Review: June 28, 2014Completion: April 9, 2014

We love our new roof. We get tons of compliments. the slate style really matches the style of our house (built in 1690). Carefree for life. Overall, they did an exceptional job and were organized and professional. There was some slight mis-communication initially and I'm not sure where the link in the chain was broken, but it appeared someone was mis-instructed on which skylight to take out, either that, or he couldn't read the plans, but I'm not sure. In the end they remedied the problem. Sales person was very knowledgeable and friendly, but be prepared for him to overwhelm you with info (not a bad thing). We couldn't be happier with the product quality and look. Highly recommend this. They also offer financing which was helpful for us. see comments above questions 3 & 4 Best roof ever for quality and look

From our first meeting with Jonathan, who was professional, authentic and knowledgeable about roofing, we've had a wonderful experience with Interlock Roofing. The installation team was clean, courteous and skilled at their job. The best part is snow slides off the roof and no more leaks in the house. Nothing. it was all great. It was great, easy to set up and we love the look of the roof

I've had an Interlock metal roof on my house and garden shed for two years now. It's absolutely gorgeous. Everyone thinks it's a slate roof! I've had no problems with it. The installation was amazing! A crew of 11 showed up early in the morning and were almost completely done in one day on both buildings. They were so professional. I highly recommend Interlock for both their high quality product and their great people.

Review: March 31, 2003Completion: March 31, 2003

Just a note about the roof we installed in March of 2003. The first thing that we have to say is that the roof looks wonderful; it’s the best one on the street. A neighbor two houses down the street had a new asphalt roof installed shortly after we had our Interlock Roof installed. The neighbor across the street remarked that our roof looked a lot better than the neighbor's. We have had quite a few neighbors stop and ask about the roof and remark how good it looks. Having the chimney flashed with a solid flashing (instead of step flashing) and the ducts matching the roof really makes the roof look finished off. Also, having them put vents on the back which match the roof looks finished off, so they are not noticeable. As far as the workmen and the quality of workmanship, we feel that it was done very professionally. We asked that they not start working until 8:00 am, and they waited until 8:30 am to start. They kept the grounds very clean even when they were stripping the roof. They hung tarps so nothing could or would damage either the house or any plants which are around the house. They were very friendly and courteous. In closing, we are very pleased with the roof and the professionalism of the workers.

Review: November 7, 2017Completion: October 12, 2017

Communication after the job was a bit lacking, when we had a couple of questions about signage left out front. Everything leading up to the project was perfect! We love the look and quality of our new roof. Your process was exceptional, and your staff great to deal with. The job was completed a month ahead of schedule and took half the time that we were expecting. We hope to never have to use the warranty, but should we have to, I’m confident that we will be taken care of. Great job!

I would recommend the Interlock Roofing System to anybody, my friends and neighbors were impressed by how nice my roof looks. The men that installed the roof were very respectful and courteous. I was shocked by how quickly they were able to install the Interlock Roofing System. Not only do I have a beautiful roof now, I have the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty and you can transfer it to a new owner if I ever sell the house.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Tom Nevers

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Tom Nevers, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Tom Nevers.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice the way asphalt does?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice faster than asphalt because its smooth, hard surface resists ice adhesion — a real advantage in Tom Nevers, where you get about 62 cm of snow annually and around 44 freeze-thaw days per year. The aluminum panels don't absorb moisture, so they stay dimensionally stable through those freeze-thaw cycles that can crack and curl asphalt shingles. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted for wind gusts up to 120 mph, which means snow and ice bunching up won't create weak spots in your system.

Why does aluminum roofing make sense if you live near the ocean?

Aluminum physically cannot rust because it contains no iron — instead, it develops an oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched, giving it extraordinary durability in salt air. Tom Nevers' coastal location and 1157 mm of annual rainfall make corrosion a real concern with steel, but not aluminum. Interlock applies its Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish to both sides of every panel, and backs it with a 30-year coating warranty, explicitly defending against salt-spray damage that would compromise other metal roofing systems.

