Review: June 28, 2014Completion: April 9, 2014

We love our new roof. We get tons of compliments. the slate style really matches the style of our house (built in 1690). Carefree for life. Overall, they did an exceptional job and were organized and professional. There was some slight mis-communication initially and I'm not sure where the link in the chain was broken, but it appeared someone was mis-instructed on which skylight to take out, either that, or he couldn't read the plans, but I'm not sure. In the end they remedied the problem. Sales person was very knowledgeable and friendly, but be prepared for him to overwhelm you with info (not a bad thing). We couldn't be happier with the product quality and look. Highly recommend this. They also offer financing which was helpful for us. see comments above questions 3 & 4 Best roof ever for quality and look

From our first meeting with Jonathan, who was professional, authentic and knowledgeable about roofing, we've had a wonderful experience with Interlock Roofing. The installation team was clean, courteous and skilled at their job. The best part is snow slides off the roof and no more leaks in the house. Nothing. it was all great. It was great, easy to set up and we love the look of the roof

I've had an Interlock metal roof on my house and garden shed for two years now. It's absolutely gorgeous. Everyone thinks it's a slate roof! I've had no problems with it. The installation was amazing! A crew of 11 showed up early in the morning and were almost completely done in one day on both buildings. They were so professional. I highly recommend Interlock for both their high quality product and their great people.

Review: March 31, 2003Completion: March 31, 2003

Just a note about the roof we installed in March of 2003. The first thing that we have to say is that the roof looks wonderful; it’s the best one on the street. A neighbor two houses down the street had a new asphalt roof installed shortly after we had our Interlock Roof installed. The neighbor across the street remarked that our roof looked a lot better than the neighbor's. We have had quite a few neighbors stop and ask about the roof and remark how good it looks. Having the chimney flashed with a solid flashing (instead of step flashing) and the ducts matching the roof really makes the roof look finished off. Also, having them put vents on the back which match the roof looks finished off, so they are not noticeable. As far as the workmen and the quality of workmanship, we feel that it was done very professionally. We asked that they not start working until 8:00 am, and they waited until 8:30 am to start. They kept the grounds very clean even when they were stripping the roof. They hung tarps so nothing could or would damage either the house or any plants which are around the house. They were very friendly and courteous. In closing, we are very pleased with the roof and the professionalism of the workers.

Review: November 7, 2017Completion: October 12, 2017

Communication after the job was a bit lacking, when we had a couple of questions about signage left out front. Everything leading up to the project was perfect! We love the look and quality of our new roof. Your process was exceptional, and your staff great to deal with. The job was completed a month ahead of schedule and took half the time that we were expecting. We hope to never have to use the warranty, but should we have to, I’m confident that we will be taken care of. Great job!

I would recommend the Interlock Roofing System to anybody, my friends and neighbors were impressed by how nice my roof looks. The men that installed the roof were very respectful and courteous. I was shocked by how quickly they were able to install the Interlock Roofing System. Not only do I have a beautiful roof now, I have the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty and you can transfer it to a new owner if I ever sell the house.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Polpis

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Polpis, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Polpis.

How does a metal roof handle Polpis's annual snowfall and ice buildup?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because their smooth, hard surface prevents snow from bonding and creating dams. Polpis receives about 62 cm of snow annually, and the lightweight aluminum panels (the Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft) mean snow loads don't stress your structure. The four-way interlocking system is warranted for wind gusts up to 160 km/h, so winter storms won't lift or separate the panels. Many homeowners add snow guards if desired, but the design itself resists the freeze-thaw cycling—about 44 days per year here—that causes asphalt and wood to crack and curl over time.

Why does Polpis's freeze-thaw cycle damage some roofing materials but not aluminum?

Freeze-thaw damage occurs when water penetrates a material, then expands as it freezes and contracts as it thaws—gradually cracking it apart. With around 44 freeze-thaw days annually in Polpis, asphalt shingles and wood shake eventually fail this way. Aluminum cannot absorb water; it's non-porous and its protective oxide layer actually self-heals when scratched, staying intact through countless cycles. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading) adds a second defensive layer. After 1157 mm of annual rainfall, this sealed-surface approach keeps your roof sound for decades where organic materials would be degrading.

