There is one of the cap shingles has come off and they are slow to come and fix it but say they will, that was about 2 weeks ago

The timeline was a little bit longer than what we expected. The cleanup wasn't perfect and part of that might have been due to the fact that I have a number of gardens around the house and maybe you can't see the debris in them.

It's a very beautiful roof. Working during daylight hours. They didn't have much light when they worked after dusk. Apparently they forgot their brighter headlights in another vehicle. My roof looks very nice. I wish your company did eavestroughs, soffits, and fascia too.

From our initial consultation at our home with Carter and Brian (VP) to the installation we couldn’t be happier. When Brian gave us his personal cell phone number that did it for me. If the VP of a company gives you his personal cell phone number, that speaks volumes to the confidence he has in his products. Carter came back a second time to put our minds at ease with our colour selection. Our installation crew was amazing! Maurice and Brian are top-notch gentlemen who did an amazing job. Having a pool, I was concerned about nails and other debris ending up in it. Well, there was absolutely nothing in my pool. You could tell they took pride in the work they did because they took pictures of themselves in front of our home when it was complete. They seemed proud of the job they did. Maurice kept saying it has to be done right the first time because they don’t want to come back (although they are always welcome to stop by for a visit if they are in the area). We were initially concerned that the roof might be louder when it rains, but it’s actually quieter. Our daughter used to wake up through the night when it rained but now she sleeps right through. It could be because they were able to go right over the existing asphalt shingles which also reduces landfill waste. I never thought I would get compliments on a roof. People " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and say it looks great. When I pull up to my home I say wow that roof looks good! It’s a premium roof at a premium price, but one shot and you are done.

Review: November 15, 2021 Completion: July 15, 2019

My next door neighbour had his installed prior to us and we decided to research metal roofing far and wide. We had to do it since our asphalt roofing was terrible and we were part of a class action lawsuit that was going very slowly. We decided on Interlock and are totally pleased with the quality, timing, workmanship, and attention to details of the company and its friendly installers. Although we had a few minor issues deciding on the installation preparation and with the post-installation within the first 6 months, the Interlock staff member was most responsive and remedied the issues. Being a real estate Broker, I know this has given us an ROI much higher than with a standard roof shingle installation - and gives us a lifetime of no worries. We decided to add a larger eaves and drainage system as well as eaves screens b/c of the nature of the roof. Even our mail delivery person cited that the roof "popped" when he came down the street. I have also recommended Interlock to others. Thanks go to the team approach on this renovation. More supervisors visits while the job was being done. There where no visitors from the company. None. I had to climb on my roof and instruct the installer. It’s been nearly a year and still no one has come by. This is what u call good business. Product is good but the experience not so good

So far so good. The product is as described during the sales demonstration and is living up to what was promised. Two years into its life and it looks like brand new. We did however have to install more snow blockers to slow down the snow sliding off the roof. Be sure to have sufficient snow stoppers when you have your roof installed. The roof looks great.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Elora

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Elora, Ontario. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Elora.

Does a metal roof handle Elora's snow load and ice dams better than asphalt?

Yes—aluminum's smooth, interlocking design sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, which traps moisture and promotes ice dam buildup. With about 107 cm of snow per year and roughly 88 freeze-thaw days, Elora homes face real ice risk. The four-way interlocking panels create a continuous surface that doesn't cup or curl, so snow slides cleanly rather than collecting in damaged spots. The warranty even covers hail up to 1.5 inches and wind gusts up to 120 mph, so winter weather won't compromise the seal. Your gutters stay clearer, and you avoid the repeated thaw-freeze damage that shortens asphalt shingles.

How does aluminum hold up to freeze-thaw cycling in Ontario winters?

Aluminum is immune to the freeze-thaw cracking that destroys asphalt and wood. Because aluminum contains no iron, it cannot rust, and its oxide layer self-heals when scratched—even after 88 freeze-thaw cycles per year in Elora. Unlike asphalt, which becomes brittle in cold and splits when moisture freezes inside, or wood shakes, which check and curl, roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without degradation. Add the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish warranted 30 years against fading, and your roof resists both the salt-air chemistry of coastal winters and the inland Ontario temperature swings. It's the last roof you'll install.

Can metal roofing rust? What about in a rainy climate like Elora's?

Interlock Metal Roofing is manufactured from roofing-grade aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), not steel—so it cannot rust, period. Steel rusts because iron oxidizes; aluminum oxidizes too, but the oxide layer is non-porous and self-heals when scratched. Elora receives about 779 mm of rain per year, but that moisture simply cannot corrode aluminum. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel, adding a 30-year-warranted protective barrier against chalking and fading. This dual-sided coating matters in damp climates because it guards both the visible surface and the underside exposed to condensation. Result: zero rust risk, zero corrosion, lifetime limited warranty on material for the original owner.

