> We had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan Brown at the Mohegan Sun Home Show and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him how happy we are with our Interlock roof of ~20 years. We constantly receive compliments from people passing by on how beautiful it looks. Most of all, we appreciate the peace of mind it gives us—knowing we’ll never have to replace our roof, thanks to the lifetime warranty and guaranteed protection against leaks.

Review: November 15, 2024 Completion: November 19, 2024

It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.

Salesman was very courteous and polite. Straight forward no hype or fluff. Company kept constant contact, took care of the required building permits. Had the dumpster and materials delivered on time and removed quickly. The crew was phenomenal, polite courteous. Explained everything, and was very conscientious about their work. If the the nail didn't go in the way he liked he pulled it and did it right. Nailing was all done by hand. Roof has been great since no issues and still looks great. Over all very pleased and well worth the money.

Couldn’t have chosen a better product, it’s been 2 years since installation and have absolutely no issues. The house is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Speaking of winter it’s only a matter of hours after a snow storm that all the snow slides right off, no more ice dams and ice filled gutters. The installers were awesome had the entire roof done in a day and a half and cleaned up prior to leaving. We love our Interlock roof.

This letter has been a long time in coming. My husband and I had an Interlock Roof installed in November 2009 and have been meaning to tell you how pleased we are with the look of the new roof and the service provided by the installers ~ Nazaar and Vitality. We’ve gotten many questions and compliments from friends, neighbors and passersby. Both our home and detached garage needed to be re-roofed, with both requiring removal of the old roofing material and the installation of plywood before applying the Interlock product. We were originally told that it would take up to 2 weeks for the job to be completed. To our amazement, the job was completed within a week’s time and that included inclement weather! Nazaar and Vitaliy put in very long days, were very polite, honored their commitments and ALWAYS cleaned everything up before they left for the day. We have children and a dog and found not one nail in the yard after the job was completed. Based on this experience and a product that speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend an Interlock Roof!

I wish to thank " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">Interlock Industries, Inc. for a great roofing system. I'm 100% satisfied and it has a clean and beautiful look. It's great! It's wonderful to know the roof never need replacement again. I also wish to thank Bob Allen, Jerry and Paul McAllister for being so helpful in completing the work. I know this " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">roof system was right when we met Bob Allen the first time, he explained everything in detail. Everything he said was correct. The men who did the work were polite and respectiful, and were clean and neat in the work process. Thank you guys. I would recommend an Interlock Roof for every home, or any building and the long term ">cost is less than another roof system.

Sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner, but I just wanted to drop you a line on the excellent installation of my roof by Nazar and Sergei. They installed our roof in February and never let the harsh weather affect their attention to detail and their determination to do quality work. I was very fortunate to get these two Ukrainian gentlemen as my installers.

Review: August 25, 2007 Completion: April 27, 2007

I am writing to tell you how much my wife and I are satisfied with our new roof from Interlock Roofing. Our old asphalt shingles were showing the effects of time both aesthetically and functionally. Most noticeably was the water mark on the living room ceiling that just kept growing with each passing rain. We certainly weren't looking forward to buying a new roof, since we were still paying for our wedding six months before, but knew we had to do something soon. I mentioned to Dawn that I had heard metal roofs were becoming popular because of how long they last; but she was concerned our home would look like a fast food restaurant, a factory, or even worse a tin roof barn. She made it clear that a modern looking metal roof would ruin the look of our 1860s vintage home. I said I thought I had seen a couple of years ago a house that was done with what I thought the sign said was metal but looked like shingles instead of ridged sheets she pictured. The problem was I couldn't remember the name of the roofer – just that they had an orange sign. A friend of our mentioned there was a Home Show coming up in Worchester and we figured it would be fun to look around and dream about improvements we could make. As we walked the aisles, I saw your familiar orange sign and product display booth. I said to Dawn look at this! This looks really nice – it looks just like " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate! Wouldn't that look really great on our house! Two weeks later, you explained what made Interlock Roofing different from other materials and the lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty helped us feel confident in making what was for us a major purchase decision. Although an Interlock roof might cost more initially, we think it is well worth it knowing we will never have to buy another roof for this home again. Your company and crews are great! A representative called to let us know materials were being delivered and when they arrived they were neatly stored out of the way until the work began. A supervisor called to let us know when the work would begin, and except for two days of rain which delayed their start, the job was completed within the estimated three days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and when the job was competed they raked up any pieces that may have been missed in the grass. The completed roof looks great and enhances the appearance of our home. We have had many people stop and compliment us on it and at least one had already installed an Interlock roof of their own. Should we ever move from this home in the future, one of the features we will look for is an Interlock roof or plan on upgrading to one in our new home as well.