Does metal roofing rust in a coastal climate like Polpis?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the chemical element required for rust formation. The material is roofing-grade 3105-H24 or 3003-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209, and its protective oxide layer resists corrosion even in salty air. Interlock has installed panels at coastal homes and even an Antarctic research station, proving durability in extreme salt-air environments. The Alunar finish, applied to both sides of every panel, provides an extra 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires constant maintenance and will eventually rust; aluminum's passivity means you maintain the structure, not the material itself.

How does a metal roof perform during Polpis's heavy rainfall?

The four-way interlocking system and proper underlayment create a dual-defense barrier against Polpis's 1157 mm of annual rainfall. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, so water sheds away from seams rather than into them. When installed over solid decking with standard underlayment, the system handles heavy downpours the same way your asphalt roof does—water simply runs off. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms code compliance for water management in all climates. Unlike asphalt, which absorbs moisture and degrades, or wood shake, which rots, aluminum sheds water indefinitely without deterioration.

Can reflective metal roofing reduce cooling costs in summer?

Yes—energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect up to 55% of the sun's heat away from your home instead of absorbing it like asphalt does. The coating's thermal emissivity is 0.84, meaning it efficiently radiates away any absorbed heat. With 3081 sunshine hours per year in Polpis, this reflectance compounds over months. Cool Roof Rating Council certification backs these measurements. The lightweight panels also require no structural reinforcement and install over most existing roofs, so upgrading to an energy-efficient color is faster and less disruptive than a tear-off. Over decades, lower cooling loads translate to measurable savings on air-conditioning energy.

Does hail damage metal roofing, and can it lower insurance premiums?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest hail classification available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability sometimes qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts on comprehensive coverage. Polpis's coastal storm exposure is real, and Class 4 impact resistance demonstrates measurable, third-party-verified toughness that underwriters recognize. The four-way interlocking panels distribute impact loads across a wider area than traditional shingles, reducing localized damage. If hail strikes, you're protected by warranty rather than facing repeated claims and premium increases.

How strong are the wind gusts in Polpis, and will metal roofing stay secure?

Polpis experiences typical daily-max winds around 29 km/h but can see gusts up to 160 km/h during storms—and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The interlocking design means each panel is mechanically fastened and locked to its neighbors, so wind cannot lift individual shingles or create the flutter that weakens traditional roofing. This warranty is backed by real installation data spanning over 25 years across North America's most variable climates. Your roof's integrity in winter nor'easters and summer squalls is guaranteed by engineering, not hope.

Can metal roofing be installed over my existing asphalt roof?

Yes—one of aluminum's key advantages is weight. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, so it installs directly over most existing roofs without requiring structural reinforcement or a costly tear-off. Your contractor will assess the existing deck and add underlayment as needed, then fasten the interlocking panels according to the ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790). This means lower labor costs, no landfill waste from ripping off old asphalt, and you're under your new roof sooner. The local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., has served the region since 1999 and handles the entire process from assessment through final inspections.

What warranty does Interlock metal roofing offer, and is it transferable?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable to the next owner, who receives coverage for 50 years from completion. This structure reflects the product's real durability: aluminum manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC has proven itself in thousands of installations from coastal to extreme climates. Unlike asphalt warranties that prorate over time or require you to chase roof-specific coverage, this single comprehensive warranty simplifies your peace of mind and adds resale credibility. The Alunar coating alone is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading.

Is metal roofing more environmentally responsible than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end-of-life, whereas asphalt shingles become landfill waste—millions of tons annually across North America. When you tear off an asphalt roof after 15-20 years and replace it again, you're creating disposal costs and environmental impact. Interlock's lifespan means far fewer replacements over your home's lifetime, eliminating the tear-off-to-landfill cycle. The material itself is engineered to resist the 44 freeze-thaw days and 1157 mm of rainfall Polpis receives, so you're not replacing it early due to climate damage. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance demands, which means fewer service calls and less resource consumption. Choosing aluminum is choosing durability and circular economy over planned obsolescence.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Polpis’s climate?

Yes. Polpis averages about 62 cm of snow, 1157 mm of rain, roughly 44 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 160 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
