What our customers are saying:
Our house experiences high wind and exposure to the elements on the Maine coast. Interlock offered competitive pricing on aluminum shingle roofing. The entire experience was good, from quotation, removal of the old roof, and installation of the new roof.
We really like our roof.
Interlock was great, and installation was just as told to us by sales. The crew worked hard, cleaned area each day and roof looks great! I was impressed by their professionalism and also had a call from home office checking during the install and had a visit from a home office inspector checking progress and quality of install.
The roof looks great Jonathan did a great job of explaining the features of the new roof.the crew was great and very professional and did a great clean up after the installation
Our entire experience; inquiry, ordering, installation, and follow up has been excellent. The roof was justifiably costly and definitely worth the investment. The appearance of our house has been greatly enhanced.
Nazar was awesome to fix roof from winter ice damage. !!
Bought this roofing 20 years ago. It was installed well. Needed improvements to my roof structure were suggested and made to ensure the longevity and worthiness of my roof. All these years later I am still happy I made the investment in my 160 year old home.

Interlock was very professional. They installed my roof in a timely manner and the workmanship was great. Glad I went with interlock. Positive: Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, Value Services: Roof damage repair, Roof installation
Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value To Potential Interlock Customer: We intentionally waited almost two years to write a review (roof replaced in August 2019). Replacing a roof (whether asphalt or Interlock) is an expensive project, and we felt it was important to have the perspective of someone who has experience with the Interlock roof for 2 years. Our house is an old colonial built in about 1890. It is almost 3200 square feet with an attic that could be converted to a third floor. We also have an L-shaped wrap-around porch at the front of the house. I am very familiar with the effort it takes to replace a roof, as I have helped re-roof five different houses, including my own. I did this with the help of several friends, putting a layer of asphalt shingles on my house about 20 years ago. However, after 20 years, I had shingles beginning to fail and lost a couple during wind storms. I had a couple of asphalt shingle contractors look at the house for an estimate. One never provided a quote. The second refused the work because my house is 34 feet at the peak, and he felt it was too tall for him to work on. Michael Baldarassi came to our house in June 2019. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable about the construction of old houses and correctly identified that the gable ends would need repair as it was common to not fully extend roof boards to the gable end. He explained the product extremely well, and we were happy to choose the black, " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate-looking tiles for our roof. The work team started in the second week of August on a bright sunny, " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot week. My roof needed to be stripped to the boards, and I was amazed at how quickly they dealt with the very hot asphalt shingles. It is an extremely hard-working team, and it was to the point that I wanted to tell them to take breaks. Sheets of plywood were carried up to the roof, gable ends were repaired, and several spots needed repair prior to installing the Interlock shingles. They did an excellent installation, along with cleanup and the weather-supported completion in 5 days. We immediately started receiving compliments from townspeople who thought we were having a slate roof put on. The roof definitely adds appeal to our house. Our experience with the Interlock roof has been outstanding. I no longer worry during the strong winds of winter. Having the snow slide off the roof has been a big benefit. Our first snowstorm in December 2019 was 20 inches. It was predicted to be followed by rain four days later. For the past 20 years, I have had to go out onto the wrap-around porch roof to shovel it off so that the 20 inches of snow with rain on it wouldn’t overload the porch. Not with Interlock. The snow had slid off during the snowstorm and before the rain, so no more shovelling the roof. I love not having to stand on a snowy roof shovelling anymore. Having the snow slide off has other benefits. It removed tons of weight from the snow on the roof. That snow weight does nothing good for a house. I used to have minor changes in door fitting, etc., during the winter, but that has stopped because the snow weight on the roof is gone. Additionally, no snow on the roof means no icicles. As one side of my house faces the sun all day, there are winters where if it is 10F and sunny for several days, massive icicles form that weigh hundreds of pounds. These become dangerous when they unexpectedly drop. Icicles do not happen when there is no snow on the roof. Our Interlock roof has been a fantastic choice, and it has added to the value of our house. One day when we sell our house, I have no doubt that our Interlock roof will help to attract a buyer, and the price of the roof will likely be recouped in part or all. What is a big question a potential homebuyer has? - how old is the roof? Being able to answer with a 50-year " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty that can be transferred to one buyer will bring a lot of weight to the sale. The warranty gives us peace of mind that the roof will never worry us again. Thank you again, Interlock. Service: Roof installation
All of the above...we had a positive experience and live the look of our roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Waldoboro
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Waldoboro, Maine. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Waldoboro.
Does metal roofing handle Maine's heavy snow and ice buildup?
Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed snow and resist ice dam formation without cracking or warping. Waldoboro averages about 126 cm of snow annually plus roughly 85 freeze-thaw cycles per year, a combination that splits and curls asphalt and wood shingles. Aluminum's non-porous surface and smooth profiles (especially Standing Seam and Slate) naturally slope melt away, and the material itself expands and contracts uniformly with temperature swings rather than splitting like slate or cedar. You can add optional snow guards if you want to manage runoff toward gutters.
