| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |

What our customers are saying:
Everybody was great to work with highly professional. Any underlying damage was all taken care of and we love the roof.
> We had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan Brown at the Mohegan Sun Home Show and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him how happy we are with our Interlock roof of ~20 years. We constantly receive compliments from people passing by on how beautiful it looks. Most of all, we appreciate the peace of mind it gives us—knowing we’ll never have to replace our roof, thanks to the lifetime warranty and guaranteed protection against leaks.
Jonathan was great help getting us all the information needed for the roof and what to expect, and the whole process. The installation was fast, the roofers were hard working and professional. The look of the metal roof is superb!
It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.
What a beautiful roof. We are so happy and now we have a forever roof. Thank you. Techs were great. Positive: Punctuality, Quality Services: Roof installation
Salesman was very courteous and polite. Straight forward no hype or fluff. Company kept constant contact, took care of the required building permits. Had the dumpster and materials delivered on time and removed quickly. The crew was phenomenal, polite courteous. Explained everything, and was very conscientious about their work. If the the nail didn't go in the way he liked he pulled it and did it right. Nailing was all done by hand. Roof has been great since no issues and still looks great. Over all very pleased and well worth the money.
Couldn’t have chosen a better product, it’s been 2 years since installation and have absolutely no issues. The house is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Speaking of winter it’s only a matter of hours after a snow storm that all the snow slides right off, no more ice dams and ice filled gutters. The installers were awesome had the entire roof done in a day and a half and cleaned up prior to leaving. We love our Interlock roof.
This letter has been a long time in coming. My husband and I had an Interlock Roof installed in November 2009 and have been meaning to tell you how pleased we are with the look of the new roof and the service provided by the installers ~ Nazaar and Vitality. We’ve gotten many questions and compliments from friends, neighbors and passersby. Both our home and detached garage needed to be re-roofed, with both requiring removal of the old roofing material and the installation of plywood before applying the Interlock product. We were originally told that it would take up to 2 weeks for the job to be completed. To our amazement, the job was completed within a week’s time and that included inclement weather! Nazaar and Vitaliy put in very long days, were very polite, honored their commitments and ALWAYS cleaned everything up before they left for the day. We have children and a dog and found not one nail in the yard after the job was completed. Based on this experience and a product that speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend an Interlock Roof!
I wish to thank " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">Interlock Industries, Inc. for a great roofing system. I'm 100% satisfied and it has a clean and beautiful look. It's great! It's wonderful to know the roof never need replacement again. I also wish to thank Bob Allen, Jerry and Paul McAllister for being so helpful in completing the work. I know this " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">roof system was right when we met Bob Allen the first time, he explained everything in detail. Everything he said was correct. The men who did the work were polite and respectiful, and were clean and neat in the work process. Thank you guys. I would recommend an Interlock Roof for every home, or any building and the long term ">cost is less than another roof system.
Sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner, but I just wanted to drop you a line on the excellent installation of my roof by Nazar and Sergei. They installed our roof in February and never let the harsh weather affect their attention to detail and their determination to do quality work. I was very fortunate to get these two Ukrainian gentlemen as my installers.
I am writing to tell you how much my wife and I are satisfied with our new roof from Interlock Roofing. Our old asphalt shingles were showing the effects of time both aesthetically and functionally. Most noticeably was the water mark on the living room ceiling that just kept growing with each passing rain. We certainly weren't looking forward to buying a new roof, since we were still paying for our wedding six months before, but knew we had to do something soon. I mentioned to Dawn that I had heard metal roofs were becoming popular because of how long they last; but she was concerned our home would look like a fast food restaurant, a factory, or even worse a tin roof barn. She made it clear that a modern looking metal roof would ruin the look of our 1860s vintage home. I said I thought I had seen a couple of years ago a house that was done with what I thought the sign said was metal but looked like shingles instead of ridged sheets she pictured. The problem was I couldn't remember the name of the roofer – just that they had an orange sign. A friend of our mentioned there was a Home Show coming up in Worchester and we figured it would be fun to look around and dream about improvements we could make. As we walked the aisles, I saw your familiar orange sign and product display booth. I said to Dawn look at this! This looks really nice – it looks just like " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate! Wouldn't that look really great on our house! Two weeks later, you explained what made Interlock Roofing different from other materials and the lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty helped us feel confident in making what was for us a major purchase decision. Although an Interlock roof might cost more initially, we think it is well worth it knowing we will never have to buy another roof for this home again. Your company and crews are great! A representative called to let us know materials were being delivered and when they arrived they were neatly stored out of the way until the work began. A supervisor called to let us know when the work would begin, and except for two days of rain which delayed their start, the job was completed within the estimated three days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and when the job was competed they raked up any pieces that may have been missed in the grass. The completed roof looks great and enhances the appearance of our home. We have had many people stop and compliment us on it and at least one had already installed an Interlock roof of their own. Should we ever move from this home in the future, one of the features we will look for is an Interlock roof or plan on upgrading to one in our new home as well.
