| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |

| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |

What our customers are saying:
We love our new roof. We get tons of compliments. the slate style really matches the style of our house (built in 1690). Carefree for life. Overall, they did an exceptional job and were organized and professional. There was some slight mis-communication initially and I'm not sure where the link in the chain was broken, but it appeared someone was mis-instructed on which skylight to take out, either that, or he couldn't read the plans, but I'm not sure. In the end they remedied the problem. Sales person was very knowledgeable and friendly, but be prepared for him to overwhelm you with info (not a bad thing). We couldn't be happier with the product quality and look. Highly recommend this. They also offer financing which was helpful for us. see comments above questions 3 & 4 Best roof ever for quality and look
From our first meeting with Jonathan, who was professional, authentic and knowledgeable about roofing, we've had a wonderful experience with Interlock Roofing. The installation team was clean, courteous and skilled at their job. The best part is snow slides off the roof and no more leaks in the house. Nothing. it was all great. It was great, easy to set up and we love the look of the roof
Located in Dorchester, I chose Interlock Metal Roofing - New England; their Metal Roofing exceeded expectations with clear communication, professional installation, respectful crews, daily cleanup, and a gorgeous, durable roof that’s the talk of the neighborhood—highly recommended.
I've had an Interlock metal roof on my house and garden shed for two years now. It's absolutely gorgeous. Everyone thinks it's a slate roof! I've had no problems with it. The installation was amazing! A crew of 11 showed up early in the morning and were almost completely done in one day on both buildings. They were so professional. I highly recommend Interlock for both their high quality product and their great people.
I just had a brand new Dark Grey Metal Roof by INTERLOCK installed. I found everyone that I dealt with from Jonathan Brown in sales and Jennifer Simons in the office and to the crew that did an excellent job ( they were very hard workers)! I am pleased with the outcome of the roof. It looks wonderful, I would highly recommend interlock to anyone who Is looking for a quality roof and excellent and professional installation.
The work was both of excellent quality and done on time. The worksite was left exceptionally clean. I would recommend Interlock Roofing to anyone looking for a great product and great service.
The work was both of excellent quality and done on time. The worksite was left exceptionally clean. I would recommend Interlock Roofing to anyone looking for a great product and great service.
Just a note about the roof we installed in March of 2003. The first thing that we have to say is that the roof looks wonderful; it’s the best one on the street. A neighbor two houses down the street had a new asphalt roof installed shortly after we had our Interlock Roof installed. The neighbor across the street remarked that our roof looked a lot better than the neighbor's. We have had quite a few neighbors stop and ask about the roof and remark how good it looks. Having the chimney flashed with a solid flashing (instead of step flashing) and the ducts matching the roof really makes the roof look finished off. Also, having them put vents on the back which match the roof looks finished off, so they are not noticeable. As far as the workmen and the quality of workmanship, we feel that it was done very professionally. We asked that they not start working until 8:00 am, and they waited until 8:30 am to start. They kept the grounds very clean even when they were stripping the roof. They hung tarps so nothing could or would damage either the house or any plants which are around the house. They were very friendly and courteous. In closing, we are very pleased with the roof and the professionalism of the workers.
Communication after the job was a bit lacking, when we had a couple of questions about signage left out front. Everything leading up to the project was perfect! We love the look and quality of our new roof. Your process was exceptional, and your staff great to deal with. The job was completed a month ahead of schedule and took half the time that we were expecting. We hope to never have to use the warranty, but should we have to, I’m confident that we will be taken care of. Great job!
My experience with this company was so easy. First I met with my salesman Johnathan Brown. He was so wonderful explaining everything, very friendly . Loved working with him. The workers were very professional ,did a great job and left no mess. Customer service was very easy to ask any questions. Love my new roof and the company I chose to do it
They have a wonderful product and are incredibly knowledgeable. I have nothing to suggest. They are an amazing company. They did an excellent job and my house feels great with the roof and what it has done for the temperatures.
I would recommend the Interlock Roofing System to anybody, my friends and neighbors were impressed by how nice my roof looks. The men that installed the roof were very respectful and courteous. I was shocked by how quickly they were able to install the Interlock Roofing System. Not only do I have a beautiful roof now, I have the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty and you can transfer it to a new owner if I ever sell the house.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Monomoy
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Monomoy, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Monomoy.
How does a metal roof handle Monomoy's 62 cm of annual snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because its smooth, interlocking surface prevents water from pooling and refreezing at the eaves. With about 44 freeze-thaw days per year in Monomoy, this matters: asphalt deteriorates rapidly under repeated thaw-and-refreeze stress, while aluminum's oxide layer actually self-heals when scratched, making it ideal for your climate. The four-way interlocking panels shed meltwater safely, and optional snow guards are available if you prefer controlled release. You'll eliminate ice dam damage and the costly leaks that follow.