Will freeze-thaw cycles in Waldoboro damage a metal roof over time?
Freeze-thaw damage is precisely why aluminum outlasts traditional roofing here. The roughly 85 annual freeze-thaw days in Waldoboro cause wood to rot, asphalt to crack, and slate to split—but aluminum has no wood fibers to absorb water, no bitumen to embrittle in cold, and no stratification to fracture. The material's uniform crystalline structure means it cycles with the season without fatigue or deterioration. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) protects the underlying alloy, and because aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, minor damage won't expose raw metal to corrosion.
Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel, and does that matter in coastal Maine?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron oxide formation. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath. In salt-air environments (common across Maine's coast), steel rusts aggressively, but Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, providing extra salt-spray defense. This dual-coat approach is why Interlock panels are installed from coastal homes to an Antarctic research station. For Waldoboro homeowners, this means no annual rust inspections, no touch-ups, and no structural degradation from saltborne moisture.
Can a metal roof withstand Maine's coastal wind gusts?
Absolutely. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, and Waldoboro's typical wind gusts reach about 168 km/h (104 mph), well within that threshold. The four-way interlocking panel system locks each piece to its neighbors, creating a unified surface that distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. The panels' lightweight design (Slate profile installs at roughly 0.41 lb/sq ft) also reduces uplift force compared to heavy asphalt or slate. When storms hit, your roof stays secure.
With about 1000 mm of rain yearly in Waldoboro, how does metal roofing prevent leaks?
Metal roofing's standing-seam and interlocking panel designs shed water faster than shingles because water runs off sloped metal without pooling or saturation. Waldoboro receives roughly 1039 mm of rain annually—that's constant water exposure—and asphalt shingles absorb moisture, trapping it under the surface where algae and rot develop. Interlock panels shed water immediately; the four-way interlock seals prevent water from flowing horizontally into gaps, and the aluminum substrate never degrades from saturation. Combined with quality underlayment and proper flashing installed by Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., you get leak-free performance that lasts decades, not the 15-20 year lifespan of water-saturated asphalt.
Is metal roofing light enough to install over my existing roof without reinforcement?
Yes—this is one of metal roofing's biggest structural advantages. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, and all Interlock profiles are extraordinarily light (Shake ~0.58 lb/sq ft). Most existing roof structures easily support this load, so you typically avoid costly structural reinforcement. Installing over your existing roof saves tear-off labor and landfill fees, and the new Interlock layer adds a second weather barrier. Our local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., can evaluate your deck during a site visit, but in the vast majority of Waldoboro homes, installation proceeds directly without upgrades.
Does Waldoboro's hail exposure affect my metal roof, and can it lower insurance costs?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest hail resistance available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Maine's hail frequency is lower than Great Plains states, severe thunderstorms do occur, and impact durability matters for long-term protection. Some insurers offer premium reductions for Class 4-rated roofs because the product resists damage that would total an asphalt roof. Contact your agent with Interlock's ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL 2218 documentation; they may qualify you for a discount that partially offsets your installation cost, especially if your home has been damaged before.
What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing, and how long does the roof actually last?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no dollar caps or deductibles. The next owner receives a 50-year transferable term, a significant resale advantage. In real-world terms, Interlock panels manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC remain in service on homes and even Antarctic research stations, many already 20+ years old with no material failure. The Alunar coating carries a separate 30-year fade/chalk warranty (ASTM D4214/D2244 tested). This longevity means your metal roof is genuinely the last roof you install—asphalt requires replacement every 15-20 years.
Will a metal roof reduce my heating and cooling costs in Maine?
Maine's ~3076 annual sunshine hours mean your roof surface is exposed to significant solar heating during the nine months when you're not melting snow. Interlock's energy-efficient colors have thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny profile), reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs and converts to attic temperature. This reduces cooling load in summer and lowers air-conditioner strain. The aluminum's high reflectivity is passive—no mechanical system required—so the benefit persists year-round. Over a 50-year roof life, energy savings compound significantly, especially if you live in the warmest part of Waldoboro or upgrade your insulation at the same time.
Is metal roofing more environmentally responsible than asphalt in the long run?
Metal roofing is approximately 95% recyclable, and Interlock aluminum is reclaimed and reused indefinitely without degradation—unlike asphalt. Each asphalt roof tear-off generates tons of waste destined for landfills; Waldoboro homeowners who replace roofs every 15-20 years accumulate several tear-offs over a lifetime. Aluminum's durability (50+ years, transferable to the next owner) breaks that cycle. When an Interlock roof eventually needs replacement, the panels go to recycling centers rather than dumps. The manufacturing process uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 alloys, proven materials since 1998. Choosing metal also qualifies you for CALGreen verification (reduced maintenance and waste), aligning your home with modern sustainability standards.