Just wanted to let you know that we are very satisfied with the aluminum interlocking roof which was installed in July of 2005. It was amazing to us how quickly and efficiently your men worked in removing our old asphalt layers of roof and installing the new one. Needless to say, we were very impressed with their work as well as our new roof! Unfortunately, during installation of the roof, damage was done to the interior ceiling of our dining room. Interlock did respond and the damaged area was repaired in a timely manner. Unfortunately our existing ceilings are plaster and the repaired area was done in wallboard which simply do not match. In order for this to be repaired properly, the entire ceiling has to be repainted with a light texture. Whatever you can do to help rectify the pending repair to the interior ceiling would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Once again, thank you for offering us the opportunity to upgrade our home with an outstanding roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in North Windham Village
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in North Windham Village, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in North Windham Village.
Will a metal roof hold up to Connecticut's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. North Windham Village experiences about 87 freeze-thaw days per year, which can crack asphalt and wood shingles, but aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched and contains no iron, so it cannot rust or become brittle from repeated freezing. The four-way interlocking panels expand and contract as a single system, eliminating the panel separation that traps water under traditional roofing. Your roof will still be performing when asphalt has failed multiple times.
How does metal roofing handle heavy snow loads and ice dams?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice much faster than asphalt because its smooth surface and metal-to-metal interlocks prevent water entrapment. North Windham averages about 75 cm of snow yearly—the low-friction profile means less accumulation and faster melt-off, reducing ice dam pressure on gutters and fascia. If you want the reassurance of a snow guard, Interlock installs them easily on the four-way interlocking system. The underlying solid deck and underlayment keep interior heat from melting snow prematurely from below, the real cause of ice dams.
Can metal roofing survive North Windham's wind gusts?
Absolutely. Typical daily winds in North Windham Village average 18 km/h, but gusts can reach 127 km/h—Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This is why the system carries a 120 mph wind warranty even in coastal salt-air regions where wind and corrosion conspire against roofs.
Does a metal roof reduce hail damage and insurance costs?
Metal roofing earns UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact rating available—and Interlock's warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 impact resistance is rare and often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because the roof genuinely outperforms asphalt under impact. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification and the ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report; many carriers recognize this durability and lower premiums accordingly. It's one of the few roof upgrades that pays for itself through reduced insurance costs over time.
Is metal roofing more expensive than asphalt shingles over 30 years?
Metal roofing costs more upfront but becomes the cheaper choice within 15–20 years. Asphalt fails every 15–25 years and requires tearoff, hauling, and reinstallation; that cycle repeats twice or more in the lifetime of a metal roof. North Windham's climate—75 cm of snow, 87 freeze-thaw days, and 1208 mm of rain annually—accelerates asphalt degradation. Interlock's 30-year coating warranty and lifetime limited material coverage means you buy one roof and stop replacing it. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Do the math: this is your last roof.
What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover?
The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion—a massive resale advantage. Because aluminum cannot rust and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted for 30 years against chalking and fading, the material typically outlasts the fasteners. Unlike prorated warranties that diminish each year, this one stands as-is for life if you own the home, and the transferable term gives future buyers serious confidence in your roof's longevity.
Will I need to reinforce my roof structure for metal roofing?
No structural reinforcement is needed because aluminum is extraordinarily light. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates heavy clay or concrete tile, installs at only 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than the real thing. This means Interlock can install directly over most existing asphalt roofs, saving you tearoff costs and labor. Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles are even lighter. Compare this to real slate or tile, which often require expensive structural upgrades. You get the architectural presence without the engineering headache or expense.
Can metal roofing lower cooling costs in summer?
energy-efficient colors in Interlock's lineup achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they reflect solar heat rather than absorb it like asphalt does. North Windham enjoys about 3066 sunshine hours annually, so this reflectance compounds throughout warm months. Cool Roof Rating Council ratings confirm the thermal advantage. The difference isn't dramatic in Connecticut's temperate climate, but every degree of reduced attic heat reduces cooling load on your HVAC system. Over a 30-year roof life, that's measurable utility savings—and you avoid the asphalt-to-landfill cycle entirely.
Who installs Interlock roofing near North Windham Village?
Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served the region since 1999 and is the local authorized installer for North Windham Village. They understand Connecticut's snow loads, freeze-thaw stress, and coastal wind exposure—having installed thousands of roofs in similar conditions across New England. This is not a national franchise; it's a regional specialist with 25+ years of experience and local accountability. They handle permitting, installation, and warranty support right here, which matters when you need service or have questions about your roof's performance over time.
Why can't aluminum roofing rust like steel?
Aluminum contains no iron—the element that oxidizes into rust. Instead, aluminum's oxide layer forms instantly when exposed to air and self-heals when scratched, providing permanent corrosion protection. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides, adding a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. Steel roofing, by contrast, rusts unless constantly repainted; salt air accelerates the damage. For a Connecticut home facing freeze-thaw cycling, rainy winters, and potential salt spray near coastal areas, aluminum's inability to rust is a lifetime advantage asphalt and steel simply cannot match.
