Don't hire these people if you have a TV antenna or satellite dish on your roof. hire crews that can comminicate with homeowners I've hired a professional, English-speaking bucket truck crew to repair my broadcast antenna rotor I'll let you know when all the mistakes and broken accessories are corrected/replaced but I don't want to see any of those idiots on my roof ever again. .

You should stipulate that the subcontractor always have someone on site who speaks English. This didn't create an issue but it could have.

Review: March 10, 2026Completion: February 5, 2005

We had our whole house done by Interlock in 2005, we've only had one issue (wind damage) and they came out the next day to repair the damage. At the time we left a small overhang undone with plans of removing it, however our plans changed and the roof had deteriorated with the passing of time. I called and they were very receptive to coming out to inspect and then replace. The work was done quickly, on time and to my complete satisfaction. I highly recommend Interlock, you wont be sorry!

Review: February 21, 2026Completion: November 19, 2025

Jonathan was not great at reading the room. I did not need a lengthy sales pitch; just information. See above. I did not love interacting with Jonathan Brown; he does not seem to recognize when someone knows what they want and doesn't need to be sold. It also would have been helpful if the installers were more proactive in communicating with me. They would mention that I could talk to their foreperson if I had questions, but I wouldn't know what to ask since the activity was happening on the roof and I couldn't really see what they were doing.

The roof was installed over 20 years ago. I called this morning and someone came by within a couple of hours and spent a few hours here and didn't leave until it was fixed. Couldn't possibly ask for more.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Madaket

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Madaket, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Madaket.

How does a metal roof handle Madaket's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum's smooth surface naturally sheds snow and ice far better than asphalt or wood, reducing the weight burden on your home. With about 62 cm of snow and roughly 44 freeze-thaw days per year, this matters: the metal won't absorb moisture, crack, or cup the way wood shakes do, and the interlocking four-way panels keep water out even when ice dams form. The aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) maintains its strength through repeated thaw cycles without degradation. Snow guards can be installed if you prefer controlled shedding.

Why is an aluminum roof better than steel in a coastal salt-air environment?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects against salt spray and corrosion. Steel, by contrast, oxidizes and weakens over time, especially near the Atlantic. Both Interlock's roofing-grade aluminum (ASTM B209) and its dual-coat Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading) are engineered for salt-air durability; the coating is applied to both sides of every panel for maximum protection in Nantucket County's corrosive marine environment.

Can a metal roof withstand Madaket's coastal wind gusts?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, well above the gusts around 160 km/h that occasionally sweep across Nantucket County. The interlocking design distributes wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. Homeowners in exposed coastal areas have relied on Interlock panels from salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station; the engineering is proven in some of the harshest wind environments on Earth.

Do I need to reinforce my house structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock metal roofing is extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, weighs roughly 0.59 lb per square foot, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means you can install Interlock panels over most existing roofs without costly engineering or framing upgrades. The lightweight aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) reduces stress on walls and foundations while providing the high-end aesthetic of traditional materials, making retrofits simpler and more affordable for Madaket homeowners.

What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing, and can it help with insurance?

Interlock panels carry the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability often qualifies homeowners for reduced insurance premiums or discounts on comprehensive coverage. In a region where hail events can occur, that combination of proven impact resistance and manufacturer warranty gives insurers confidence and you peace of mind. Check with your agent about potential savings when you upgrade to a Class 4-rated roof.

Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it the way dark asphalt does. Thermal emissivity reaches 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 in finishes like Aged Copper Penny, keeping your attic cooler and reducing air-conditioning demand on warm days. Over Madaket's roughly 3,081 annual sunshine hours, that reflectivity compounds into meaningful cooling savings. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms the performance; your utility bills will show the benefit especially in late spring and early fall when heating isn't needed but sun exposure is high.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Metal roofing costs more initially but is genuinely the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt shingles typically last 15–20 years and require tear-off and replacement, repeatedly. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty, non-prorated coverage, and proven durability through freeze-thaw cycles (44 per year in Madaket), coastal salt air, and 160 km/h gusts mean you won't face re-roofing. Current regional promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Over a 40–50 year horizon, the math strongly favors metal—lower total cost of ownership and zero landfill waste.

Is a metal roof fire-resistant?

Aluminum is non-combustible, and Interlock offers Class A fire classification—the highest rating—because the material itself cannot catch fire or accelerate flame spread. This is especially valuable if your home is near wooded areas or if you want the lowest fire insurance category. The aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and Alunar fluorocarbon coating do not support combustion. Compliance with ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms code acceptance under IBC/IRC standards, giving you and your insurer confidence in the fire safety of your Madaket home.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Madaket?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served the region since 1999 and is your local installer for Madaket and surrounding Nantucket County. They understand the coastal climate, salt-air challenges, wind exposure, and snow load conditions specific to this area, and they're backed by the manufacturer's full technical support and warranty infrastructure. When you hire a local installer with 25+ years of regional experience, you get faster response times, seamless warranty administration, and the confidence that your roof is installed to specification by crews familiar with your neighborhood's demands.

Are metal roofing panels recyclable?

Interlock aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that wastes resources and harms the environment. Aluminum is infinitely recyclable without loss of properties, so your roof never becomes waste—it becomes raw material for new products. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance and environmental responsibility. Over Madaket's 62 cm annual snowfall and roughly 1,157 mm of rain, you'll enjoy a durable roof that, decades from now, returns fully to the recycling stream rather than sitting in a landfill.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Madaket’s climate?

Yes. Madaket averages about 62 cm of snow, 1157 mm of rain, roughly 44 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 160 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