Is a metal roof really the last roof you'll buy, or is that just marketing?

It's not marketing — it's arithmetic. Asphalt roofs last 15–20 years and then go to a landfill; you'll replace yours twice before a metal roof reaches half its life. Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, cracking, and impact loss. Even factoring in today's higher install cost, spreading that across a 50+ year lifespan (and transferability to the next owner for another 50 years) makes the annual cost lower than the tear-off cycle. Current financing is available with no payments and no interest until Spring 2027.

Can my roof framing handle metal roofing, or do I need expensive reinforcement?

Most homes don't need any reinforcement. The Interlock Cedar Shingle installs at just 0.41 pounds per square foot — lighter than asphalt — and the Mediterranean Tile profile, despite looking like heavy clay or concrete tile, is about 96% lighter than the real thing. Tom Nevers homeowners can install Interlock directly over most existing roofs without structural work, saving thousands compared to slate or tile. The aluminum's light weight combined with the four-way interlocking system distributes loads evenly, so your existing framing stays intact.

Does metal roofing leak more than asphalt in heavy rain?

No — properly installed metal roofing is actually more leak-resistant than asphalt. Tom Nevers receives about 1157 mm of rain annually, and the Interlock system uses four-way interlocking panels that shed water faster than shingles can absorb it. Installation over a solid deck with underlayment seals the system the same way asphalt does, but without the deterioration that rain causes to asphalt over time. When installed to spec, the interlocking seams and slope keep water moving off the roof before it can pool or find gaps.

Does hail damage metal roofing, and will my insurance care?

Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this and may offer discounts on metal roofing compared to asphalt, which dents and loses granules in hail events. Tom Nevers' climate brings occasional severe weather; a roof that resists that impact and backs it up with warranty coverage is a tangible asset when you file a claim or sell your home.

Will freeze-thaw cycles crack or warp a metal roof in Massachusetts winters?

Aluminum's physical properties make it immune to freeze-thaw damage. Unlike wood, asphalt, or concrete, aluminum doesn't absorb water, so it doesn't expand and contract with ice formation — a crucial advantage in Tom Nevers, where you experience about 44 freeze-thaw days per year. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) maintains its integrity through endless wet-freeze cycles. Because the metal doesn't absorb moisture, curling, splitting, and cracking simply don't occur the way they do with traditional materials.

Does a metal roof actually lower cooling costs, or just look different?

Metal roof cooling benefit depends on color and reflectivity. Interlock's energy-efficient colors have initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs — measurable by the Cool Roof Rating Council standard. Tom Nevers gets about 3081 sunshine hours per year, so that reflected heat adds up. Light-colored profiles like Aged Copper Penny reflect more solar load, reducing the work your air conditioning has to do during warmer months, which directly lowers utility bills.

How much work is metal roof maintenance compared to asphalt or tile?

Metal roofing requires almost nothing. No moss treatment, no granule replacement, no shingle re-nailing, no loose tile fixing — the issues that consume time and money with traditional roofs. Interlock aluminum doesn't rot, split, or curl, and its finish is rated CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Tom Nevers' 1157 mm annual rainfall means organic growth potential is real for asphalt and wood, but not aluminum. A rinse with a hose every few years is optional; otherwise, your roof works invisibly for decades.

Who installs Interlock Metal Roofing in Tom Nevers, and how long have they been doing this?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served the region since 1999, meaning they understand New England snow loads, coastal corrosion, and freeze-thaw cycles firsthand. They're the local installer for all five Interlock profiles — Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile — and they handle everything from assessment through warranty service. Right now, they're offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, which is worth discussing during a free site visit.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Tom Nevers’s climate?

Yes. Tom Nevers averages about 62 cm of snow, 1157 mm of rain, roughly 44 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 160 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