Review: June 2, 2006 Completion: July 25, 2005

Just wanted to let you know that we are very satisfied with the aluminum interlocking roof which was installed in July of 2005. It was amazing to us how quickly and efficiently your men worked in removing our old asphalt layers of roof and installing the new one. Needless to say, we were very impressed with their work as well as our new roof! Unfortunately, during installation of the roof, damage was done to the interior ceiling of our dining room. Interlock did respond and the damaged area was repaired in a timely manner. Unfortunately our existing ceilings are plaster and the repaired area was done in wallboard which simply do not match. In order for this to be repaired properly, the entire ceiling has to be repainted with a light texture. Whatever you can do to help rectify the pending repair to the interior ceiling would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Once again, thank you for offering us the opportunity to upgrade our home with an outstanding roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Killingly

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Killingly, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Killingly.

How does a metal roof handle the snow and ice that Killingly gets every winter?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far better than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface doesn't trap moisture the way granules do. With about 90 cm of snow per year and roughly 90 freeze-thaw cycles annually in Windham County, that matters—standing seam and interlocking profiles naturally slope water away rather than pooling it. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels lock together so snow load distributes evenly without gaps. If you want to keep snow for insulation or aesthetics, our optional snow guards hold it in place safely.

Will freeze-thaw cycles in Connecticut damage an aluminum roof?

No. Aluminum doesn't absorb water, so freeze-thaw cycling won't crack or splinter it the way it does wood shakes or concrete tile. The material is rated to handle the roughly 90 freeze-thaw days Killingly experiences yearly without degradation. The self-healing oxide layer on the aluminum alloy (3105-H24 and 3003-H24, per ASTM B209) continuously protects the metal beneath—even if snow or ice scratches the surface, the aluminum won't rust. That's a structural advantage asphalt and wood simply don't have.

Can aluminum roofing rust or corrode in a humid climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—that's the fundamental difference from steel. Instead, aluminum develops a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects it from corrosion, even in salt air or high humidity. Our Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel, giving you a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. In Killingly's 1098 mm of annual rainfall, that dual-coat protection means your roof will resist weathering far longer than uncoated metals or oxidizing wood.

Does heavy rainfall cause leaks in a metal roof?

No, if installed correctly. Metal roofs with solid decking and underlayment are watertight and remain as quiet as asphalt in heavy rain. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a continuous lock across the roof, so water runs off rather than pooling. With Killingly averaging about 1098 mm of rain yearly, the key is skilled installation—that's why we recommend using a local, experienced installer. Our panels are ICC-ES evaluated (ESR-1790) and designed to handle pitched installations where water naturally drains to gutters.

Will an aluminum metal roof hold up to Connecticut's gusty winds?

Yes. Wind gusts in Windham County reach about 121 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking system means each panel is mechanically secured to its neighbors and the underlying structure—there's no way the wind can lift or separate them. That's why we've installed these roofs from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station. Your warranty covers wind damage up to that rated speed.

What's the hail rating on a metal roof, and can it lower insurance costs?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available—the only metal roof category that meets it. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this non-combustible, impact-resistant construction and offer discounts on homeowners policies. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating to discuss your specific premium. In a region that experiences occasional severe weather, this durability often translates to tangible savings over the roof's 50-year transferred lifespan.

Do I need to reinforce my house for a metal roof, or is it really that light?

You almost certainly don't need structural reinforcement. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it goes over most existing roofs without additional framing. Even the heavier Shake profile is only 0.58 lb/sq ft. Because Killingly homes were built to handle slate or tile (much heavier materials), aluminum replaces them without adding load. A structural engineer can confirm your specific situation in minutes, but the lightweight aluminum advantage is one reason Interlock has installed over 25 years of roofs across every climate without reinforcement complications.

Does a metal roof help with cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorbing it the way asphalt does. Our Cool Roof Rating Council rated finishes have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), which means in Killingly's roughly 3000 hours of annual sunshine, you're reducing cooling load, especially on hotter days. The lighter color profiles actively cool your home instead of turning your attic into an oven. Over a 30, 40, or 50-year lifespan, that cuts air-conditioning costs measurably compared to dark asphalt.

What's the real cost difference between a metal roof and asphalt over 30 or 40 years?

Asphalt costs less upfront but requires full replacement every 15–20 years, plus recurring maintenance. Interlock comes with a lifetime limited non-prorated warranty for the original owner, meaning one roof lasts your ownership. The Guardian Warranty is transferable—the next owner gets 50 years of coverage, which raises resale value. Over four decades, asphalt means two or three tear-offs to the landfill; aluminum means one installation, one transfer, and ~95% recyclability at end of life. We're currently offering no payments or interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—that front-loads the advantage even further.

Who installs Interlock metal roofs in the Killingly area?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served Windham County and the surrounding region since 1999. That's longer than most local contractors have been in business, and it means you're working with installers who know Connecticut's climate, building codes, and the specific details that matter—ice dams, heavy snow loads, the roughly 90 freeze-thaw cycles we see yearly. They understand local permitting and can handle both new installation and retrofitting over existing roofs. Call or email for a site visit and quote; financing options are available now through Spring 2027.
