Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Pomfret Center, Connecticut
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |

What our customers are saying:
Everybody was great to work with highly professional. Any underlying damage was all taken care of and we love the roof.
> We had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan Brown at the Mohegan Sun Home Show and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him how happy we are with our Interlock roof of ~20 years. We constantly receive compliments from people passing by on how beautiful it looks. Most of all, we appreciate the peace of mind it gives us—knowing we’ll never have to replace our roof, thanks to the lifetime warranty and guaranteed protection against leaks.
Jonathan was great help getting us all the information needed for the roof and what to expect, and the whole process. The installation was fast, the roofers were hard working and professional. The look of the metal roof is superb!
It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.
What a beautiful roof. We are so happy and now we have a forever roof. Thank you. Techs were great. Positive: Punctuality, Quality Services: Roof installation
Salesman was very courteous and polite. Straight forward no hype or fluff. Company kept constant contact, took care of the required building permits. Had the dumpster and materials delivered on time and removed quickly. The crew was phenomenal, polite courteous. Explained everything, and was very conscientious about their work. If the the nail didn't go in the way he liked he pulled it and did it right. Nailing was all done by hand. Roof has been great since no issues and still looks great. Over all very pleased and well worth the money.
Couldn’t have chosen a better product, it’s been 2 years since installation and have absolutely no issues. The house is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Speaking of winter it’s only a matter of hours after a snow storm that all the snow slides right off, no more ice dams and ice filled gutters. The installers were awesome had the entire roof done in a day and a half and cleaned up prior to leaving. We love our Interlock roof.
This letter has been a long time in coming. My husband and I had an Interlock Roof installed in November 2009 and have been meaning to tell you how pleased we are with the look of the new roof and the service provided by the installers ~ Nazaar and Vitality. We’ve gotten many questions and compliments from friends, neighbors and passersby. Both our home and detached garage needed to be re-roofed, with both requiring removal of the old roofing material and the installation of plywood before applying the Interlock product. We were originally told that it would take up to 2 weeks for the job to be completed. To our amazement, the job was completed within a week’s time and that included inclement weather! Nazaar and Vitaliy put in very long days, were very polite, honored their commitments and ALWAYS cleaned everything up before they left for the day. We have children and a dog and found not one nail in the yard after the job was completed. Based on this experience and a product that speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend an Interlock Roof!
I wish to thank " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">Interlock Industries, Inc. for a great roofing system. I'm 100% satisfied and it has a clean and beautiful look. It's great! It's wonderful to know the roof never need replacement again. I also wish to thank Bob Allen, Jerry and Paul McAllister for being so helpful in completing the work. I know this " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">roof system was right when we met Bob Allen the first time, he explained everything in detail. Everything he said was correct. The men who did the work were polite and respectiful, and were clean and neat in the work process. Thank you guys. I would recommend an Interlock Roof for every home, or any building and the long term ">cost is less than another roof system.
Sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner, but I just wanted to drop you a line on the excellent installation of my roof by Nazar and Sergei. They installed our roof in February and never let the harsh weather affect their attention to detail and their determination to do quality work. I was very fortunate to get these two Ukrainian gentlemen as my installers.
