| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |

What our customers are saying:
Everybody was great to work with highly professional. Any underlying damage was all taken care of and we love the roof.
> We had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan Brown at the Mohegan Sun Home Show and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him how happy we are with our Interlock roof of ~20 years. We constantly receive compliments from people passing by on how beautiful it looks. Most of all, we appreciate the peace of mind it gives us—knowing we’ll never have to replace our roof, thanks to the lifetime warranty and guaranteed protection against leaks.
Jonathan was great help getting us all the information needed for the roof and what to expect, and the whole process. The installation was fast, the roofers were hard working and professional. The look of the metal roof is superb!
It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.
What a beautiful roof. We are so happy and now we have a forever roof. Thank you. Techs were great. Positive: Punctuality, Quality Services: Roof installation
Salesman was very courteous and polite. Straight forward no hype or fluff. Company kept constant contact, took care of the required building permits. Had the dumpster and materials delivered on time and removed quickly. The crew was phenomenal, polite courteous. Explained everything, and was very conscientious about their work. If the the nail didn't go in the way he liked he pulled it and did it right. Nailing was all done by hand. Roof has been great since no issues and still looks great. Over all very pleased and well worth the money.
Couldn’t have chosen a better product, it’s been 2 years since installation and have absolutely no issues. The house is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Speaking of winter it’s only a matter of hours after a snow storm that all the snow slides right off, no more ice dams and ice filled gutters. The installers were awesome had the entire roof done in a day and a half and cleaned up prior to leaving. We love our Interlock roof.
This letter has been a long time in coming. My husband and I had an Interlock Roof installed in November 2009 and have been meaning to tell you how pleased we are with the look of the new roof and the service provided by the installers ~ Nazaar and Vitality. We’ve gotten many questions and compliments from friends, neighbors and passersby. Both our home and detached garage needed to be re-roofed, with both requiring removal of the old roofing material and the installation of plywood before applying the Interlock product. We were originally told that it would take up to 2 weeks for the job to be completed. To our amazement, the job was completed within a week’s time and that included inclement weather! Nazaar and Vitaliy put in very long days, were very polite, honored their commitments and ALWAYS cleaned everything up before they left for the day. We have children and a dog and found not one nail in the yard after the job was completed. Based on this experience and a product that speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend an Interlock Roof!
I wish to thank " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">Interlock Industries, Inc. for a great roofing system. I'm 100% satisfied and it has a clean and beautiful look. It's great! It's wonderful to know the roof never need replacement again. I also wish to thank Bob Allen, Jerry and Paul McAllister for being so helpful in completing the work. I know this " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">roof system was right when we met Bob Allen the first time, he explained everything in detail. Everything he said was correct. The men who did the work were polite and respectiful, and were clean and neat in the work process. Thank you guys. I would recommend an Interlock Roof for every home, or any building and the long term ">cost is less than another roof system.
Sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner, but I just wanted to drop you a line on the excellent installation of my roof by Nazar and Sergei. They installed our roof in February and never let the harsh weather affect their attention to detail and their determination to do quality work. I was very fortunate to get these two Ukrainian gentlemen as my installers.
I am writing to tell you how much my wife and I are satisfied with our new roof from Interlock Roofing. Our old asphalt shingles were showing the effects of time both aesthetically and functionally. Most noticeably was the water mark on the living room ceiling that just kept growing with each passing rain. We certainly weren't looking forward to buying a new roof, since we were still paying for our wedding six months before, but knew we had to do something soon. I mentioned to Dawn that I had heard metal roofs were becoming popular because of how long they last; but she was concerned our home would look like a fast food restaurant, a factory, or even worse a tin roof barn. She made it clear that a modern looking metal roof would ruin the look of our 1860s vintage home. I said I thought I had seen a couple of years ago a house that was done with what I thought the sign said was metal but looked like shingles instead of ridged sheets she pictured. The problem was I couldn't remember the name of the roofer – just that they had an orange sign. A friend of our mentioned there was a Home Show coming up in Worchester and we figured it would be fun to look around and dream about improvements we could make. As we walked the aisles, I saw your familiar orange sign and product display booth. I said to Dawn look at this! This looks really nice – it looks just like " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate! Wouldn't that look really great on our house! Two weeks later, you explained what made Interlock Roofing different from other materials and the lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty helped us feel confident in making what was for us a major purchase decision. Although an Interlock roof might cost more initially, we think it is well worth it knowing we will never have to buy another roof for this home again. Your company and crews are great! A representative called to let us know materials were being delivered and when they arrived they were neatly stored out of the way until the work began. A supervisor called to let us know when the work would begin, and except for two days of rain which delayed their start, the job was completed within the estimated three days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and when the job was competed they raked up any pieces that may have been missed in the grass. The completed roof looks great and enhances the appearance of our home. We have had many people stop and compliment us on it and at least one had already installed an Interlock roof of their own. Should we ever move from this home in the future, one of the features we will look for is an Interlock roof or plan on upgrading to one in our new home as well.
Just wanted to let you know that we are very satisfied with the aluminum interlocking roof which was installed in July of 2005. It was amazing to us how quickly and efficiently your men worked in removing our old asphalt layers of roof and installing the new one. Needless to say, we were very impressed with their work as well as our new roof! Unfortunately, during installation of the roof, damage was done to the interior ceiling of our dining room. Interlock did respond and the damaged area was repaired in a timely manner. Unfortunately our existing ceilings are plaster and the repaired area was done in wallboard which simply do not match. In order for this to be repaired properly, the entire ceiling has to be repainted with a light texture. Whatever you can do to help rectify the pending repair to the interior ceiling would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Once again, thank you for offering us the opportunity to upgrade our home with an outstanding roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Woodstock
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Woodstock, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Woodstock.
