—a critical advantage in a climate that also gets 2471 mm of rain yearly.

Why won't my metal roof rust, especially near the coast?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal when scratched. Our 3105-H24 aluminum alloy is coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon—a 30-year warranted finish specifically applied to both surfaces for extra defense in salt-air environments. This dual-coating approach means Capitol Hill's maritime moisture and the region's 2788 annual sunshine hours won't degrade your roof the way they corrode steel or expose asphalt's fiberglass mat.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the life of my home?

A metal roof is the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years and requires frequent repairs; Interlock's Guardian Warranty covers your roof for life as the original owner, then transfers 50 years to the next—a 70-year protection span. Over Capitol Hill's wet climate of 2471 mm annual rain, avoiding repeated tear-offs, underlayment replacements, and storm damage claims adds up fast. Plus, our current promotion offers interest-free payments for 3 months and saves at least $2499, making the true installed cost lower than most homeowners expect.

What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited warranty covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for the original owner—no time limit. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, giving your home two generations of protection. The Alunar coating itself is separately warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. In a region experiencing 152 cm of snow, 37 freeze-thaw cycles, and gusts to 95 km/h annually, this transferable coverage means genuine peace of mind and resale confidence.

Can my roof frame handle a metal roof, or do I need expensive reinforcement?

No structural reinforcement is needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, installs at only 0.59 lb per square foot—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Even the Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft. This means Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs, eliminating costly structural work. Capitol Hill's 120 cm annual snowfall might concern you with a heavy material, but aluminum's featherweight design actually reduces snow-load stress compared to asphalt-plus-underlayment systems, and it won't require additional joists or bracing.

Will my metal roof blow off in Capitol Hill's storms?

No. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Capitol Hill's typical gusts reach 95 km/h, with rare extremes higher—well within the roof's rated capacity. The interlocking design distributes wind force across multiple panels, and each locks to its neighbors on all four sides. This engineering, verified by ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790, means your roof won't lift or separate even during the region's strongest wind events.

Will my metal roof leak in Capitol Hill's heavy rainfall?

Heavy rainfall and proper drainage are the only real leak risks; Interlock's overlapping, four-way interlocking panels shed water by design, and the system is rated and code-approved for the 2471 mm of rain Capitol Hill receives annually. Our local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (BC) Ltd., has served the region since 1983 and ensures every panel is sealed and fastened to specification. When installed correctly over an existing deck with standard underlayment, the solid substrate beneath stops water penetration the same way asphalt does—but without asphalt's tendency to crack in freeze-thaw cycles or pool water in valleys.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?

Far less. Metal requires no roof coating, resealing, or shingle replacement. Unlike asphalt, it won't crack, curl, or lose granules during Capitol Hill's 37 annual freeze-thaw days. Unlike wood, it won't split or rot in 2471 mm of yearly rain. Unlike clay tile, it won't break from hail. Routine maintenance is simply keeping gutters clear—the same task any roof demands. The ICC-ES verified CALGreen rating recognizes metal roofing's reduced maintenance burden, and the Alunar 70% PVDF finish stays color-stable for 30 years, so you won't repaint or re-coat.

Does a metal roof improve my home's fire safety?

Yes. Interlock aluminum roofing achieves non-combustible Class A fire classification, the highest available. Aluminum itself is non-flammable and won't contribute to fire spread. In regions where wildfire risk or building codes emphasize fire resistance, this rating is a significant advantage—and increasingly, insurers recognize this and offer premium discounts. Combined with the roof's durability through 2788 annual sunshine hours and 152 cm of snow, you get a system that resists both fire and weather damage, backed by ICC-ES code approval (ESR-1790) for residential and commercial installations.

Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, shake, or tile?

Yes. Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each uses four-way interlocking aluminum panels to replicate traditional material textures and shadows. The Mediterranean Tile, for example, weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft yet delivers the authentic dimensional appearance of clay tile without the brittle fragility—crucial in a climate that sees UL 2218 Class 4 hail impacts and 37 freeze-thaw cycles yearly. All profiles come in energy-efficiency colors and are available in your choice of finish. Interlock Metal Roofing (BC) Ltd. can show samples and discuss which profile matches your home's style.