Will a metal roof stay secure in Monomoy's coastal storms and 160 km/h gusts?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), which exceeds your region's typical gust speeds. The panels lock on all four sides, so wind cannot lift or separate them—a critical advantage over shingles. In Monomoy, where gusts regularly reach 160 km/h, this engineering means your roof won't fail during the storms you actually experience. Combined with proper installation per spec and ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance, you get structural security that asphalt simply cannot match.
Why won't an aluminum roof rust in Monomoy's salt-air environment?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron to oxidize. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, transparent oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath. When that layer is scratched, it self-heals automatically, which is why Interlock has installed roofs in coastal salt-air homes worldwide since 1998 without rust failure. Your roof is coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides for extra salt-spray protection, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. This two-sided coating is uncommon and specifically addresses salt-air durability—you get the same protection that Antarctic research stations rely on.
What's the hail rating on a metal roof, and could it lower my insurance?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available—the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 is rare and demonstrates real durability in severe weather. Many insurers offer discounts for Class 4 roofing because claims are so rare; contact your agent with your roof's UL rating and installation date to explore savings. In a region with frequent coastal storms, that combination of impact resistance and warranty peace-of-mind is worth the conversation. Your metal roof may actually pay dividends on your policy.
Is a metal roof too heavy for my home, or do I need structural reinforcement?
No reinforcement needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile—the heaviest—installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than real concrete or clay tile. The Slate is even lighter. Most homes can support a metal roof directly over existing asphalt without any structural work, which saves thousands on permits and labor. Your existing roof framing was built to code and can easily carry aluminum. This weight advantage also means faster installation, fewer fasteners required, and the ability to install over one existing layer—you skip the tear-off and landfill cost that comes with replacing asphalt.
What's the real warranty on a metal roof, and is it transferable?
The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once—the next owner gets 50 years from completion. That means if you sell, the warranty transfers to the new owner, which boosts resale appeal and buyer confidence. Non-prorated means there's no depreciation over time; if a covered failure occurs in year 20, you're covered in full. This stands apart from asphalt warranties, which fade and degrade annually. You're essentially buying the last roof your home will need.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or wood?
Virtually none. Asphalt shingles require inspection after every storm, mineral loss accelerates in your 1157 mm annual rainfall, and UV damage compounds over 15–20 years. Wood shakes crack and rot under freeze-thaw stress—Monomoy experiences about 44 freeze-thaw cycles per year, which is brutal for wood. Interlock aluminum doesn't split, doesn't absorb moisture, doesn't curl, and won't be damaged by hail, wind, or salt spray. Rinse debris twice yearly if you wish; that's it. The coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, so you won't see the color fade that asphalt shows in 3081 annual sunshine hours. Maintenance-free means lower costs and peace of mind for decades.
Will a metal roof help lower my cooling costs in summer?
Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock offers energy-efficient profiles with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning these colors reflect heat instead of absorbing it the way dark asphalt does. In a region with 3081 annual sunshine hours, that reflectance matters for your cooling bills. The Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms the performance. Summer cooling savings vary by color choice and home orientation, but lighter-colored metal roofs consistently outperform asphalt in warm seasons. Over a 50-year roof life, energy savings compound significantly.
Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt?
Substantially. Interlock aluminum is about 95% recyclable at end of life, versus asphalt shingles that end up in landfills. Every asphalt tear-off generates waste that sits in a dump for decades; aluminum instead returns to the recycling stream. Your existing asphalt roof will eventually require removal and disposal—a multi-thousand-dollar environmental and financial cost. Metal roofing breaks that cycle. When you choose aluminum, you invest in a material with genuine circular value. Interlock has manufactured roofs since 1998 in Delta, BC, with deep supply-chain experience in sustainable production. CALGreen verification confirms reduced lifecycle maintenance impact. Choose once, recycle forever.
How long does metal roof installation take, and can it go over my existing roof?
Installation typically takes 2–5 days depending on roof size and complexity, much faster than asphalt tear-off and replacement. Because Interlock panels are so light—the Slate at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—your installer can install directly over one existing asphalt layer in most cases, eliminating tear-off labor and landfill fees. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served this region since 1999 and knows Monomoy's building codes and conditions. The installation process follows ICC-ES ESR-1790 specifications, ensuring code compliance and warranty protection. Current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, making the timeline and cost conversation easier to have today.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Monomoy’s climate?
Yes. Monomoy averages about 62 cm of snow, 1157 mm of rain, roughly 44 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 160 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