How does a metal roof handle Woodstock's heavy snow, and will ice dams form?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice more readily than asphalt because aluminum's smooth surface and thermal properties discourage ice dam formation—crucial in Windham County, where you average about 90 cm of snow annually and experience roughly 90 freeze-thaw cycles per year. Four-way interlocking panels prevent water infiltration even when snow melts and refreezes. Snow guards are available if you want to control shedding onto walkways. The lightweight design (Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft) means snow loads don't stress your structure the way traditional slate or tile would.
Will freeze-thaw cycles in Connecticut damage my metal roof?
No. Aluminum's oxide layer—which forms naturally on its surface—actually self-heals when scratched, so freeze-thaw stress cycles don't crack or degrade it the way they do asphalt, wood, or clay. Your region experiences approximately 90 freeze-thaw days annually, which would cause traditional materials to develop splits and curling. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (measured per ASTM D4214), protecting against UV damage that compounds freeze-thaw wear. Aluminum contains no iron and cannot rust, making it genuinely indifferent to moisture and temperature swings.
Can a metal roof rust in Connecticut's wet climate?
Aluminum roofs cannot rust because aluminum itself contains no iron—rust requires iron to form. What you get instead is a thin, transparent oxide layer that continuously self-repairs when exposed to air, even after scratches. This is why Interlock has installed successfully from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station since 1998. In Woodstock's climate—with about 1098 mm of annual rainfall and seasonal moisture swings—a steel roof would require ongoing inspection and coating maintenance; aluminum simply does not corrode. The Alunar coating, applied to both sides of each panel, adds a 30-year warranty against fading and chalking as extra insurance.
Are metal roofs safe in gusty Connecticut weather?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification—well above Woodstock's typical gusts, which reach about 121 km/h (75 mph). The four-way interlock system means each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, creating a unified surface that doesn't lift or separate even in severe wind events. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) confirms code compliance for high-wind installations. Unlike asphalt shingles, which can tear or blow away, metal panels flex slightly under pressure and then return to shape.
Does metal roofing stand up to hail, and could it lower my insurance costs?
Interlock's aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Because hail causes serious damage to asphalt and wood roofs, many homeowners see insurance premium reductions after installing Class 4 metal roofing. Check with your insurer about available discounts; many recognize the durability advantage. Woodstock's climate delivers about 2999 sunshine hours per year but also significant thunderstorm risk. Class 4 rating means your roof is engineered to withstand impacts that would puncture or dent traditional materials, making it a genuine asset to your home's resilience.
Is my house strong enough to support a metal roof?
Almost certainly yes, because metal roofing is extraordinarily light. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the appearance of heavy clay or concrete tile, weighs approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than the real material it mimics. Concrete or clay tile typically requires structural reinforcement; Interlock's weight means it installs over most existing roofs without any reinforcement. This is especially valuable in Woodstock, where about 90 cm of snow annually creates seasonal load. A roof that weighs less than asphalt (and far less than traditional tile) reduces stress on your framing while giving you the architectural style you want.
Can metal roofing help cool my home in summer?
Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. In a region with about 2999 sunshine hours annually, this reflection reduces cooling load, especially in afternoon hours. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms performance. Lighter colors (like Aged Copper Penny) deliver greater reflectance than darker tones. Over a roof's 50-year lifespan, the cumulative cooling savings often offset a portion of the material cost, making energy efficiency a financial, not just environmental, benefit.
How much upkeep does a metal roof actually need?
Very little. Asphalt shingles require roof inspections every 3-5 years and repairs to brittle, curling, or missing shingles; wood shakes need regular treatment and split repairs; clay or concrete tile requires mortar resealing. Interlock aluminum roofing requires only occasional gutter cleaning and visual inspection—no coating renewal, no caulk maintenance, no fungicide treatments. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading; the material itself carries a lifetime limited warranty for the original owner. In Woodstock's climate, with about 1098 mm of annual rain and 90 freeze-thaw days, you avoid the maintenance burden that plagues traditional roofing materials.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?
Metal roofing is typically higher upfront but becomes the better long-term investment. Asphalt shingles last 15-20 years and require two or three replacements before your home's 50-year or longer lifespan; each replacement means roofing costs plus tear-off disposal. Interlock's lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, plus a one-time transferable term extending 50 years from completion for the next owner, means one roof lasts far longer. Factor in avoided repair costs, energy savings in a region with 2999 annual sunshine hours, avoided maintenance, and the potential for higher resale appeal, and the total cost of ownership favors metal. Current promotions offer no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation.
What's the warranty on an Interlock metal roof, and is it really transferable?
Interlock's Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance, with no prorating across your ownership. The warranty is one-time transferable, extending 50 years from completion for the next owner. This unusual structure recognizes metal roofing's durability in a way asphalt warranties cannot match; asphalt coverage drops significantly after year five. In Woodstock's freeze-thaw intensive climate (90 cycles annually), this non-prorated coverage for cracking and curling is genuinely valuable, since those are the failure modes that plague traditional materials. A transferable warranty also increases home value and buyer confidence at resale.