Will a metal roof blow off in Elora's windstorms?

No. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Elora's typical wind gusts reach about 115 km/h, so the roof is engineered well beyond local conditions. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides—not just nailed or glued—creating a unified system that distributes load across the entire roof plane rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation (reissued 2025) confirms this performance under IBC/IRC codes. Even in winter storms when Elora experiences peak gusts, the interlocking design keeps the roof secure. You won't wake up missing shingles or worrying about leaks.

Does aluminum roofing handle hail? Could I get an insurance discount?

Interlock Metal Roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium reductions for homes with Class 4 rated roofs because claim risk drops dramatically. Aluminum's strength and resilience mean hail simply doesn't dent, crack, or perforate the way asphalt shingles, wood, or concrete tile do. Check with your current insurer about discounts; many Elora homeowners discover their metal roof qualifies. Over a 50-year roof life, those premium savings add up. Combined with zero maintenance costs and the transferable 50-year warranty term that boosts resale value, the insurance benefit sweetens an already strong financial case.

Is metal roofing light enough to install over my existing roof without reinforcement?

Yes. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile, which visually rivals heavy concrete or clay tile, installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft and weighs about 96% less than real tile. This means no structural reinforcement is needed in almost every case, and the roof often installs directly over your existing shingles. Elora homes built on standard framing easily support this weight. You avoid the cost and disruption of a full tear-off and structural upgrades that come with slate, ceramic tile, or standing-seam steel alternatives. Because installation happens over the old roof, your home stays protected during the process, and disposal costs vanish. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms this lightweight performance, and you get a class A fire rating without added structural load.

Does metal roofing actually save energy in Ontario's climate?

energy-efficient colors with high solar reflectance reduce cooling costs by bouncing heat away rather than absorbing it like asphalt does. Elora averages about 2970 sunshine hours per year, so reflective coatings pay dividends across seasons. Select colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they reflect the sun's energy and emit heat efficiently—keeping your attic cooler in summer and reducing air conditioning load. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms this performance. Asphalt shingles absorb that same solar energy, raising attic temperatures 15-20°F higher. Over decades, your HVAC system runs less, utility bills drop, and you reduce your home's carbon footprint. It's passive cooling that works every sunny day.

How does the lifetime cost of a metal roof compare to asphalt over 50+ years?

A metal roof costs more upfront but becomes the last roof you buy—that's the financial reality. Asphalt shingles need replacement every 15-25 years; over 50 years, you install 2-3 asphalt roofs. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty for the original owner, plus the one-time transferable 50-year term for the next owner, means one installation lasts your ownership and beyond. Zero maintenance costs (no algae treatment, no moss removal, no missing-shingle repairs). No tear-off and landfill fees when it fails. Current regional promotion offers interest-free payments for 3 months and saves at least $2499 on installation. Factor in resale value (metal roofs boost buyer appeal and closing prices), potential insurance discounts, and energy savings from energy-efficiency reflectance, and the total cost of ownership is significantly lower than the asphalt cycle.

Is aluminum roofing more environmentally responsible than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, whereas asphalt shingles end up in landfills by the millions of tons annually. Because the roof lasts your lifetime (and transfers to the next owner for 50 years), there's no tear-off-to-landfill cycle every 15-25 years like asphalt requires. Elora's approximately 779 mm annual rainfall and 107 cm snow means moisture exposure is high, and asphalt degrades faster in this climate—triggering earlier replacement. Aluminum's durability eliminates that waste stream entirely. Interlock has been manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998 and installed worldwide from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station, proving longevity in extreme conditions. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance needs. Choosing aluminum means your roofing decision removes asphalt waste from the environment and keeps a durable material in service for 50+ years.

What maintenance does a metal roof actually need compared to asphalt or wood?

None—that's the advantage. Asphalt shingles require periodic inspection for damage, replacement of curled or missing shingles, algae treatment, and moss removal, especially in Elora's 779 mm annual rainfall. Wood shakes split, check, and rot, demanding regular replacement and protective treatments. Interlock aluminum resists all of that. The roofing-grade aluminum alloy cannot rot or split. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish (both sides) resists fading and chalking for 30 years and beyond. No fasteners loosen because the four-way interlocking panels lock mechanically, not just nailed. Gutters stay cleaner because the smooth surface sheds debris. Over 50+ years, you save thousands in maintenance labor and materials. The lifetime limited warranty covers material defects—rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling—so your only cost is peace of mind. Rinse it occasionally if you want; it'll outlast you regardless.