I am writing to tell you how much my wife and I are satisfied with our new roof from Interlock Roofing. Our old asphalt shingles were showing the effects of time both aesthetically and functionally. Most noticeably was the water mark on the living room ceiling that just kept growing with each passing rain. We certainly weren't looking forward to buying a new roof, since we were still paying for our wedding six months before, but knew we had to do something soon. I mentioned to Dawn that I had heard metal roofs were becoming popular because of how long they last; but she was concerned our home would look like a fast food restaurant, a factory, or even worse a tin roof barn. She made it clear that a modern looking metal roof would ruin the look of our 1860s vintage home. I said I thought I had seen a couple of years ago a house that was done with what I thought the sign said was metal but looked like shingles instead of ridged sheets she pictured. The problem was I couldn't remember the name of the roofer – just that they had an orange sign. A friend of our mentioned there was a Home Show coming up in Worchester and we figured it would be fun to look around and dream about improvements we could make. As we walked the aisles, I saw your familiar orange sign and product display booth. I said to Dawn look at this! This looks really nice – it looks just like " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate! Wouldn't that look really great on our house! Two weeks later, you explained what made Interlock Roofing different from other materials and the lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty helped us feel confident in making what was for us a major purchase decision. Although an Interlock roof might cost more initially, we think it is well worth it knowing we will never have to buy another roof for this home again. Your company and crews are great! A representative called to let us know materials were being delivered and when they arrived they were neatly stored out of the way until the work began. A supervisor called to let us know when the work would begin, and except for two days of rain which delayed their start, the job was completed within the estimated three days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and when the job was competed they raked up any pieces that may have been missed in the grass. The completed roof looks great and enhances the appearance of our home. We have had many people stop and compliment us on it and at least one had already installed an Interlock roof of their own. Should we ever move from this home in the future, one of the features we will look for is an Interlock roof or plan on upgrading to one in our new home as well.
Just wanted to let you know that we are very satisfied with the aluminum interlocking roof which was installed in July of 2005. It was amazing to us how quickly and efficiently your men worked in removing our old asphalt layers of roof and installing the new one. Needless to say, we were very impressed with their work as well as our new roof! Unfortunately, during installation of the roof, damage was done to the interior ceiling of our dining room. Interlock did respond and the damaged area was repaired in a timely manner. Unfortunately our existing ceilings are plaster and the repaired area was done in wallboard which simply do not match. In order for this to be repaired properly, the entire ceiling has to be repainted with a light texture. Whatever you can do to help rectify the pending repair to the interior ceiling would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Once again, thank you for offering us the opportunity to upgrade our home with an outstanding roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Pomfret Center
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Pomfret Center, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Pomfret Center.
Will a metal roof handle Pomfret Center's heavy snow loads without damage?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered for snow retention and shed ice safely without deformation. With about 90 cm of snow per year in your region, the lightweight design—Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft—means snow load stress is minimal compared to asphalt or traditional slate. The panels' interlocking geometry also prevents snow from sliding unpredictably, protecting gutters and landscaping below. When melting occurs during Pomfret's roughly 90 freeze-thaw days annually, aluminum's continuous oxide layer resists the micro-cracking that degrades asphalt shingles over repeated cycles.
How does aluminum hold up to Connecticut's freeze-thaw weather cycles?
Aluminum naturally outperforms materials that trap moisture and crack under expansion and contraction. With 90 freeze-thaw days per year in Windham County, wood shingles split and asphalt becomes brittle—but aluminum's oxide layer, which self-heals when scratched, prevents the water-absorption pathways that cause material failure. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading) bonds to both sides of each panel, sealing out moisture at the source. After 27 years in production since 1998, Interlock roofs installed across North America's harshest climates confirm aluminum's resilience through thousands of thaw cycles without cracking, curling, or loss of structural integrity.
Can a metal roof rust in Connecticut's wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, transparent oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath and self-repairs when scratched. In Pomfret Center, where you receive about 1098 mm of rain annually, this passive protection is critical: it means your roof won't weaken over decades like steel or iron would. The Alunar coating applied to both panel sides adds 30 years of warranted fade and chalk resistance, giving you dual protection. Homeowners in coastal salt-air environments and inland humid climates alike have chosen Interlock since 1998 precisely because aluminum eliminates the rust cycle that requires constant maintenance or early replacement.
Does a metal tile roof need expensive roof reinforcement?
No reinforcement required. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofing systems without structural modification. This is a major advantage in Pomfret Center, where retrofit costs can quickly eliminate tile's aesthetic appeal. Your home was built for asphalt's weight; Interlock Tile actually reduces structural burden while delivering tile's dimensional, upscale appearance. Installation is straightforward and faster than adding beams or bracing, meaning less labor cost and faster completion. Homeowners upgrading from aging asphalt appreciate that they avoid thousands in structural engineering and reinforcement.
Will metal roofing blow off in Pomfret Center's gusty weather?
No. Interlock's four-way interlocking design and 120 mph wind-speed warranty keep panels locked in place during Windham County's gusts—which average around 18 km/h daily but can exceed 121 km/h during storms. The interlocking system creates mechanical redundancy: each panel engages its neighbors on all four edges, so wind cannot lift or shift individual shingles the way it peels asphalt tabs. When installed to specification and properly fastened, the system resists uplift forces that would tear asphalt roofs apart. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms wind performance across building codes (IBC/IRC), and your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., has installed thousands of roofs since 1999 with no wind-related failures in the region.
Does hail damage metal roofing, and will my insurance recognize it?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest hail classification available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Most of New England's hail events fall well below this threshold. That Class 4 rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts (verify with your carrier), because impact resistance directly reduces claim likelihood. Unlike asphalt shingles, which show denting and permanent damage from moderate hail, aluminum's resilience means your roof absorbs impact and returns to shape. Over 2999 hours of annual sunshine in Pomfret Center, you'll see that durability firsthand—no cracked, missing, or punctured shingles. Interlock's hail protection is concrete (UL 2218), not marketing; many insurers recognize this and adjust your premiums accordingly.
Will a metal roof lower my cooling costs?
energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, reflecting the heat that asphalt absorbs. In Pomfret Center, where mean temperature is 10.3°C and you have about 3000 annual sunshine hours, summer cooling demands are moderate but still meaningful. Metal roofing's reflectivity reduces attic heat gain compared to dark asphalt, lowering air-conditioning run-time and cost. Lighter colors (Aged Copper Penny, for example) perform best. Combined with metal's air-sealing properties when installed over solid deck and underlayment, you'll notice lower summer utility bills. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating backs these performance claims—this is science-based efficiency, not speculation.
How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof really need?
Virtually none beyond occasional gutter cleaning. Aluminum does not rot, split, crack, curl, or require restaining like wood; it does not degrade under UV exposure the way asphalt shingles do (the Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against fading). In Pomfret Center's wet climate—about 1098 mm of rain annually—you won't deal with moss or algae growth that plagues asphalt. Snow and ice slide predictably off the smooth, slick surface, requiring no removal. You'll never replace flashing, patch leaks from shingle failure, or power-wash your roof to extend its life. Compare this to asphalt (resealing every 5–10 years), wood (annual staining), or ceramic tile (grout maintenance). The CALGreen verification confirms reduced-maintenance performance. This translates to real savings over the roof's 50+ year lifespan.
Can you install a metal roof over my existing shingles?
Yes, in most cases. Interlock's light weight—Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft—means installation directly over existing asphalt roofing is possible without structural reinforcement, saving thousands in tear-off and disposal costs. A solid decking substrate (plywood or OSB) and underlayment are installed first; then panels are fastened per the ICC-ES ESR-1790 specification. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., will assess your roof's condition and confirm suitability before proceeding. Typically, an overlay installation completes in days rather than weeks, minimizing disruption. This approach also avoids the environmental burden of landfilling old shingles. If structural concerns exist, your installer will recommend tear-off; either path is faster and cleaner than traditional roofing projects.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?
Yes, when you measure cost over the roof's lifespan. Asphalt requires replacement every 20–25 years, meaning two or three cycles in a 50+ year period. Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited for the original owner and transfers 50 years to the next owner, eliminating replacement cycles and the associated labor, disposal, and material costs. Maintenance spending on asphalt (resealing, repairs, eventual tear-off) totals thousands more. Over 50 years, metal roofing is lower total cost of ownership. Current financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—reduces the upfront barrier further. Your local installer can provide a detailed lifecycle cost comparison. Many homeowners view the metal roof as their final roof, a permanent asset that outlasts the mortgage.
